    I have tried 2 other brands that lasted only 6-9 months. When I tried this one, it lasted 5yrs. My sister has the same one and it also has endured well past 4yrs.

    I don't think I would trust another brand. However, be advised that, although until the battery wears out, the unit is very reliable, the battery seems to go dead and need replacement with little warning.

    Since a Lead Acid battery looses life time if the charge is not maintained, an unplugged unit will result in additional expense to replace battery. This fact is not made obvious.

    Hard to say yet if this is worth the extra money over a standard surge protector. Does have battery backup but interface is not intuitive.
