Customers highly value the ease of use, screen size, and performance of the 21.5" iMac. Many appreciate its design and find it to be a good value for the price. A common complaint is the lack of a DVD drive. Some users also expressed a desire for greater RAM expandability options.

Great design, not a seamless PC transition

We finally made the transition from PC to Mac and we are overall glad we did. The design of this unit is beautiful, setup was relatively painless (a few glitches with airport, easily remedied with a call to tech support). We've used it for a month and while there is a bit of a learning curve, I'm pretty happy with the features, performance and functionality.
What's not so great:
1) the Apple consultant definitely overstated the simplicity of the Migration Assistant application. It creates a new user for every migration and you have to manually sync to your Admin or other account. It doesn't always logically store the migrated data and it can't support all file types (i.e., .mod video files - you'll need a conversion app or a simple yet time-consuming workaround to get them to play).
2) I miss having a DVD drive and will probably purchase their external one -- unfortunate, as that's now one more piece of clutter on my desk.
3) Pages/Numbers/Keynote are lacking, no way do they take the place of Word/Excel/Powerpoint if you do any type of document/spreadsheet work. Office for Mac was a must.
However I am still quite pleased with the purchase and price point.

I bought this Mac after years of using various PC brands. It seemed like every 2-3 years I was replacing a computer due to major hard-drive issues/screen issues. I had used mac's before in college but never considered buying one for the house. It has been extremely reliable. It is fast and the screen is beautiful. I love keeping my external hard-drive connected and every time something changes on the computer it automatically runs in the background and syncs everything to the external hard-drive. No more loosing files/music like I have for the past 10 years. I highly recommend spending the extra money and buy a Mac.

I really love this I-mac . This is the best mac that I have every used. The screen is 21.5 inches and very clear. It is quick and have had know trouble out of it at all . It also sinc's with my i-phone and i-pad . It can take call's on it via the i-phone and do face time in the large version. No PC can compare to the Mac's at all. I have a dell desktop and laptop and they are so slow that you can make coffee and eat breakfast before they get booted up LOL. Anyhow , the I-mac is the best one that I have ever owned and I do hope it hold's up for a long time to come. Thank's for a great product.

I've been a PC since 95 and was under the mistaken impression that I was a happy camper. Then came the new OS. And another. And another and so on.
After a time, I had thousands of dollars worth of totally useless software that just didn't seem to be compatible with any given version of Windows. Way to go, mighty Microsoft.
Honestly, for the most part, I was content with the Windows experience. There are, however, way too many issues to be ignored. The constant updates. Crashes upon crashes... freezes. After awhile, whenever I'd see the Windows logo, I'd just cringe. I'd had enough.
One day I was in Best Buy just looking around for something (small) to impulse buy and ended up in a conversation with a sales associate that led to my walking out the door with a brand spanking new iMac.
I've made some questionable purchases before that I seriously regret, but this is most definitely not one of them.
After spending 20 years with a PC, learning my way around the Mac has been fun, interesting, frustrating, aggravating and pretty much everything in between. I. Love. It.
Oh, if only I had given Apple more consideration, I could have been Microsoft free a long time ago. Well, except for work... ya gotta suffer for a paycheck, it seems.
The Mac design is simply elegant. Even the packaging is elegant. Sure, I get that Apple products can cost a bit more but from what I'm experiencing, it's well worth it.
But for the computer itself... wow. The display is indescribably awesome. I watched an HD YouTube video that was stunning to the point that it felt like you could step through the display into that other part of the world.
Working on the computer feels solid. Everything works so well together. In Windows, you can tell by the feel of any given program that there was a different design team involved and even between Office apps it feels like interoperability was an afterthought.
In OS X, everything is seamless. Not only on the computer, but between devices. When they say "start an email of your phone and finish it on your Mac" they are SO not blowing smoke. You literally pick up on your computer where you left off.
After having experienced my Mac for even the short period of time that I have, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around why Microsoft hasn't simply dissolved into just a footnote in history.
I swore I'd never buy Apple products but now... I can't see myself buying a PC again. Between the Mac, the Galaxy Tab 4 and PS 3 & 4... why would I?

Well, after years of Windows-based PCs, our most recent one crapped out and we decided to invest in something significant. So far, we have NOT been disappointed. I now only wish I had gotten the laptop because I love this machine. I love the design where there are so few components to plug in so my desktop (physical, not computer) is relatively clear for the first time in a decade, it's a fast computer, it runs smoothly, etc. There were some hiccups in transitioning documents, etc from the PC to the Mac, but that had more to do with the way the prior machine crashed than anything. Honestly, the biggest transitionary issue I've had has been the Quicken for Mac software I had to purchase, but that has to do with Quicken and not Mac.

Very high quality; took less tan 10 minutes to setup. I setup multiple user accounts and really like the ease of setting parental controls. The graphics and audio are excellent quality; MAC OSX ease of use needs no description and the overall sleekness of the computer has a coolness factor. Not to mention the wireless keyboard, wireless mouse and slim main computer saves so much space and wire clutter. Looking forward to several years of good use out of this computer.

I needed a new computer to replace my Dell laptop that broke. I had owned iPhones and iPads, but never a Mac of any kind and was used to always using Microsoft products/PCs for productivity. Every one I spoke with that had both PCs and Macs, recommended Mac and spoke enthusiastically about their experience. I realized portability wasn't really necessary for me so when I saw this iMac in the store, I kept gawking over the beautiful screen and simple/clean look of the hardware and software. My only pause was that I wasn't sure I wanted to learn a new operating system in the midst of taking care of a newborn as I had grown up using Windows and the Office Suite and knew them very well. I decided to take the leap and haven't regretted it at all. All of my xls, ppt, and doc files open just fine with Mac's version of these apps. Graphics are incredible. Speed is perfect. Operating system is much more clean and intuitive than Windows. It was also nice that it was $200 cheaper at BB than at the Apple Store. I don't think I'll ever go back to Windows--after having my Mac for over a month, I'm still in love with it!

Bought this iMac a month ago when our desktop PC died. My wife, who's not a techie, has said several times since then, "Have I told you how much I love our new computer?" Great speed, graphics, and apps. Don't know why we didn't make the leap earlier.
The wireless keyboard that comes with the iMac is a little small if you are used to a full size keyboard. We just plugged our old one into a USB port on the iMac and it works fine. There is no CD or DVD drive built in to this iMac. You will have to buy an external optical drive if you need one.

As a PC gal all the way, I have come to the Mac side of the tech world somewhat reluctantly. Receiving my first MacBook Pro while in school, the trauma of figuring out to delete a simple letter or word without going into a panic attack because I had erased the whole line let alone the word; where is Control, Alt, Delete---they aren't in the same place on the key board, and what is that squiggly thing on the Command button--wait a Command Button? That's not on my PC keyboard....now after 2 iPads, an iPhone and graduating to this the iMac, I've come to really like the Mac family. The ease of integration between all of my devices, the free from worry of viruses or other such non-sense that I still have to worry about on my PC and the blazing speed of my iMac is amazing.
I do worry that I won't be able to upgrade it like I could with my PC, but so far I am liking my purchase, especially the price that I got this for---in the Open Box section.
Ok, here's my funny---I got the computer out of the box, set it up, and turned on the mouse, but for the life of me could not figure out the keyboard. Two hours waiting for tech support to return my call, flipping the paperwork all over the place, the keyboard all over, figuring out how to take out the batteries, trying different batteries. I found the little engraved batteries on the underside of the keyboard. I finally found the POWER button on the side of the keyboard rollbar just as Tech support called me. Talk about---facepalm--to the face.
PC gal is still laughing about that episode.

This is an elegant and clean looking desktop. Great features out of the box and setup in minutes - faster if updating from another Mac. Great keyboard and mouse. Software is full Mac suite ... and now includes the Apple Works Suite.
It doesn't get much cleaner and easier than this. Apple supports and updates their products and this will last for many years. Just get the RAM you need ... it can't be updated.

At the age of 73 I have used microsolft products from day one. Along comes Window 8 & windows 10 and I am completely at a loss for the uselessness of the products. Enter MAC. Heard great things about it but everyone says first Very EXPENSIVE. Well guess what? Haven't had it very long learning is easy and runs circles around everything out there. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Our All-In-One IMac Computer was easy to set up and start using. It connects great with our phones. I like that there is only one item (the monitor). It saves space in our office. It seems to be very reliable and much easier to use than Windows. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great computer.

This is my first iMac. But so far I like it. I have always had P C 's before this so there is a real learning curve with this. But the is a real learning curve with windows 8.5 also. having had both I much prefer the iMAC. And to me it seams to be the better and faster with less crashes than windows 8.5

I bought this computer for my upgrade from my 10 year old slowly dying Windows XP desktop. Going from a desktop with a wired keyboard, mouse, and tower this all-in-one has been beneficial in every way. The fact that in its sleep mode it uses less than 1 watt of power is stunning and leaves behind a very small footprint in terms of electricity costs. The screen is beautiful with very low glare in my sunroom Its functionality is practical and easy to use from the beginning for anyone young or old. I primarily use it for emails and web browsing and my son uses it for content creation (i.e. websites, video, photos, as well as other things for college and business work). With so many Windows products to choose from, each computer seemed to operate differently. After walking in to Best Buy and other stores trying out many systems, I noticed most just did not seem to be nearly as smooth and each to use as Apple's Mac. Each of Apple's products I used were consistent in speed and usability. While it may be considered a computer with a fortune on its price tag, I truly believe that this system will work extremely well for many years to come, and with Apple's updates it will surely only get better. Thanks to Best Buy's college deals, coupons, gift cards, and sales I was able to save hundreds of dollars for my purchase.

I've been an Apple person for quite some time now.Though this is my first iMac. I used it to replace an old HP. What a difference. The speed, graphics, and abilities of this machine so far outpace the HP when it was new. The intuitiveness of OS is by far superior to that of windows. Learn the Apple way of doing things and you will not be disappointed with this purchase.

PC TO MAC- BEST DECISION EVER!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I bought this iMAC because I was sick and tired of all the viruses i was getting on my PC Desktop. I've always had pc products when it came to laptops/desktops. I'd get a new one every year because of all the viruses etc..even though I had antivirus etc. Now I was very hesitant purchasing a mac even though I've had an iPhone since 2007. I was very scared that I wouldn't like the way macs platform was. I've used a mac before on someone else's laptop and never liked it..but i just closed my eyes and decided this is it. I'm done with PC. I have to try MAC. I bought the macbook pro, used for two weeks and fell in love. Then i decided I'm going to get the iMAC and boy is that a decision i'm so glad I made. Its so much more fun to work on the desktop than my macbook pro. they're both great, a million times better than the PC.
Its just so comfortable and stress free. Everything is plain and simple and I love that! It seemed way more complicated on a PC. I have only been using my macbook and iMAC for a month, and I know that this is it. I'm NEVER going back to PC. Best decision I ever made..and trust me, I was 200% sure i'd hate the macs, but boy was I wrong! lol
If your'e on the edge about purchasing the mac, don't be..just go ahead and buy it. You have 15 days to figure out whether or not you want to keep the product, plus no restocking fees on macs. I guarantee after using this product for just one week, you will know that its a keeper! And definitely worth the price.

So Glad I Switched To A MAC

With Windows XP, I was overdue for a new computer. After listening to two friends rave about their MACs and knowing I had to learn a new system anyway, I decided to try a MAC. I'm so glad I did. The whole system just makes sense, is so easy and straightforward to use and simple. The few "quirks" on MACs that I had to learn didn't take long and I'm definitely not the "techie" type. I'd recommend a "Dummy" style book or laminated "Cheat Sheet" to get through the times when you forget how to do something. You may want to buy a DVD drive since it doesn't come with one. I switched my Magic mouse to work like a more traditional mouse too which has helped me. I recommend the switch to everyone! Definitely not regretting it.
