The time capsule is a top of the line router delivering excellent range and performance which supports as many devices you desire. This device also automatically backs up your mac so in the event anything happens to your mac all of your data will be saved on this time capsule. It even backs up PCs.

It is an odd shape, but the speed of this thing is just incredible!!! From the moment I connected it, my Wifi speed and connection strength went off the charts. Plus, the easy of Time Machine backups to the Time Capsule are great! It all just works and can be managed so easily from either my MacBook Pro or from my Windows 7 Dell. Just a Great product.

The best Router and Backup in the market !!

it's my first time buying an apple router and i'm so glad i did this time. I replace a non too old Netgear and i was looking for a wireless backup option and i'm so glad i bought this router. It was so easy to install like 1,2,3 my HP printer recognized right away. If you have any apple device it let you change the setting right thru your iphone or ipad. It's really fast and reliable, their signal it's pretty strong without minding having many devices connected at the same time. I love the design it doesnt looks as the other router, its nice little box that looks so stylish next to my xbox. The price wasnt that great haha but if you want a product that its there anytime it doesnt bother me to spent more than 300 dollars. Actually that was my christmas gift, So if your looking for a router and wireless backup, this is the best option in the market.

    Works flawlessly

We have multiple Macs in the house, including a few newer ones that can take advantage of the ac wireless afforded by this unit. Setup was a breeze - it's fast, its range is far greater than the premium model Netgear model we had, I never have to reset it like I did my Netgear, and best of all it is always backing up our computers. The backup works - my photo file got corrupted on my iMac and I easily restored it using the time machine backup on this unit. Have had for almost a year and no problems. Like most things Apple, a little pricey, but I'm willing to pay more for quality and reliability.

Best router I ever had. Very strong and stable compared to other dual band netgear routers that I had before. Much costlier than Netgear, but totally worth it. Only bad thing is that I can't see the status or IP of who is connected to the router.

I had dozens of routers and no one worked on all my house (small 3bdroom apartment) but Timecapsule does. Doesn´t have external antenna, but it works great. Also the hard drive works with PCs. Nice buy, would be better if cheaper.

Purchased this to upgrade my home router as well as to be able to backup my Mac computer. Setup went very well and the range I have is better than my old router. Mac makes the setup easy for both the router and the backup.

great router / drive combo for macs

replaced a recent router with Time Capsule 2TB; definitely noticed big improvement in three critical areas: 1) Time Capsule as a router works with wireless AC and my MacBook Pro 2015 takes advantage of this faster speed so I get really faster internet on the macbook pro-- after I put in the time capsule; 2) Was able to connect my Wireless N NetGear Extender and that works better now and everything connected to it works noticeably better- my denon receiver has stopped losing its IP address and my apple TV (gen 2) worked better connected to the extender than it did before; 3) Was having problems getting time machine working on network drives off the router - well no more obviously Time Capsule nailed it. I have since upgraded my Apple TV to the newer 32gb model which also has wireless AC and it is smooth as silk - good bye buffering. My old network drives? I have a USB 2.0/eSATA case with WD 2TB media drive connected to the USB 2.0 slot on time machine- works fine, can see and work on the drive no problems and a MyBook 2TB network drive connected to Time Capsule's wired CatV jack in back and that works fine as well. Time Capsule seems to make things that work with wireless AC much faster and still connect to older standards without messing anything up. In other words..... "it just works."

Very easy to setup through airport utility. Updates are able to be configured through airport utility also on your iPhone, iPad or mac. Easily gave me 100ft more of wifi... even works down the block! Super fast storage, i get to keep my computer clean and store everything on it wirelessly! I even made a private network for myself with it. One of the best accessories i have purchased.

This review is in comparison to a different brand dual-band router which was not doing the job (more below). Pros: 1) Worked immediately without fanfare to resolve my WiFi congestion issues, and continues to work nine days in. 2) Easy set-up as main router in place of UVerse VDSL modem's internal router. Nicely warned me of Dual-NAT issue which I fixed in the UVerse gateway. 3) Beautifully simple small-footprint design works without clutter and aggravation of wall-mount. 4) Documentation is technically complete, accurate, and clear, and in flawless English. 5) Solved my storage shortage for time-machine backups without spending yet more on additional NAS. Cons (Why four stars despite the fact that I'm delighted): 1) Would like easier admin of individual devices, such as a) for adding access controls, select on-line devices from a pull-down, and b) ability to assign custom names to mac addresses or cryptically named devices. 2) Would like QOS by device. This Airport replaces an expensive monstrosity (brand **us) that I returned after two weeks, which despite its high price and aggressive design, did not resolve my WiFi congestion issues. My environment: Moderately high-demand home environment with a dozen WiFi devices for six users, mostly streaming/browsing on Android, Windows, IOS, and OSx. Installation: As directed, 2nd floor, never more than 30' through 1-4 walls or floor. Firmware up-to-date. WiFi: Channel auto-select, Dual-band WPA-protected 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz, one 2.4GHz WPA-protected guest network for two of the devices. Wired: Consumer-grade NAS, one each OSx and Win7 machines. Internet: UVerse 18Mbit/s via VDSL, consistently delivering measured rates within +/- 5%. Neighborhood WiFi interference--2.4GHz: two or three high-strength and six or seven medium to low strength access points, 5GHz: one medium-strength access point. On-line Gaming: Little to none.

I was going to get the AirPort Extreme and connect a 2TB hard drive for backup, but decided on the Time Capsule since it was less expensive than most 2TB external drives. Setup on this thing was an absolute breeze! My Mac automatically picked it up as a new Time Capsule and walked me through the setup, although I understand I could have used an iOS device for setup as well. My roommate's Windows laptop has also had no issues connecting. I've gone through many different brands of routers in the past...Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, Belkin...and it seems like the people that I know with Apple routers have outlasted mine by years. Let's hope this one lasts as long as theirs! So far...Very Impressed!

Very nice if you have 802.11 ac needs

This didn't suit my needs only because I have also have a Windows laptop that didn't have the capability to use the 802.11 ac technology or the time machine storage. I didn't need the storage ability this time capsule offers. The signal is strong, but just not as strong as the Netgear Nighthawk I have. I decided to purchase a separate router and modem. This is nice if you want an all-in-one router/modem. The setup is incredibly easy as well.

A Great Upgrade to the Time Capsule

It was finally time to update my old Time Capsule, and I have been very happy with the updated model so far. It is much smaller, and I love that it has the latest wireless a/c technology. I can't ever go back from using the Time Capsule -- I don't have to remember to back up and it operates seamlessly in the background.

I use this product for several Macs (about 8) running on the Wireless portion of the network. It backs up every one of them. Always reliable, never had down time, or backup issue. One complaint I have is that you must use the Airport Utility on a Mac, I wish it had a web interface. I highly recommend this product.
