Better than the in-ear pros

Great headphones.

I was using the AirPods 2 previously. The sound quality is noticeably better. The 2 sound a bit muffled but the 4 are clear with good bass. The noise cancelling works surprisingly well but don't think it is equal to the pro models. The adaptive mode is useful but at times does sound a bit off. There's also times where it adjust to ambient sounds so you get an up and down listening experience. Transparency mode works well enough to hear your environment. I use this mode sometimes but most of the time I have these features off. The new design fits better in ear than the AirPods 3 but isn't as good as the 2 were for my ears. The new charging case is very small and charges over USB-C which is a welcome change. Overall for the sale price these go for they are great headphones.

I had an older pair and they were uncomfortable to wear. Do not have any issues with them falling out of the ear. I would recommend the series four.
