The sound was okay… configuration was very simple however the connecting to TV was tough

As a long time and extremely devoted, Apple user, I can say that this is the most disappointment I have ever experienced an Apple product. This HomePod does not play well with airplay from my Apple TV, or from music, played on the iPad or iPhone. It requires constant endless resetting. Well below my expectations for Apple.

Maybe i had more expectations for sound from apple. It will perform well in kitchen side by side with a bread toster but not good speaker for living room or office. Not recommended if you looking for a high quality speaker for a large room

I bought these as a preorder and well…
Getting them setup in the home app was easy once my phone was updated. Setting them up as a pair was fairly smooth too. That’s where the issues begin.
Even though the speakers were setup as a stereo pair, my Apple TV 4K refused to set them as a default audio for the device. After rebooting the device I was notified that they needed to be updated to 16.3, so why is apple shipping these things with an incompatible OS?
Even after updating though, I still had to fight with them to be able to use them with my Apple TV. I even tried resetting the Apple TV, but that didn’t even fix the issue.
Anyway, after about 2 hours with fighting with them, they finally decided to cooperate and they’re now the default speakers.
So, how do they sound? Honestly, they sound fairly similar to the Sonos Arc, but you can at least add a sub to the Sonos. They’re not as clean as the Bose 900 though. So, I can’t honestly say who these make sense for.
At $600 a pair, there’s only $100 that separates this from the Bose 900, and that can be expanded to a much more complete system. It also sounds better under most situations.
The speakers do sound nice though and if you were thinking about grabbing an Arc and nothing else, then this is definitely a better value for the money and the sound profile is very similar.
I have the Bose, so these are likely going back, but I would certainly have kept these if Apple made a wireless sub for them.

I would really give it a 4.7 stars; But that's not possible. It's a very clean clear sound & bass quality is good but I have heard speakers others brands with a deeper bass. I wish It would work with more than just Apple devices. That's makes no sense why Apple would limit the sells to this speaker to Apple devices only. If the bass was 10% deeper, 5.3 Bluetooth, & worked with other than apple only... this would be a home run. This is a great speaker; but I think a better pricing for it is like $250. And it needs battery life of 12 hours too. Believe it or not in my opinion, It work best to me against the wall on a shelf.

The sound is so amazing! One problem is my setup. Maybe it’s the environment. It would turn on by itself and play loud music while I’m away my office in the evenings.
Other than that, love the quality of sound.

Very easy to set up, sound is amazing. Bought it so I have a hub for HomeKit. Although Siri's answers are not always the best, the capabilities of Shortcuts and Automations is far better than Alexa. Also if you use Apple Music, controlling your speakers is more responsive and easier to use than Sonos' app.

I have had covered the house in homepod minis and decided I needed the full size. Couldn’t be happier with the sound difference with big homepod. Really fills the room and has much better bass.

Overall, the sound quality is better than the original; however, there continue to be moments of disconnectivity from time to time which can be frustrating at times, but it just needs to be reconnected. No other problems have arisen.
