Pretty much shook out of the box and worked. While default settings would probably have worked fine, it replaced an ancient Apple router and the change-out needed to be "seamless" (the network name needed to remain the same), so it required some easy-to-customize setting changes so I wouldn't have to run around re-educating a pile of connected stuff. Probably the most challenging part was FINDING the Airport program on the Mac - it IS there, just not really obvious to the non-regular Mac user. Apple also has an app for iPad that can manage most of this device as well. Works with Mac, iPhone, iPad and even plays nice with Windows, Blackberry (don't judge me - my Playbook from Best Buy still works) and the wireless printer. The neighborhood has two dozen Wi-Fi routers competing in the 2.5-Ghz band - while 5-Ghz doesn't have the signal penetration 2.5 does, between being the ONLY one in the selected channel and a small 2-bedroom place, 5-Ghz works just fine (don't turn off the 2.5-Ghz radio, though - my printer didn't do 5). The 2Tb model was chosen over the 3Tb model as there was no cost benefit in the jump from 2Tb-to-3 as there was from 1Tb-to-2. Of course, having the Time Capsule drive in this device makes Mac's Time Capsule back-ups effortless (although connect the Mac directly to the Ethernet port if you can for the first back-up - it takes quite a while via WiFi). After configuration and the first back-up, Time Capsule back-up via WiFi becomes something you don't need to worry about - and few people REALLY back-up their computers like they should, so this is a GREAT reason for buying this with a 2Tb drive. Time Capsule back-up for iOS is not presently supported. I read where some non-Apple apps exist, but apparently one is supposed to back-up your iThing to a Mac and THAT back-up will be backed-up to the Time Capsule. It seems you can use this as a NAS device for Windows back-up. I use a different method for backing-up my Windows devices and have NOT tried this with the Time Capsule. This MAY NOT fix a "takes forever for Websites to load" problem - while this helped a LOT to speed things up around the house, what REALLY helped was changing the DNS server (Comcast/Xfinity's is NOTORIOUSLY awful, as it turned out). If this is YOUR problem, you might want to see if switching DNS servers helps FIRST.

I am not computer/electronic savvy but I was told I needed one of these in case my computer crashes. It was very easy to set up. I think it maybe took me 10-15 minutes. It automatically backs up throughout the day. I don't know how I would go about retrieving info on it that it backs up but haven't had to try yet. (thank goodness). Also, it has a lot of memory. I have a lot of pictures/songs on my computer and the info I have takes up very little space on this thing. I would recommend for backup.

over the years have been becoming big part of APPLE's eco-system...older high-end router (not apple) was not always staying connected and not sure why...as well as signal strength...went with the airport time capsule (has hard drive) rather than the 'express or extreme' simply for personal taste...this router does direct it's signal towards your device so strength is very good and seems not to vary but slight...picked up the signal 2 house's away...i'm pretty sure the 'airport extreme' would be as good (no hard drive)...so far has been fine but have only had for a short time...one hiccup...did lose wireless connectivity but after reboot it has been fine...probably should have done that 1st thing after set-up but forgot...hope not an issue later......nice to have my printer work wireless (if your printer will do that)...i absolutely like 'apple' products...user friendly and they simply work...set-up went flawlessly and easy...way way easier than my older 3rd party router...have read some internet 'negatives' but personally think mostly might be issues with their older hardware or they're not computer savvy...i'm pretty picky and do like it......

This product is amazing. It is very fast. I had it setup in like 5 minutes. Backed up almost half a terabyte in about 22 hrs. Since the first time, it just takes minutes. Wireless speed is the best I have ever seen. It's a little pricey but it's worth it for all it does and how we'll it performs. I would recommend this with 5 out of 5 stars

As with all Apple products, it works flawlessly from the moment you set it up. Because of the way Apple designs their products to integrate into functional systems, setting up the network and backups is a breeze. WiFi is very fast and reliable. The only drawback encountered so far is the inability to have Windows 10 connect with other laptops on the same netwotk, but on different speeds (2.4GHz vs 5GHz), but that's likely just a configuration setting I'm missing in Windohhs.

Had a linsys 5450N and was having issues with speed and connection. Also wanted to extend my network to cover dead area in house. Setup was uber simple and took only minutes. A desktop in back office that always had horrible connection now has "excellent" all the time. The time machine makes backing up a breeze. Was having issues with my WD HD I using for time machine now I have plenty of space and ease of auto backup. My iPhone 6 plus screams with the Ac signal and all I need is a Ac adapter for a desktop. I have 10 prefierials on network and ever when everyone is watching video, gaming or watching on demand the router can handle the traffic. Expanding the network also is a breeze. Plug in airport express and tell AirPort Extreme to expand network and it expands network.

The air port time capsule is mainstream Apple- it just works. Setup was quick and easy. There was also a significant difference in the speed of the wi-fi with the time capsule! If you use Macs then this device is a no-brainer. The capsule also serves as a means of back up for the Macs, plus as an external hard drive. I have been really satisfied with this purchase. Best Buy consistently has the best pricing on Apple products.

The AirPort Time Capsule was very easy to set-up, and once the initial back-ups were complete (they take a while depending of course on the amount of data being backed up), seamlessly does quick back-ups of changes on my iMac and MacBook Pro using the built-in WIFI. The 802.11ac WIFI is much faster than my old LinkSys router, and the range is excellent. Just hope the reliability is there -- so far I love it.

This by far was the easiest hard drive/Wi-Fi router I have ever set up. I am sure I will never fill 2 TB up, but I like the added security of space if needed. Currently have 2 MacBook Air, 2 Apple TV bases, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, one smart TV, one smart Blu-Ray player, and 1 Wi-Fi printer set up on it and have had no problems with bogging down service. Very impressed with its performance thus far.

Like all Apple products this is almost a plug and play. It was easy to follow instructions and took about 10 minutes to set up and use. The automatic back up is a great feature and the signal is better with this than my other wireless router.

I already owned an older Apple Time Capsule so I am familiar on how well they work and how simple they are to setup. This new Time Capsule did not disappoint. It's much faster than my old one, offers more bandwidth and super easy to setup with Apple's Airport Utility. Worked perfectly right out of the box. I am very satisfied.

I had purchased a top of the line linkssys and it had died after 3 months of use. I purchased the time capsule and the range was even better than the linksys. The backup also works flawlessly and the setup is extremely simple. I would highly recommend it!

I have a 2 story home with basement and the old Netgear router limited where we could use wi-fi. The AirPort has excellent range and speed anywhere in the home, even with the AirPort in the basement. The 2TB backup is very convenient. Set up was very easy.

Apple delivers again. The product replaces an obnoxious black router with three antennas pointed in various directions. It's fast, stylish, easy to set up, easy to use, and delivers the performance as promised. I use iCloud &/or One Drive to store files that I need 24/7 access to, but with this product, I've got 2TB of backup at home with all my music, photos, movies, and documents. It functions as an automatic backup or "time capsule" for not just my computer, but for my iPhone and IPAD Air 2, which is needed for security/safety due to a catastrophic loss of either mobile device. It functions as a long-term storage solution. And, it is a super-fast AC router. All with the ease of installation & maintenance, style & elegance, and performance that I've come to expect as the new "minimum-standard" that Apple products deliver!

I was looking for several features that this device delivers, and to replace my old AirPort Extreme Base Station. First off was a performance upgrade. We upgraded to current generation MacBook Air laptops. Our old AirPort Extreme did not support 802.11n so we saw a nice bump in performance. Also, we had poor signal strength in some parts of our house. The new beam-forming antenna technology took care of that. Full signal strength everywhere. The last thing I was looking for was to not have to plug in our external USB disk drives for Time Machine backups. The 2TB of storage in the Time Capsule solved that problem. Also, the ability to setup temporary guest passwords is useful for when we have guests visiting for several days at a time. This is a great piece of equipment.
