This is my honest review after paying for them with my own money. I purchased when they went on sale and do not regret the decision. Best Buy offered the best price for these at around $100 off. The original msrp is just a bit too high but at the discounted price point it feels right for the quality you’re getting. The sound quality is fantastic, especially when integrated into the Apple ecosystem’s lossless audio. The battery life of ~20 hours has never been an issue for me since just five minutes of charging or so can get you 1-2 hours of listening. They are built very sturdy and feel extremely premium. They fit quite comfortably on my head, I’ve always had a big head/ears so I was relieved that these did not give me any issue. My partner who has overall smaller head and ears thinks they are the most comfortable pair of headphones ever and now wants a pair too after trying them. I live in a tropical climate and have not had any issues with sweating after hours of continued use in 73 degree air conditioning at home. Some people have complained about the smell of the ear pads, but in my opinion this is mainly coming from a chemical in the material used. Out of the box, you will notice a chemical smell on the pads which is normal, but after sweating the scent of the chemicals can mix with it which is what people are encountering. However, they are removable and washable with detergent and water. This should remove the odor and keep them clean - Apple has guidelines on their website as to how to do this safely. Would definitely recommend grabbing them if on sale as long as you understand that they require a bit of effort here and there to maintain clean and in tip top shape.

The AirPods Max are easily worth five stars. From the moment I put them on, I could feel the premium build quality — the stainless steel frame is solid but not heavy, the memory foam ear cups are insanely comfortable, and the knit headband makes long listening sessions easy. The sound is incredible, with crystal-clear highs, natural mids, and deep, controlled bass, and the spatial audio with dynamic head tracking makes music and movies feel totally immersive. The active noise cancellation is top-notch, blocking out everything around me, the transparency mode works perfectly when i need to hear my surroundings. They pair instantly with all of my Apple devices and they switch seamlessly between them with no problems, as-well as the integration of Siri making controlling music and calls effortless. The battery life is impressive too, with 20 hours of listening and fast charging giving over an hour of use in just five minutes which gets me through my day. Overall, they’re not just headphones — they’re an experience, combining comfort, performance, and Apple’s ecosystem perfectly, and honestly, I can’t recommend them enough to anyone.

I'm a musician but not an audiophile. This, to me, is very cool because I get to appreciate music, instruments at it's best without having to worry too much about the technical aspects of bitrate, lossless kpbs/kHz, and etc. If you're in the same track I am, you will LOVE these things. Hate the price, yes, but love the device itself. If you can, get the USBC-to-3.6mm cable from Apple so you can use these guys in planes, retro music players or basically anything else. Also, the Midnight Blue color is essentially a cool shade of dark gray, has little to no blue in it.

I tried many of the headphones within the price range of the AirPods Max before purchasing them. The first time I put a pair on my head the sound quality was simply astounding. I listen to a variety of music, but first I'm a Rock & Roll boy. I listened to all my favorite bands from the 60s & 70s, when I was growing up in the SF Bay Area. The AirPods rocked! I also like classical music, so I listened to some of my favorites and the experience was impressive. I used to go to Broadway Musicals when they came through Portland. One of my favorites is Phantom of the Opera. Listening to the Phantom with the AirPods Max was almost like being in the theater. Another thing that has impressed me about these headphones is the build quality. I purchased my first pair just over two years ago and nothing has broken on them. How can anything not break? Apple used a lot of metal when designing the Max, so the quality is far above any of the headphones I tried. I have medium to large ears and nothing I had tried really felt comfortable, especially after a few hours of wear. I only like over the ears, as opposed to on the ear. The AirPods Max fit over my ears completely, and I wear them comfortably for hours. I use nothing but Apple products. I have an iPhone, Air Pad, MacBook Pro, and Apple TV. The AirPods works seamlessly with them all. The new USB-C AirPods Max headphones was a disappointment for a lot of fans because of the lack of upgrades Apple could have done but didn't. Apple kept the H1 chip in them when I had expected at least an upgrade to H2, and possibly a new H3. Why? Who knows. The other disappointment is many fans were expecting a water resistance upgrade. Why Apple decided to keep these basically the same is up for debate. Apple did change the charging port to USB-C from the old Lightning port. It's a nice change for those tired of having to interchange cords. Apple finally changed to the new USB-C because they were basically forced to by some European government/federation. The new colors is a nice upgrade. I opted for the Midnight color and they look really cool. The old gray option was just that - old. I use these to watch TV and the sound is amazing. I have premium headphones designed specifically for TV/movie watching, and the AirPods Max sound so much better. If you're looking for a premium pair of headphones, I encourage you to take a serious look at the AirPods Max.

The Apple AirPods Max deliver top-tier sound, amazing noise cancellation, and a premium design. They’re super comfortable, especially for long listening sessions, and features like Spatial Audio and seamless switching make them perfect for Apple users. The only downsides? They’re pricey, and the case isn’t great.

My evaluation on three factors 1. Noise Cancellation - It’s good but definitely not even comparable or beyond than AirPod Pro2 (Very Good) There are better noise cancellation headphones existing in latest release from competition. 2. Sound Quality - Very wide and open bright audio with most focus on mid range - singer clarity and high frequency instruments, string instruments, cymbal etc sound very crisp. Lacks on bit Bass staging, I found AirPod Pro2 bass much better. 3. Ease of wear - recommended to use during comfort music listening, movie watch on TV (recommended to pair with Apple TV). Not to use during exercise activities it will ruin ear cusp cushion .

This is so worth it! You will never regret buying this. The sound quality, noise cancelling feature and the comfort is superb. You can wear this all day!
