AirPort Time capsule is great as back-up and wireless router. solved a lot of problems.

A bit on the $$$ side, but is worth it for the piece of mind. Time-machine in Mac OS already saved me when I wrote over a Master Photoshop file by accident and there it was waiting for me on the TC to recover. :)

Easy to set up, works great for Time capsule and has good coverage.

I bought this to replace my older AirPort Extreme and two airport express units. The range on the new one is significantly better, so I no longer needed the express units as extenders. Plus, the wireless Time Machine backup is seamless and easy for our iMac and MacBook.

I've owned several wireless routers but have suffered from issues around signal drop. No drops yet after 2 months. I read that some routers don't handle the packets used with airplay very well and it causes issues. I use airpot all the time and no issues so far.

I was looking for a backup for my iMac and thought about giving this a try. As amazing as time machine is, the true benefit is the high speed wifi. It took me by surprise but on my mac air i am getting dl speeds of 80 MBS on a 50 MBS connection. Worth every penny.

LOST EVERYTHING FROM MY HP AND WINDOWS, SO SWITCHED TO A MacBook Pro. SALESMAN SUGGESTED THIS FOR BACK UP BUT GLAD HE WAS HONEST AND DIDN'T THINK I NEEDED THE LARGER MORE EXPENSIVE ONE. EXCITED TO USE NEW LAPTOP!! NO MORE LOST INFO OR FILES!

I only use it for access point mode, but it works flawlessly for time machine.

Not crazy about the lack of information on what is actually being backed up, it appears that the time machine program will use the entire size of the disk.

It's old tech kinda but what a lot of people don't understand is that if you want to wirelessly use Time Machine backups this is the fastest way to do it. If you plug a USB drive into an Airpot Extreme it will take forever.

I am doing thousands of photo scans which will be followed by dozens of videos with hundreds of hours... endless actually. To lose ANYTHING along the way, for ANY reason just is not acceptable. At one point while working scans and iPhoto, I had a power problem (still don't know what caused it) and my iPhoto dropped about eight "events" after spending considerable time enhancing several hundred photos. Going back to the previous Time Capsule backup brought everything to where it was before the problem saving a TON of time and allowing me to continue forward with no further waste of time.
