Filthy, ear wax-filled airpods

A large majority were 4-5 star reviews. I did read a couple one star reviews that noted the condition in which the refurbished airpods arrived. They claimed the airpods were dirty, scratched up, and in some cases still full of the previous users ear wax. I've purchased refurbished products from Apple many times before and I have never been disappointed. So, assuming geek squad follows similar refurbishing procedures, I purchased these for my wife. Well, the airpods arrived, and I opened the packaging to have them charged up and ready to go as a surprise for my wife. ISSUES: - The charging case had deep scratches and dirt that could be removed with my fingernail. This was immediate proof that the refurbishing process did not involve any cleaning. - I opened the case and saw scuffs and scratches on the individual airpods. - Inside the mesh screening on both airpods were large amounts of ear wax. This wasn't simply trace amounts that could only be removed by dismantling the airpods. This was large chunks of ear grim that would've made Shrek proud. Needless to say, inserting other people's ear goo into my wife's ears was unacceptable. I immediately returned these to my local Best Buy and paid the difference for a new pair free from scratches, scuffs, dirt, and ear juices. In the future I would gladly pay a little extra to not repeat this experience. GEEK SQUAD REFURBISHMENT PROCEDURES ARE NOTHING LIKE APPLE'S!! Good luck with your purchase, wash your hands, and use a GD qtip every once in while...
