To use all the features of this trackpad (scrolling, swiping) you need to have El Capitan installed.

Its ok, not so great if you already have trackpad

If you already using a magic trackpad (previous gen.) there is no significant reason to upgrade to this one. Though I like that it has more surface area compare to previous one. I don't like the touch feeling on this version. Plus, tap and touch function is very sensitive. Most often a simple tap register as touch. So need to take extreme caution while using it. It looses bluetooth connection multiple times a day. I am forced to leave it connected with lightning cable all the time. My magic track pad never had connection issues other than when it drain out its battery. I had to take two stars out due to the connectivity issues and un pleasant touch feeling.

I recently purchased this trackpad, and it has been a fantastic addition to my tech setup. It works seamlessly with both my Mac and iPad, providing smooth and responsive control. The gestures are intuitive and enhance my productivity. Highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their workflow!

    Marked improvement over first version

Apple second attempt at the Magic trackpad is a winner in my eyes. The large surface area and ability to click on multiple services without having to have all 4 corners level along with its ability to charge via lightning cable and no longer needing AA batteries drastically improve version 2 over version 1. Whether this improvement justifies the price is dependent on the buyer.

No real complaints, except the price

Well... To be honest, you cannot get a better trackpad elsewhere. Moreover, Apple Trackpads are always designed and optimized for Mac OS and therefore, you should not really consider others for the purpose. Considering the trackpads that work on Windows and struggling due to software issues, I should have no complaints about this trackpad. Nevertheless, the price point is not really fair. Force touch is a good implementation in my opinions (although some may feel otherwise), however it is not enough to justify the price bump from the previous generation trackpad to this one.

I upgraded my Macbook to iMac. I was not happy with magic mouse that's why I got Magic Trackpad 2 and I have to say it's very helpful and easy to use (like you work with smart phone). I charge it every 2-3 weeks and I don't get tired to work hour and hour with that. I absolutely recommend this to all iMac user.

    Very nice but pricey accessory

Having been a Mac user for 15 years, I am totally accustomed to using a regular mouse (Logitech). Recently, I spotted the Apple Trackpad 2 on display at my local BB store. I played around with it and found it to be quite a unique experience. I didn't see a price posted anywhere so I decided to check it out online after I returned home. To my shock, it came in at an insane $129!! I had to ponder it for a few more days and after reading reviews from others here as well as amazon, newegg etc, I decided to hold my nose and buy one. Once I set it up at home, I found the Apple Trackpad 2 to be an enjoyable experience and easier to use than first thought. The usable surface area is plenty large enough and is adequately sensitive to touch responses. Needless to say, it didn't take long to disconnect the Logitech mouse :) and now I am running almost exclusively on the Trackpad 2. Admittedly, I still find myself using the mouse on rare occasions with certain programs that tend to get along better with mouse gestures but overall I'm sold. Bottom line for me is this: The Apple Trackpad 2 is a really cool and useful device as well as a visually appealing companion to accompany a Mac desktop but at the same time at this price level, its clearly a luxury item. It really should be priced under $100 to be fair, but as we all know Apple branded products demand premium prices. If you're still on the fence like I was, its best to visit your local brick and mortar BB store. Give it a trial run for yourself, see what YOU think. As always, your mileage may vary as to preference.

This is much smoother than the old trackpad. Functions can be changed to fit your needs, long battery life. It can be used while charging. A fine addition to the IMac experience.

With the old Trackpad, I found myself lacking in "real estate" and having to switch to an old Windows mouse when using Parallels. With this version, however, I've basically forgotten about other mice/trackpads.

The new trackpad is nice and large, providing an excellent surface area for selecting text or images, etc. It is precise. However, it does take some getting used. I took a bit of time to recognize the difference, and differentiate, between a strong or regular press. Overall, I'm pleased and glad that I upgraded from my old trackpad. It also has a lower profile, so I find my wrist has an easier time than with the old trackpad.

I have a new iMac, it came with a Magic mouse... I hate the Magic mouse, clunk, clunk, clunk... Trackpad is like using my MacBook, and no more clunk, clunk, clunk on the table top due to small area available... Like Magic, the trackpad solves all of my "issues", ;-)

I'm Apple Geek. But I'm also IT professional. I need to use other than Apple devices for my work. I had used a lot of trackpads in my life. IBM, HP, Acer, Compaq etc. Apple Magic Pad is the best ever... For professional and home users.

    Prefer native trackpad

    Posted .

It has all the features of a trackpad on the MacBook Pro series (at least the ones I use without the touchbar) but I find it is not as sensitive for fine movements, I have seen others comment on that and I can verify that. Trying to get fine placement of items in a powerpoint presentation is frustrating. Do not have that experience on the macbook trackpad. However, I find it WAY better than using a mouse especially with all the gestures you can use to find what you are looking for on a busy desktop. I returned it after 2 weeks. I put away my old bluetooth keyboard and am now using the native keyboard which i find inferior to the older ones. Much noisier and I do not like how they resized the arrow keys. Guess I am just cranky. Been using macs since 1984 with my 512K "fat mac."

Excellent trackpad, instant setup, but it is glass

Great trackpad, works fabulously on Mac and even in Windows in a pinch. Setup is absolutely trouble free. Value is questionable, the price premium just because it's Apple is hard to justify/ The surface is glass so it can break.
