I'm a heavy Windows PC user, over 25 years experience... building my own PC's, setting up custom waterloops, running (now exteinct) SLI set ups, etc etc. I was very anti-apple.
However I do carry an iphone and have an ipad, and after reading all the reviews, to give Apple one more chance at a desktop computing. Have to say I am loving it. It's definitely a different world, but now that I understand it things better, I love it! Let me explain.
Although the macbook can definitely play some games, especially now with the M4 chip, I don't really see it as a realistic alternative to my Windows PC with the 4090 GTX. But what I love about the Macbook is how I can move things between my ipad/iphone quickly and easily. And at first glance, that doesn't seem like it's worth the price tag. A small Apple Mini can achieve that at a fraction of the cost. But this is a portable powerhouse. I now can have my photos on my iphone readily available on my laptop, my emails readily populate on my macbook in an intuitive app and popup (let's face it, it's better than Windows). I can seemlessly migrate my things from one app to another. This means I can move all my data, I can create content, on the fly, anywhere, on the go. It's powerful enough, it's interconnecting all my gear.
Some drawbacks as mentioned is , it's still not a realistic gaming powerhouse, but it's getting awfully close. The unified memory system took me a while to understand why and how I'm losing memory. And I can't expand this on my own if I wanted to. In a Windows laptop most manufacturers allow this and even show you how to do it., whether it's RAM or NVME hard drive space.
Without rambling too much, the bottom line is everything's very smooth, everything's connected, suddenly using my ipad as a secondary monitor on the go is awesome, having all my photos/videos readily available to easily content-create is great. The experience is different, I recommend everyone switching over to Mac to spend 30-60 minutes watching videos, after that you won't even turn back.

Picked up the MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip in open-box excellent condition and couldn’t be happier. I was a little nervous about the condition, but it arrived looking brand new with only 2 battery cycles. It’s insanely fast, the display is gorgeous, and everything runs smoothly. Fantastic deal and an even better machine.

I've been holding off on buying a new computer for awhile now and I'm so happy to have made this purchase during the labor day sale! I got a great price and everything I was looking for in a laptop, including great sound, speed, and display. I have an IPhone, so it made the most sense for me to get a MacBook so I can easily share between devices. Love this laptop and would highly recommend!

We purchased the MacBook Pro 14-inch with the M4 Pro chip for our 13-year-old son, and he absolutely loves it. We wanted a machine that would truly last him for years, and this one checks every box. The performance is incredible, everything runs smoothly, and it easily handles everything he uses it for now and then some.
An added bonus is that he can game on it, which made this an extra exciting upgrade for him. The Space Black finish looks sharp, and the overall quality is exactly what you’d expect from Apple, powerful, reliable, and beautifully designed. We’re very happy with this purchase and feel confident it will grow with him for a long time.

This Computer to me is to powerful and i probably at least not will unlock its full potential. I love the fact though that the battery is supper efficient despite the fact that it has a super bright screen and high resolution display. This more oriented to your heavy content creator or more power user. I got this computer for when I dabble a bit with LLM where having the more powerful M4 pro chip will shine. I haven't had a mac since the late 2015 model so for over decade i been using windows and linux. I'm suprised to say that i actually enjoy macOS I wish windows laptop would push a bit more for efficiency because you really cant do too many things with out the power brick to charge the laptop but with mac u can. Overall very good job apple. but i do wish that Best Buy offered the version with he Nano Display variant as it sucks this mac sucks with highly lit environments there is a lot of glare that washes out the color. it sucks that its an extra add on i think apple should of just made it standard with the macbook pro line. but overall a good computer.

I have worked in IT for over 30 years and have used Windows, Linux and Mac during that time. I really prefer MacOS and have enjoyed using it for my personal use over Windows for years now. But upgrading to the new MacBook Pro M4 Pro has literally blown my mind! This machine is the GOAT!
Every day I use the usual Microsoft apps, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, ToDo, PowerBI, etc. I can have every app open on my three screens and with three fingers I can swipe up and switch to any app in the blink of an eye! This machine doesn't even so much as hiccups with all these apps running along with Apple Music, Brave browser, WhatsApp, iMessage all working flawlessly. I'm astonished at how my productivity has skyrocketed as a result of having the right hardware for the job.
The M4 Pro may be overkill for the everyday user but for me it has raised my productivity and lowered my stress. I love the keyboard and trackpad but my favorite is the biometric fingerprint reader that allows me to access my passwords at an instant. This alone has saved me a ton of time each day.
Even if it is overkill, go for it! There's nothing like having a lightening fast computer and knowing I won't have to upgrade for several years to come.

The 14‑inch MacBook Pro M4 solidifies its place as a well-rounded, high-performance laptop—delivering laptop-grade speed, near all-day battery life, and a gorgeous display in a surprisingly compact design. It's an ideal choice for professionals, creators, and hybrid workers.
If you need extreme GPU power, step up to the Pro/Max variants—but for most users, this one model does it all. You need a docking station.

This is my 4th Macbook Pro with this one replacing my 2019 16" Intel I9. The M4 Pro chip is really fast, the graphics are smooth and the boxier redesign is nice. I am enjoying it so far, it is a great upgrade especially if you are still on a Mac with an Intel chip. Battery life has been great so far. My main concern coming from a 16" down to a 14" were the speakers but these have been great too. My only real complaint is Apple going back to a magnetic charge port (that is different from the earlier years port) and ditching the USC C charger. It was nice having one cord that could charge everything. Besides this, I love everything about it.

I've had MANY Macs and MacBooks over the years. With the M4 Pro MacBook Pro I took the plunge and man am I happy. This thing is super fast. I was a bit apprehensive about going from a 15" MacBook Air and losing some screen real estate but the quality and brightness of the M4 Pro's screen more than makes up for it. Also when I use it in clamshell mode on my desk it takes up less room and offers that very valuable third USBC port. Totally worth the purchase price.

The MacBook Pro 14-inch with the M4 Pro chip is a powerhouse! The performance is top-notch, especially with 24GB of memory, handling multitasking and creative work seamlessly. The display is stunning, and the build quality is excellent. It’s a bit pricey, but the speed and Apple Intelligence features make it worth it for professionals. Highly recommend!

I replaced a MacBook Pro 16-inch M1 Pro machine with this one. The M4 Pro chip does indeed have better performance on some things but not noticeable otherwise.
I guess it's kind of like claiming better audio performance from a certain receiver brand when only a dog's acute hearing ability can actually hear the difference.

Great machine. A quantum leap ahead of other MAC's I have used. Good companion to my IPAD Pro and iphone 16 PRO MAX. Love the size and it is a quality build
