Does not work in Boise Area

Purchased this on the recommendation of the In Store Sales Associate. Easy to connect and set up. Scanned less than half of the available Stations. What it did scan was very clear. As it said on box and instructions: Call before returning. I called and after looking up address was told that I have the wrong antenna for my area. As this is the only model available, I'm returning for something else.

Best indoor antenna I could find (read below)

Let me start by saying that if you live in the suburbs (30+ miles from the broadcast stations) and an outdoor antenna is not an option for you, or if you simply want to test the waters with an indoor antenna before taking that step, don't waste your time with those other indoor antennas. I tested several antennas and none of them gave me the quantity of channels or quality of reception that the Micron GX did. I live over 40 miles north of downtown Houston and the station broadcast antennas are actually located several miles south of the Houston (I recommend checking out your area on antennaweb.org before getting started#. Luckily these channels signals are beamed directionally northward, and I placed Micron GX about 3 feet from a window on the south side of the house #it's sitting on a table in the bottom floor of my house#. This thing is getting me 31 channels, all of which are viewable, which at this distance is amazing coming from an indoor antenna. I do see some minimal signal interruptions from time to time on certain channels, but overall it works like a charm. I should also mention that I first tried using this antenna with the amplifier that comes with it, and not a single channel came in clearly enough to watch. I disconnected the amplifier and ran the antenna straight to the TV, and got 31 channels! I also tried placing the antenna in a few different spots to maximize reception. The build quality isn't awesome, but it's just sitting on a table, so it doesn't need to be durable. It's actually ok except for some screws that went in the bottom didn't go together to well. At least the thing stays together and performs well. I already have cable TV service, but I bought yet another TV at Best Buy and the place where I put it in my house makes it difficult to put in a cable coax jack nearby. The associate at the store tried to discourage me from buying an indoor antenna based on where I live, but I didn't want the hassle of putting up some gaudy antenna outside and running a coax line, especially because my house is already wired for cable which is accessible in most of the rooms. I tested other indoor antennas, and they all went back to the store. Save yourself the hassle and pay a bit extra for this one #Best Buy actually price-matched this from an online retailer, which made it a much better deal!)

Works for UHF not good for VHF

PLEASE make sure you don't have VHF stations in your market before you buy this antenna. This antenna style is ok for picking up UHF stations but isn't optimal for VHF, that's not to say it won't pick up VHF but it probably won't. I'm the Chief Engineer at a VHF TV station and I've had several viewers unable to get our signal with this antenna and after swapping it out for much cheaper rabbit ears they were able to get our station just fine. Do a little research and make sure any TV antenna you buy is rated to receive channels 2-13 (VHF) and channels 14-51+ (UHF). For indoor antennas that is the old style rabbit ears with the hoop in the middle and can be had for much less than the fancy "HD" antennas. Even if your antenna doesn't say it's "HD" you'll still get a full HD picture. Also, make sure if it has a built in amplifier that it can be turned off or bypassed. Some times the amplifiers can cause more problems than they solve. If you are in a UHF only market than this will probably work ok for you but outdoor antennas are a better way to go if at all possible.

Yes, gets quite a few channels, but then I live barely 20 miles from Dallas where there's tons of towers. The problem is it won't hold them. You'll constantly be realigning and rescanning and redouble scanning. Much like watching a scratched dvd a lot of the time, very annoying. It's just way too directionally sensitive, and weather does affect it. I expected more at this price.

If you live in a home with brick, block, stucco, or aluminum siding you may need to place the antenna close a window facing the towers. An outdoor or attic antenna may be the right answer in your case. Thanks so much for trying the Micron XG. Antennasdirect

Here's the deal folks. These antennas are made for the dig networks. Problem is they are NOT both UHF-VHF. To keep dig channels from overlapping, many cities alt between the two. Buy a cheap amplified set of rabbit ears and connect both antennas with a simple cable splitter. Got mine at Big Lots for 13 bucks. I got 15 chan but could not get the ones from the city I was closest to. After adding the rabbit ears I'm pushing 40 chan and am picking up Toronto and Kingston from the east side of Rochester NY

This antenna allows me to view my local PBS channels without difficulty. That's a big deal because the signal strength of those stations is not great where I live. I'm not a cable or dish user, so the antenna is my connection to local TV. So far so good!

I fired my cable company - why pay $100 a month more or less to get the local news? So, I started trying antennae and after 4 attempts this one worked. I now get the local news on 4 channels and a few more channels as a bonus if I'm interested. The signal is every bit as good as it was on Cable.

I bought this hoping it would pull in more channels than my Wineguard Flatwave indoor antenna but I received 3 fewer channels, even when it was placed in the same location as the Wineguard. The amplifier did nothing. On the plus side, it was easy to set up. Returned it to the store.

This works good, picture is nice and clear. Works really good but I don't get many channels. I literally only get about 10 channels the other channels are duplicates. The price should be a lot lower

I am a "cord-cutter", and was using the Terk FDTV1A (also available at Best Buy) and wanted to get 1 more channel OTA that the Terk couldn't get. Note, I also do not want to hang any outdoor antennas... so I want the best indoor antenna I can get. Long story short, got this home and put it together... awful. I lost some channels. I also tried a GE antenna from another retailer that cost much less, and it did better than this antenna. In the end, I returned this antenna and the GE antenna... and went back to the Terk FDTV1A. Do not try this antenna, or you'll just be wasting your time. If you're looking for the best indoor antenna... now that I've tried three brands, I would say go with the Terk FDTV1A.

we live in the Russian hill area of SF. When compares with that 4yr old antenna from Philips, it picks more local channel even without the use of the included amplifier. My main concern now is, where is the ac adapter for that amplifier?! Why I can't locate it within the box? I do expected it to pick these missing channel after it powers up. But I may have to return it and give Terk a try if I do have to pay the extra for ac adapter...

Got it out of the box, hooked it up to the television, and scanned for channels. Pulled in 13 digital channels that come in crystal clear! 2, 4, 7, 20, 50, 56, and more! Several look to be cable channels. We're shutting off the cable!

I purchased the Clearstream 4, because I was told it would pick up channels from Chicago. My local channels came in great. The HD picture quality was better than what I was getting from my cable company. Unfortunately, I couldn’t receive the Chicago channels. I contacted the manufacturer who told me that Chicago was too far away from me (78 miles), so I returned it and picked up the Clearstream Micron XG, which only gets my local channels. It was extremely easy to set up and install. It was up and working in less than ten minutes. The HD picture quality is just as good as the Clearstream 4, and I saved myself $70 by going with the Micron XG. And because it’s an indoor antenna, I won’t have to deal with installing it on my roof or in my attic. If you're looking for a great antenna for local stations, that is easy to install, and works great indoors, this is it.

I bought this antenna as a replacement to the cable. The challenge is that it needs to be placed accurately at a perfect height and in the right direction to get the signal. If you need a different channel then you need to change the direction of the antenna again. Wish they made something which works in all directions.

    Fantastic substitue for cable

OK, I only really watch local tv stations, so I was looking for an alternative to cable. Went to best buy and a great kid in a blue shirt advised this is what I need. it picks up all stations within 60 miles. I took it home, (I had not cancelled cable yet) plugged it in, scanned channels and bam. Better picture than cable. My son works for the cable company and he could not believe it. So I went next door and show my neighbors, elderly on fixed income. They are now using it. I am telling you, you should try it, you will be happy

Every 10 minutes the signal is lost and I have to spend 5-10 minutes moving it around to get it back. If you live in Chicago area forget about getting CBS on it. Very frustrating! Would not recommend this to anyone.

This antenna was my third antenna from Antennas Direct. The first was the regular Micron. I used it in the family room. The regular Micron worked fine but I could not get channels 6 and 10 (Stockton/Sacramento area). I ended going with an outdoor amplified antenna and the regular Micron as a back up when the weather messes with the outdoor antenna. My wife recently bought a new Samsung 40" flat screen to replace the 27" Magnavox DVD/VCR combo for our bedroom. We have Comcast/Xfinity for the bedroom. I tried taking the coaxial cable from the wall directly into the TV, no go. The TV could not decipher the signal directly. The signal from the Comcast box looks like fuzzy rabbit ear garbage. Why Comcast cable? It was bundled with Xfinity broadband, can't get rid of it without raising the broadband monthly rate. I went to Best Buy this evening and decided to buy the newer Micron XG. This was an open box special priced at $80. I didn't want to buy another outdoor antenna and mount it on the roof of our two story house. I hooked it up and got all of the channels as the outdoor antenna. I'm impressed, even channel 6 (PBS) and channel 10 (ABC) came in clear and crisp. I would've definitely bought this at the regular price now knowing its capability.
