Customers are delighted by the Back-UPS 700VA UPS's long battery life and its reliable performance. Many appreciate its surge protection capabilities and ease of use, along with the unit's compact size and reasonable price. While some users found the outlet spacing to be insufficient, the positive feedback on other features outweighs this minor drawback. The included software is also a plus for many users.

I bought one years agoafter during a home Reno the workers turned off the wrong breaker and it shut my PS3 off. The save file for the game I was playing became corrupt and I lost everything. Dozens and dozens of hours of progress and unlocks and stuff. So I bought one and have the tv and consoles on battery backup and have a lamp and sound system and chargers on the surge protectors. There's been several power outages and flickers where we almost lost power and this thing has saved my systems from shutting off improperly. I've since bought a ps4 and wii u and may have to upgrade to one with 10 outlets. Also, at work we have these and they save our lab equipment and pc's from shutting off during random power outages.

I did not read the reviews until after ordering these Battery Back-Ups, because they were not my first choice, but were last-minute substitutions, after the ones I planned to buy were not available. This model does not have any way to turn off or silence the alarm, when they switch to battery power. Since I needed four of them for short-term power interruptions, while waiting for generator turn-on, I didn't want to listen to four alarms going off, every time there was a power interruption.

Thank you for taking the time to review our BN700MC. We appreciate the feedback. You can silence the alarm through our Powerchute Personal Edition software. If safe, unattended shut down is not needed, you can remove the software after you silence the alarm.

I've used APC products for several years in various applications, but happened to purchase this one with a bad battery and the unit would go into alarm during power failure.

One beeped every so often which drove me up the wall. I ended up disconnecting it and it is sitting on one of my filing cabinets. Total waste of money here..

High Quality Product, but check the specs

APC is pretty much the gold standard for battery backups with built-in surge protection, & the BN700MC is no exception.
However, it isn't clear from the specs here or on the APC website that this model includes a pair of RJ-45 jacks to protect an Ethernet network from "back door" voltage surges, not RJ-11 jacks for telephone lines. Moreover, the jacks are only rated for 10/100 Mbps networks -- if you have a Gigabit Ethernet network (1000 Mbps) & run it through these jacks, it will limit speeds to 100 Mbps.
Aside from that, it is a fine unit, & works great without any added software if you are running a version of OS X on a Mac, up to & including the current 10.10.2 Yosemite version.

I love APC UPS systems

I have an APC UPS system on all my major electronic equipment: my wife's embroidery machine, our plasma display, our LED TVs, and our computers. I have not "lost" an electronic to lightning surge since I started using these ~ 1990.
I also have a dedicated APC UPS on my modem, router and extension cords running to my router security cameras. This keeps an eye on my vacation home even during power outages.
The only downside, as an electronic technician, their use of "apparent power" as Volts*Amps, vs their usage of Watts (which is the voltage times the current (measured in amps). 700VA is actually 420 Watts. This sleight of hand, is an advertising issue, make their units appear better than they are. The box will give the Watts, and that is what you need to look for when deciding which unit to purchase.
If you want to run 400 watts, for 62 minutes during a power outage -- say four 100 watt lightbulbs... the 720VA (420 watts) will do it.
I don't recommend using an UPS as an emergency power source. Instead think of it, as bonus time to get to your electronics, and safely shut them off.

Got it over a month ago. The instructions need to say more on how to use the master control. I use the master control on the tv, video games, and dvd players and such. That way when i shut them off it shuts them totally off. You can hear it switch off. not noticeable unless your trying to hear it. It works really well. Bc it shut off a LED lamp i had plugged into it when i shut off my tv. Guess that needs one of the different outlets it has. The softwear works great. I upped mine to 60watts for the low. That way i know it will always shut down. I dont really know how it knows when im turning my stuff back on. but it does. I bought another for my bedroom. Wish they had a apc brand that was not the battery backup part but has the power saver. I dont really see this saving money. Bc it is always charging the battery. And that takes power. And it is on standby on the power saving outlets. witch takes power. So what do you really gain. Its all in our heads.

Bought this on Deal of the Day. We use this brand at work but not this specific model. When I saw it on sale I decided to pick it up for my son, really. If the power goes out, our satellite goes out and Sesame Street disappears. This stops all of that from happening and my son doesn't miss his little red monster. It has spots for surge protection and seperate slots for the battery backup. Works great!

Bought this to replace an older APC that broke down a few months ago.
Since using this unit, I've gone through one power outage. It has allowed me time to save my work and safely shut down my computer before completely losing power.

Some of us spend considerable time preparing documents and although we save our document on a regular basis, we can't predict when a power surge or power failure is about to occur.
It is good to know that with the UPS from APC, you have enough time to finish and save your document in case of a power failure and not loose your work.

This is an excellent back up. I have bought 5 of these for our office. We have shotty electric current with a lot of frequency variations. This thing kicks in and saves the day, especially during the hot summer months when all our A/C units are running, further straining our current.
