    Nice hardware, frustrating software

I have used Android for several years, but decided to try an iPad for the learning experience. About 90% of the apps I use also have Apple versions, so that all works pretty well. The frustrations are: 1) I use LastPass for security. On Android, it auto-fills passwords on most sites. On iOS, Apple requires changes to each app before LastPass can work with it. Almost none of my normal apps are supported, so there is a lot of cut and paste required. 2) I use the SwiftKey keyboard on Android with a number key line across the top. Swiftkey, and all other keyboards on iOS, don't have the number line. The result is passwords with letters and number are very cumbersome to input, switching from the letter to number keyboards constantly. 3) Apps icons can only be four rows across, and can't be placed anywhere on the screen. All icons are automatically moved as close to the top as posslible. I like to have apps icons in the same relative places on my phone and my table. These iOS restrictions meant I essentially had to redo all my Android phone icons to match the iOS placement restrictions. Bottom line: I think iOS is overbearing and kind of sucks compared to Android.

Ideal size, slowest “new” processor, high price

Released in 2015, it’s A8 processor (same as iPhone 6s & 6s+) has not been updated since... But if you want the 7.9” screen dimension (I find it perfect for ebooks/inconspicuous at work), this is the only Apple iOS way to go. Currently (as of May 2018) the iPad 2018 (with an A10 processor) is $100 cheaper at Best Buy, but again it’s 9.7” and about twice the size of the 7.9” iPad 4 Mini. Incidentally as of 2018 the iPad 4 Mini’s hard drive has been updated to 128 GB, that’s better than the original 16 it initially launched with, so I guess that’s something. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPad_Mini_4

Bought to place an older standard size iPad which I could no longer update. Size, clarity of screen and weight are great. I am disappointed that I cannot use some favorite news apps, without my glasses, because I cannot enlarge print to readable size as I could on standard size iPad.. I usually fell asleep reading with old one but when I did it with mini, when I awoke it was very hot to the touch so I don’t feel I can do that as I don’t feel it safe to do so. That never happened with older iPad. Therefore, I use my old iPad at night. Also, even though I have changed as many setting as I can the Battery runs low rather quickly so I have to turn off WiFi when not in use. All and all my preference would be standard size iPad but I could not afford one with sufficient memory. All and all I found it to be okay (with above caveats.)

The iPad mini 4 is a great product. Arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. The online purchase process was fraught with problems which were partially due to strict regulations on credit cards. Order was cancelled during this problem and sale expired. Customer service made this right and gave rebate in a timely fashion. Purchase was eligible for free micro trend security software for 6 months. Best Buy immediately sent an email with download instructions. Downloaded ok but unable to use because the subscription immediately expired. Called the geek squad for help. After 20 minutes on the phone they told me they could not help and that I need to go into the local store to get the product downloaded. So my rating reflects the purchase process not the product.

The iPad mini 2 like the iPhone 4s were just the right size. Steve Jobs had it right. The phone fit in a jean pocket no problem. The iPad mini in a Lab Coat pocket. Very use and un intrusive. The Mini also big jacket pocket. The iPad mini 4 is nice. It is faster then the 2 was. However after using the latest iPad with all the trimmings, meaning keyboard and pencil the mini is not what it needs to be, complete. It works for reading at night and small tasks. Battery is great on it. I got it on sale which made the purchase worthwhile. The latest iPad is by far the best bargain in tablets even when not on sale.

The iPad mini 4 is the “latest” iPad mini you can buy. Unfortunately, Apple has yet to release a new iPad mini or updated mini in years. But this is the form factor I like and so this was the product to buy and the day to buy it. (Black Friday Sale) It’s not a high performer and when you load iOS 11 it starts to lag from the get go. But if you like the size of the tablet and you are an iOS user, this is the best and only one you can buy these days at this size. Did I mention that Apple has yet to release a newer iPad mini? If there were no Black Friday deal, there’s no way I would have purchased this tablet. Thank you Best Buy for having the best deal in town on this product!

    An Apple Quality Glitch

The Mini4 was purchased as a replacement for another Mini4 that had become unreliable with frequent shutdowns and short battery life. The compact size of the Mini4 was the selling point even though it had an older processor and features. To our surprise it had a major quality problem - the volume button worked intermittently or not at all. Back to Best Buy for an exchange. Took forever to find one in stock and process the exchange. Subtract two points for quality and service.

I recently HAD to purchase an ipad mini4 for work. This is my first Apple Ipad and from what I have seen with my wife's obsession with Apple is that this is just like the rest of the devices. I personally use a Microsoft Surface Pro that would run laps around any apple product but the Ipad mini isn't meant for computing power. This Ipad mini4 gets the job done and the camera works great.

Its not for me. My wife loves Apple iPads. She lost her mini 2 and this is a replacement. I could not make myself give this 5 stars, but it is unfair to only give it one since it is not mine. She would recommend. I have to add that she has not been able to import her profile from her Apple account yet. She has an appointment with Apple on the 9th to recover it. Just one of the reasons I do not like Apple.

After just 18 months the screen became defective. I did not drop it or damage it in any way. In fact, I always store it in a case when I’m not using it. But the other morning the screen was bad. A real bummer.

Good so far. Not to fond of the on-off button. Probably better if using fingerprint to log on, otherwise you have to use the button to much. This was a bad idea on my latest IPOD as well. The older versions of login screen were better for me, hit the button once and slide finger across the screen.

this ipad mini4 comes in a good size but since it was made in 2015 the processor was A8 and its outdated and operates a bit slow. even tho i got it on sale but still not worth buying the product when you can expect it to die out as apple makes newer items. new apps requires new processor and speed which i prefer to buy ipad pro instead.

Since the last update, the memory is almost non existent, especially if using my kindle app. I now need to charge my iPad mini 4th generation 2-3 times daily. I understand this is a problem between the update and the kindle app. I have tried all the fix suggestions listed online to no avail. Very disappointing.

I bought this for my granddaughter to start learning her ABC's, numbers colors etc. iOS ecosystem has a lot of fun apps that kids under 5 can get jumpstarted with. As for my experience, this size is too small. My big hands often miss the touch points and the onscreen keyboard is not good for me, but my grandkids have no problem with this size iPad.

It's outdated model for sure, but the size and weight is good for one handed holding. So consider this trade off while comparing it with ipad. If you mainly use it to read some book and listen to some music, this is perfect for you. Use a lot of apps and games? don't buy this one.

I bought this iPad to replace my iPad 2. So far I have had 4 of them, all of which are not charging with anything except the cord it comes with. I am now going back and forth with Apple over this issue. Even got one from the Apple Store and still having the same problem. Not at all happy, just want one that works.

I don't know is its related but the iPad does run out of power much quicker than previous model and does get hot which seemed to cause a screen black out. If you have a 3 I'd stick with it. I do see a difference in speed, etc, but my previous model was one of the originals. I don't think you'd see it with a newer model.

Honestly, I bought it Geek squad refurbished, however a few months later out of the blue I got water damage on it! it never touched water or was exposed to moister, as it is sitting in my bedroom. I would be careful of geek squad refurbished things

The iPad Mini4 is a decent tablet with enough speed to perform basic functions such as emails and surfing the web. I found the display to be a little to small and sometimes difficult to read texts from some web page. The 128G memory size helps since iPads are not upgradable or have external storage capabilities.

This iPad is too small and feels like a galaxy tab. I like big screens more like the 12.9 I had previously. If you like small and portable then this is it but if you like big screens then go higher. This item is just like any other iPad except that it is faster than the old gen iPads.
