good protection, decent functionality, but the magnet is not strong enough and it frequently disengages from the iPad. i love how light it is, and the quality is very good. But I think it could benefit from a little more thought into how it folds- viewing angle options when supported by the cover are limited. color selection is not all that great either. but i have to admit i haven't seen anything out there that's better for the price and weight.

Everything about this case is for the iPads protection as far as scratching goes. It won't protect from hard knocks like a hard case will but it still does a pretty good job as far as sliding it in and out of a book bag or desk drawer. It makes it feel more rigid while handing it to someone else, or actually holding it yourself. The camera hole is right on and I don't have to remove the cover to charge it or plug in the adapters. I'm amazed at how long the battery lasts now, and not only that but my alarm clock app still goes off at the correct time even though the iPad is at rest. I personally feel this is money well spent for this item..

The cover is easy to use and keeps the screen protected. Maybe I haven't messed with it too much, but I only see about two way to set your iPad up using the magnets. I think I would really like to be able to set it up on portrait, not just landscape views. Other than that, it is sleek and easy! It is also good quality. It hasn't gotten dirty or falling apart like other covers I have seen. It also turns your screen off and on when you close and open.

great cover, lots of protection ,saves battery life!

I recently bough the new iPad shortly after it was released and needless to say, I had a very difficult time finding cases for it because the depth dimensions are slightly different than the iPad 2. I bought this cover as it seemed to be the least bulky of all of the other cases. The fact that it was an official Apple accessory also led to my decision in buying it. The reality is that this is a very intelligently designed cover. The magnetic properties and quality construction have made it great so far. The only caveat is the price. This should be priced at least $10-15 less...

I purchased one of these right after I got my iPad. We had a tornado followed by pouring rain and it completely destroyed the room that my iPad was in. Digging through the rubble we finally found the iPad, opened it up & it was still working (and still is). This case is the best!!

A little mixed about the case, but I like it more & more everyday mostly because of how slim it makes the iPad, and because the polyurethane material has a good feel & grip to it. The only 2 cons I have with it are opening the cover and it standing upright. The main things dislike is the cover is hard to open because it's slightly smaller than the iPad glass, so you really need to you your fingernails to get it open. The Smart Cover overlays the entire glass and is easy to open. I only wished the Smart Casewas the same way, but it's not. The second con is that the iPad doesn't stay standing up as well assuming the Smart Cover, mainly because the Smart Case has more material on the sides and back so it pushes the iPad more forward audit becomes wobbly. If you can look past those 2 things, then this case is great and nice, mainly due to the fit & feel with the iPad and that it's very slim and compact.

Would highly recommend, saves the battery and protects the screen, not heavy either.

This cover does the job of protecting the ipad2 and is very simple to apply. It can be a bit awkward when it is folded back behind the pad when you are using yor iPad for either reading or for games. I find that I just remove it entirely when using the iPad. Not a big deal since it is so easy to reapply.

I enjoy this case. It is easy to use and enough protection for my ipad. It's not too heavy. Just right.

This is a fantastic smart case! I love it! It is very light, and doesn't add hardly anything to the weight and dimensions of my new iPad. The feel of the "skin" is really nice. It protects very well: I dropped my iPad a couple of times and the case protected it nicely. I just wish there was a way to prop up the iPad with the case. While you can fold the cover into a triangle at one side, the amount it props up the iPad while reading is minimal. However, other than this, I love the case!

My wonderful family surprised me with an iPad 2 for Christmas and i wanted to protect it so i purchased this cover after reading lots of other reviews and info about it. I really like this cover. It folds into a great stand or lays flat against the back of the ipad.. It works well with the back cover I have. The fact that it wakes the iPad when open and puts it in sleep mode when closed is pretty cool. The dark gray doesn't show dirt like the lighter colors. A good purchase.

This is easily the best Apple Smart Cover on the market. It provides the same functionality as the leather models but it can take more abuse and it doesn't show dirt like the lighter colors do. I owned the black leather Apple Smart Cover for 7 months and I had to replace it with another case. The cover had worn edges that were almost exposing the metal underneath, new scratches had formed, and I had to wipe it down about once a week. The only upside to the leather ones is that they look more professional. Other than that, they are not worth it. Sme people might be turned away from the bland dark gray color but it looks more professional than the lighter and pastel colors and it hides dirt better too. This Smart Cover, like the others, works with the iPad 3 (aka the new iPad) so that it will wake the unit up and put it to sleep. The magnet that holds it to the iPad 2/3 is strong enough to pick the iPad up so you don't have to worry about it coming off at random times. You can fold the cover over and use the iPad in various positions. My only gripe against this is that the cover does absolutely nothing for the back of the iPad. It leaves it fully exposed and the brushed aluminum will scratch over time with standard use. I highly recommend buying a back snap cover for the iPad if you want to use this. Best Buy sells ones from Belkin for $30 that fits the iPad 3 and it doesn't add much bulk. Doing so drastically increases the cost of using Apple's Smart Cover though. I spent over $70 with tax on this and the Belkin solution. However, it is currently the only way to guarantee you are buying a case/cover that will wake an iPad 3 and out it to sleep. Until 3rd party manufacturers adapt their cases to the iPad 3, there is no other option except waiting.

This was recommended by a friend and I would recommend it too. It is easy to install and provides good protection for such an expensive item. I like the way it folds into a hand hold which doubles as a prop for hands free viewing. Given the other prices I saw for protective covers I consider this a great value for the level of protection it provides.

The cover is practically a necessity if you plan on transporting your iPad. It's light-weight while protecting the glass portion from scratches. I prefer the cover over the case because it allows you to maintain the feel of the metal back. The cover folds into a "tripod", allowing you to set your device upright. That process takes some practice, but in the end, is quite useful.

great fit for apple ipad, easy access and protective!

This cover almost fits my iPad 2 like a glove. I'm sure it fits the 3rd Gen iPad even better. This is still my cover of preference above all others. It's the most minimalist design out there, and the feel of it is great. Definitely recommended for those who want the slimmest and best looking cover for their iPad.

I was at first looking for protection as a top priority but after speaking the sales agent, she directed me to this case. It's light and the iPad fits nice and snug. I am really happy I did not get something heavier.. As a footnote, if you are not one to take care of your gadgets you may want one of the heavy duty cases...really like it!!
