I was hesitant at first to buy the iMac Pro because I had read so many horror stories involving the T2 chip inside it (random crashes and reboots mainly). I was on the fence between the iMac Pro and the new 2019 iMac with i9 processor, which is actually faster on tasks that rely on single core vs. multi-threading. However, when BestBuy had a flash sale on Easter for $800 off the iMac Pro I couldn't resist. I like the iMac Pro because it has an updated cooling system compared to the regular iMac, more cache, better graphics card, and the space grey color. I immediately enrolled in Apple's beta software program and installed the beta of Mac OS 10.14.5 (recommend that you do so also). So far I have had no problems or crashes at all. This machine is a beast. I do simple video editing of importing 4k movies from my iPhone 8 into iMovie and the iMac Pro cranks out my finished product so fast compared to my old 2015 MacBook Pro. Love, love the huge 27" 5k display. I know this is a serious investment but I usually use my Mac's for 4 years. I plan to use this iMac Pro for 8 years or until it dies! Like that it if I ever want a more powerful graphics card I can use a thunderbolt 3 port to add an eGPU. In summary, I recommend purchasing the iMac Pro if you need serious horsepower and can't wait for the rumored 2019 Mac Pro. However, if time permits, I would wait for the next major holiday and see if Best Buy does another flash sale to save some serious cash. Enroll in Best Buy's email sales list so you are aware; that's how I was notified of the Easter flash sale.

I am not the type to post reviews, but this one is outrageous and so I wanted to shared with all potential buyers out there. Never buy Geek Squad Certified Open Box items. Never! They are below the standards you would expect and their customer service is horrible. Horrible! I am left with a dysfunctional machine delivered to my home and the Geek Squad / sales team on the phone are unable to or unwilling to help. It's a disaster. Disaster! The item was shipped with the original iMac Pro space gray lightning-to-USB cable replaced with an ordinary white one. That is a major change to the product never mentioned anywhere in the product description. Geek squad / sales team are unable or unwilling to send me a replacement. The item also came with a weird user pre-installed rather than allowing me to set up the machine using my own credentials. I called to ask how to set it up in this state and the Geek Squad / sales team did not have a clue, recommended I take a day trip drive to the nearest store and ask someone there what to do, not even guaranteeing that someone will be able to help. In essence, they sell a dysfunctional product and refuse to solve the problem. All I ever got was a read-off-the-script line "please come into your nearest BestBuy store and ask a local service representative for help with your issue." Lacking any technical competence or interpersonal skills. I thought when buying a Geek Squad Certified product that it would be as-good-as-new... quite the contrary. This is only trouble. I am deeply disappointed with BestBuy's service offer. What a disaster. Please heed my advice and never buy anything from BestBuy Geek Squad Certified. Never!
