    Love my iPad!

I recently purchased a new iPad 2 for $829.99 and absolutely, unequivocally and totally think it is a piece of preparatory of s!*#. It is difficult to hold while typing, the keyboard covers the workable screen 50%+, the auto rotate is slow and suddenly will rotate when tilted randomly, will not recharge while plugged into a laptop, the touch pad is either so sensitive or will NOT work at ALL, Apple says it has a 10hr battery life - try three hour at best,a data package must be bought to use the wi-fi when they say can be used right out of the package, you have to buy iTunes comparable packages to use the iPad free aps are NOT all free - there is usually a fee to make them work to the point they are enjoyable, don't even try to upload ANY of you own music or movies to this piece of junk. There are so many more objections I don’t have the time to list and all negative experiences have been experienced only owning it for three days. I have been using Apple/Mac products for more than three decades and could not speak higher of the quality and ease of use until now. I am going to use my Mac Books camera to video my launching this heavy iPad it against the brick wall outside to show it is more useful in a recycle bin than in my hands. No wonder why Mr. Jobs is ducking out of the company. I'm buying a Motorola Xoom like nearly everyone I didn't listen to said to do. Well, I'm man enough to admit I was wrong and I was definitely WRONG! Please, for the love of God, heed my advice and DO NOT BUY THIS RIDICULOUS OVER PRICED JOKE! Nearly ANY other Pad like this will do much more than this. I’m selling my Apple stock.

I can't say enough good about my iPad 2. I usually avoid Apple products, but am extremely happy I bought this. I'm finding that there are more apps available to iPad than to androids. I like the way so many of my apps, and the camera, can immediately send anything through email. I took a road trip recently, and found that there are a few spots where it is more difficult to get the signal from Verizon, but overall it worked very well. My husband doesn't need to bring his laptop on trips any longer. The iPad does it all. I've only had one site that I couldn't get because I didn't have a flash player.

Where to start?! I simply love everything about this thing so far, It is a night and day difference having this handy on the construction site. I am a commercial concrete foreman and I use my iPad to review job blueprints while onsite and working all day. It's very quick, and everything operates smoothly and with ease. I downloaded a .PDF app and it let's me do review prints, zoom in make changes, take notes , etc. The first day I took it to work it blew everyone away and no one new there was anything capable of doing this thats so small and portable. Having the Verizon 3G alongside is great I can now communicate back and forth to our office through email and send blueprint updates and new prints and info.. Which in the past would require someone to have to leave and bring it to me. I think our company is going to purchase them for all our foremen now ..my boss Was certainly impressed...I haven't had much time with the cameras so I can't say much about them but as far Quality they seem moderate. I have no regrets on this purchase it was worth every dollar.

    Apple wont change

Apple could have hit one out of the park on the iPad 2 but alas they have decided that they wish to remain the proprietary snobs we all have come to know and love. The iPad 2 is the best piece of bleeding edge obsolete technology that money can buy. Yes I called it both bleeding edge and obsolete in the same sentence. The reason it is obsolete is that it is no secret that every cellular provider is rushing to upgrade their towers to the fourth generation or 4G systems. Both Verizon and AT&T are throwing billions into getting their systems up. The difference between 3G and 4G is significant enough to perhaps wait a few months. Since the iPad 2's hardware is not upgradeable you will be stuck with 3G for the life of the unit. Another problem is that there is no way to upgrade or change the system once you get it without voiding your warranty. You can’t even change the battery! There is no USB port nor is there a memory card reader so most of your data transfers will have to be wireless. The lack of flash support is a major turn off as a large percentage of the most used sights on the internet use flash and your iPad 2 can’t access them. It has limited java support from what I could find but there were a great many sights I couldn’t access. Apple has done is what they always do, they wet your whistle with their product and then someone else comes along with something similar but does all you want and Apple is left out in the cold. The only really successful device I have seen leave Apple recently has been the iPod. I love mine yet I find that I use other sites for the contents than iTunes. If I want books I will get them from other sites as they generally charge one credit per book and you can get credits for under $10. The exact same recording from iTunes can be over $50. In three or four months or perhaps a little longer there will be a tablet that you can get that will have all that the iPad 2 offers but you will be able to change the battery plug your thumb drive in, use flash and connect to a 4G tower and if history is an indicator it will be for less money. My test were performed on an iPad 2 64gig Verizon 3G black total cost with accessories (leather cover and carrying case) and tax was $964.57 If you have a genuine need and aren’t worried about 3G connectivity and are only going to use it with in house apps and not worry about using the internet it is a wonderful product. It connected to my 2010 F-250 Microsoft Sync without a hitch and was treated as an iPod.

Still getting used to it, but really like it so far. Keyboard is pretty sensitive though. Light, easy to carry with me wherever I go. Camera is great. Dislike that I can't use Adobe Flash, would like to see that changed so it could be used with this product.

    The Perfect Package

This is my first tablet, and I purchased it on the release day, so I've been using it a week. I can't compare it to the first iPad, but I can say that this seems very fast in loading apps. I purchased HD Racing 2 which utilizes the new horsepower, and it looks amazing. Controling the iPad is intuitive, and even typing quickly on it is surprisingly natural. Verizon's service in my area is solid, but it is not fast. Still, for loading a youtube video or checking mail, it gets the job done. I've tried to run the battery out every day with heavy use, but every night, there is juice to spare. A note of caution: when you stand it up like a picture frame with the smart case (and do get the smart case) DO NOT push on the upper part of the screen, you will knock your iPad over.

    Great Piece of Tech Hardware

I have been balking on buying an iPad for a couple of years now. Since I started working w with electronic health records, I decided that it was a good time to purchase an iPad. I find it very convenient that I can carry everything at my fingertips when I am in clinic, but also in a very compact device. At first I thought "Why would I need a physical keyboard when the on-screen keyboard is there?" However, I have found that, if I am sitting down to type for a few minutes, the physical bluetooth keyboard is a nice addition to the functionality of the unit. My wife and I have used it when we travel with our son. Being able to operate it with one hand is very convenient. We use to take our netbook along for general necessity but now, the iPad does everything that we wants. We bought the WiFi and 3G model but have not linked it to our Verizon account yet, so cannot speak to the efficiency of the OTA signal and functionality. Most of the time WiFi is available so it works pretty slick that way. The lack of Flash support is mildly disappointing, however I haven't found that it has been overly hindering to our experience web wise with the iPad. The video that it takes is very good quality and I was pleasantly surprised with how decent it was. The still camera on the other hand, is grainy and leaves a lot to be desired. My wife's iPhone 4S has a much better camera on it. Granted, I am not taking professional photos with it, however a token camera is below Apple's normal stellar quality of customer interface and device satisfaction. Music wise the speaker is adequate and does a nice job with the volume and clarity of music. The integration of iOS5 and iTunes with wireless updating now, just increases the functionality of the device. Overall I would rate this a good purchase. I do believe that the price point could be lower but am happy overall with the value of the purchase.

    lives up to Apple's advertisements

with all the reviews of Apple products out there... you should know what you are getting and what it will do before you buy. This is NOT a replacement for a desktop or laptop computer, but a portable 'mini-puter' to do minimal things while on the go. Great for checking email, surfing the web, playing music, etc... but limited in power functions like photo editing, complex word processing, presentation development, etc. The best thing about Apple products is they work... no headaches with help lines trying to figure out if your problem is hardware, software or distributor related... it just works. Much more expensive, but it just works... how valuable is your time on a phone holding for a technician who won't be able to help you, anyway. It just works.

    A giant iPhone

The features are fine, with consideration to things everybody already knows about with Apple...Flash Player, format compatibility, blah blah blah. So I'll just say the device itself is fast, has adequate memory, and syncs well with our Mac (no-brainer, right?). There are some nice apps made specifically for the iPad. The month-to-month plan is a very small data amount unless you want to get into crazy dollar figures, and you have to pay the "activation" fee each time. Not truly month-to-month, now, is it? Looking back, the strictly wifi (non-3G) version would have been a better choice, with a wifi hotspot if you're not afraid of a two year commitment. Check coverage maps carefully.

This thing is awesome. It will totally revolutionize how people take in media on all levels: video, audio, print, social etc.... If you're someone that spends hours surfing the net and playing with apps on your iphone or other mobile device then you'll definitely want to get an ipad; you'll never want to use your iphone again. It makes everything much easier to view and/or read and it's all right there at your finger tips. I don't think I will ever need to purchase a hard copy of a book or magazine ever again as I'll upload it directly onto the ipad.

I have a PC and I switched to an Ipad for travel purposes - weight, ease of Internet, etc. It has worked well for me BUT not having used n Apple in 10 years has made getting used to it too much time . Its limitations and ease of transferring data from PC are significant, especaily without instructions other than the on line manual.

I debated for almost a year before finally purchasing the Ipad 2, the only regret I have is waiting too long. I am more then impressed with the speed of the verizon 3g service and even the coverage. I had good service sitting in a treestand in northern michigan while hunting. I have other Apple products such as Iphone and Ipods but not a Mac user. This product integrates seamlessly with all of them. excellent battery life which is one of the reasons I waited for the Ipad 2 to arrive. Upgraded OS5 works flawlessly. very happy with the purchase for its intended use, do not expect it to be a laptop, it is not but it is not intended to be. I do wish they offered a larger harddrive than the 64 gig.

I initially was going to purchase an Android as I never wanted to become an iSheep. However the company I work for purchased this for me prior to me buying an Android and I must say I'm impressed. The iPad is very intuitive, performant and is a very capable business as well as entertainment device. The price is too high IMHO but since I didn't have to pay for it, price wasn't much of a concern. Would I buy one with my own money? Yes, but probably not the fully loaded version (memory, 3G, etc.)

    IPad2 Lack of basic features

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ok, Hammertime. After purchasing the IPad2, I discovered you cannot print from it unless you are sitting near a microwave sized printer with Airprint capability. Apple Restricts users to APPLE enabled printers, of which there are NO mobile printers available. If I'm sitting in my office, or at home, I'm on my Laptop, or Desktop, Not this IPad2, with restricted ability to print. Or if you carry a wireless router in your pocket, you might be able to hook up to your microwave size printer, again no mobile printers, period. That being said, if you are 14 years old, and want an out of this world gaming device, this is it. There are limitless apps for you. This is not, and will never be ( straight from APPLE ) a business tool. It is meant for ppl looking for a gaming or entertainment device. Mine is a paperweight.

I really like it. This is my first Apple product I would recommend it to any body that need to keep notes, get on the web, gps, keeping contacts, and take a photo and a long battery life 10hrs+ The one selling point that sold me was the Verizon you don't have to buy a 2 year contract. I'm no expert on things like this but I love it. The one thing I don't like is it does not use flash on www.
