Replaced an existing UPS - and 24 hours later had a power outage of 5 hours. Worked perfectly and kept my equipment up for half an hour - more than long enough to notify people that I was going black. On my last UPS, I had a USB connection that would turn the main computer off after a programmed amount of time. Also, computer app would display all the data from the UPS, including a history of failures. I miss those features - this is a "dumb" box with no intelligence.

As stated, this power source is working well and now we will watch to see for how long. I suggest to anyone buying ANY backup power source to write the install date on the unit since it may seem like you bought it yesterday but it really may have bee 2-years. Replace these units at least every two years for safety sake. Good luck

For the sale price you couldn't beat it. It'd be nice if you could screw a mounting bracket to mount this unit on the wall with the other devices. We bought 4 of these units due to a larger UPS failure for mainly surge protection. Put this unit on a older Dell server with 6 drives and had about 20-30 minutes run time on one power supply with cable modem and router. . Have another unit on a 24 port network switch and phone switch running about 75 minutes. Another on a 3 year old dell server running about 30-40 minutes. The fourth on a brand new Dell server i have not hooked up yet. Cannot speak on reliability of these but have had other APC units in the past that have lasted a good few years. These have been running for 1-2 months. I haven't tested these for timing on a PC yet but with the wattage i'd assume a 30-50 minute runtime depending on the monitor(s) / PC config. Only concern i have on the unit, is the battery pack. They seem to be one big unit that you would have to order special. However, based on the price of the unit, it may be more economical to replace the entire unit at that time.

This is a great backup and surge protector. I have several and they have allowed me to work through countless Storms and power surge situations. Prolongs the life of my computer and external hard drives.

I use this more for its surge protection characteristics. Also prevents equipment from powering down for small interruptions. Gives time to power down equipment in a longer power outage.

x-mas gift for someone. This larger one was priced lower then the next one down... so I bought the big one!

Having worked in Info Tech for many years, I'm very familiar with APC Back-UPS products as they've been great in our Server Rooms. However, I think that their Home products may be lacking the same level of Reliability! Less than 2 weeks after purchasing this unit and having equipment nicely plugged in, it started to Fail its Self-Test(s). I did much troubleshooting, as I did NOT want to unplug everything and take this unit back to Best Buy for a New one. Unfortunately, that's what I had to do in the end. So far, so good with the Replacement unit (knock) (knock). My advice: If you Buy this unit, only plug in one or two pieces of equipment and Test, Test, and Test some more for at least the first couple of weeks! Good Luck.

I have connected 2 Linux servers to the UPS. I have not connected the monitors to this system. Still the load is less than 25%. I love this product. However, I did not see an auto option to shutoff the servers when there is a prolonged power outage, it would be nice to tap into snmp and shut down servers automatically.

Read the set up guide and you are good to go, love the ease of muting the audible alarm. I know every time there is a drain on the line. Display shows minutes of power under the current load.

Due to the growing needs of my home-based business for an uninterrupted power source, I purchased this UPS for use in my home office. It has already saved me hours of re-programming and re-listing inventory, and prevented lost revenue during a recent power outage by insuring that l had network connectivity.

I purchased the APC - Power Saving Back-UPS XS 1500 to replace my old UPS. Just five days ago we had a power outage that lasted for about 30 minutes. I had my main home computer, printer, game console, TV, home security and internet service provider's router all connected to the APC UPS and everything kept working without a hitch. When the power came back on, it also protected against the power surge.

We have been using APC ups's to back up our sensitive equipment for over 8 years, and have had great success with multiple power outages and power bumps every year. They keep our equipment safe from power surges also. I highly recommend APC.

Got this on sale about a month ago. Paid $170 give or take. Easy to set up, doesn't make any kind of noise and has plenty of power. Performs like the box says it does, unlike other products.
