Direct plug in to the old dock to the new lightning plug. Gave it 4 because of the price and high profile. Since the adaptor is a little bit tall, the I pad is slightly elevated and tends to fall backwards because there is not enough support at the back. Otherwise, this adaptor works.

I had some old Bose speakers just laying around I was thinking I would never ever be able to use since they had an old iPhone connection, however talked to a nice gal at Best Buy who suggested I purchase this connector. It has worked great with my new iPhone and I have been able to listen to clear music.

All the pictures and packaging suggest it's the same size as the old 30 pin charging cable connector buts it's actually smaller. Bought this for my parents who replaced an old iPad with a new one and liked the sound dock they had. It plays the music and charges (some people have issues with the charging)

I needed this adapter to use my newer phone with my older BOSE Sound Dock. It's a little wobbly, as the phone is heavy. Best to have something to take up the space between the phone and the dock. But does the job!

This adapter let's you connect legacy Apple 30-pin plugs into your iPhone 5 or newer, which can be particularly useful if you have older-model devices that were tailored for older iPhones/iPads, but the price seems steep for the basic functionality it provides.

I wanted to use an adaptor instead of buying a new car charger, but the lightning adaptor is so short that I could not use it even with my very thin phone case. I immediately returned the item because I could not use it; it was actually cheaper to just buy a new car charger.

This part works very well with my apple ipod that was also purchased at A Best Buy Store. It looks nice and fits well to adapt my apple ipod to my radio docking station it is white and is the same color as my apple ipod. The adapter plugs in either way, eliminating any guesswork on which way it goes. I am very happy with my purchase.

I got this adapter to be able to use my old 30-pin cables and devices (like the camera adapter, auxiliary GPS, etc., and it works perfectly. (I understand some "off-brand" devices don't work properly but genuine Apple devices do). I bought an "open box" unit from Best Buy and it's like new and a better value.

This is 1 of 2 products from Apple that allows you to connect your older devices to your new phone. In my case, it was the cable to my car's radio system. HOWEVER, if you protect your new phone with a case (like I did), the lightning connector on the adapter, WILL NOT REACH THE PHONE THROUGH THE CASE. You can, instead, by the adapter with a 6in cord. That will work, but it is very expensive (much more than it should be, but then Apple has us without much choice, again). What I ended up doing (after the fact), is to purchase a lightning connector extension (3rd party) through Amazon for only $8. Solved my problem perfectly. So, be a smart consumer and do your research BEFORE making your purchases.

Works great. A bit pricey and you must separate your Otter Box a little bit to get it to fit but once you do this it works well. Only bought it to convert our adapter for the 4s to play iTunes through the radio. Wish apple would make it a little thinner but otherwise it works great.

Won't fit with covers on your phone!! Shooooooooooooooooot

I purchased a new ipod that has the new smaller connector. I have a great ipod player with wonderful speakers, but it has the old wider connector. I purchased this as a "go between" to connect my new ipod to my old sound system. Works great. It was a lot cheaper than purchasing a new sound system.

Helpful for the change in adapters for the apple products

The adapter enables me to use my existing power cords and accessories from my old iPad on my new iPad without any lose of performance. The salesman told me that when using my old photo transfer adapter I might experience some slowness. I did have to wait a few seconds on my larger video transfers, but it was still pretty fast.

Didn't work at first. I switched the order in which I plugged the device in & it worked. (Attaching the adapter to the speaker & subsequently connecting the ipod did not work. Attaching the adapter to the ipod first, then connecting the "combined unit" to the speaker worked.

Use for car , as adopter trying to charge my phone .

I brought in an old cable I used in my car to attach my old iPhone to the car so I can listen to Pandora. I asked a BestBuy guy for a replacement so I can use my new iPhone with it & he recommended this one. He was right. I attached it to my old cable & it worked like a charm. Thanks BestBuy guy

My Can-Am Spyder has a cable from my stereo with an Apple 30 pin connector. The only problem is that Apple no longer makes any device that accepts a 30 pin connector. This adapter allows me to connect my 9.7" iPod Pro, or my iPhone 7, to my Spyder as an audio source... and use the radio to control it.

Does the job I needed it to, it charges from old cables.

Most *protective* cases, is what I mean. The plug is flush with the adapter. so the protective housing of most cases won't allow it to go into the phone. However, if you have mostly 30 pin chargers around your house, this will be a great way to save money.
