The Apple Watch is excellent for made control your health

My mom’s in her mid-70s, and she does have an iPhone and experience using smart wearables - mainly Fitbit and Withings; but, she’s not an expert in fully taking advantage of all the features - more on that later. I figured it was a good idea to get her an Apple Watch for Mother’s Day this year. Why? Few reasons - for one, I figured that the native integration with her iPhone’s health and fitness apps would be easier to use and understand vs a third party app, second reason was fall detection, followed by the Watch’s Emergency SOS feature, the heart rate and ECG monitor, ability to easily use ApplePay, and a few other features that her current wearable does not provide. I was right about the the native health and fitness integrations - she makes it a goal to fill in all three rings everyday, where on her previous wearables just burning calories and meeting that goal was enough; she’s also learned how to do her own ECG and monitor her hearth health, and even filled out her Medical ID on the phone and included a list of prescriptions and contacts. Last weekend, she confirmed that getting an Apple Watch was a great idea; when doing some yard work, I guess she slipped or somehow almost fell, and the watch asked her if she was ok or needed help - personally, I have never seen how fall detection works or what the watch does, but based on what she told me and looking it up online it seems like she triggered fall detection, and I’m glad it worked and that she knew to confirm that she was ok (I had not told her that the feature was on, since I hadn’t gotten to it - trying to cover 1-2 features every few days so she’s not overwhelmed). Another feature that she found on her own was the one that measures decibels - hilarious actually, cause my dad tends to speak a bit loud and also tuns the TV volume up a bit much and now he’s always reminded to lower his voice or lower the TV volume because “the watch won’t like it if it’s to loud”. ...which has made him a bit paranoid cause now he thinks Apple is spying on him. There’s a few things that could be improved by Apple that she has complained about. Her biggest complaint has been the battery life, she had gotten used to her Fitbit lasting about a week, and when she got the Withings watch it lasted for almost a month; where the Apple Watch needs to charge everyday. Her next complaint has been closing the green ring (Exercise ring), she will go on her long walks and realize she forgot to tell the watch she was on a walk, so ends up with the green ring only 1/4 full - and maybe that’s a good thing because it makes her exercise more since she ends up trying to do core or yoga workouts to close the ring; but with the Fitbit, it would record things as workouts after a few minutes without having to be told it was a workout. Along the same lines, there will be times when she forgets to end a workout, so ends up recording a 3 hour walk; when I know she never goes over 45-90 minutes. Another complaint was the Sport band; I guess it’s not so easy to put on according to her and my aunt - that’s an easy fix though, and solved it by getting the Milanese loop strap; which she loves how easy it makes putting the watch on or taking it off, and also loves the look. She’s also discovered that Apple offers a wide collection of Sport Loops (note, not the same as the Sport band) and leather straps; so hopefully accessorizing doesn’t become her new thing. Overall, I’m glad the Apple Watch has not been a struggle for her to understand, and that it’s packed with features that could benefit senior citizens, like heart monitoring and fall detection.

The only thing I was unhappy with was with the band it's supposed to be gold with the gold little button and then the gold swirl in the inside and mine was silver so I want to know what do. I do to get this correct?

Got this for my wife as an anniversary gift. She is generally reluctant to learn 'new technology' but jumped right in with this. She already uses an IPhone and IPad so this was just an add on to stuff she already knows how to use. Instantly loved it. After almost a months use she is still finding new 'things' and is very pleased that she still is able to communicate when she forgets her main phone. The only comment I've heard from her that could be considered negative is the battery will not last long into the 2nd day (you have to charge nightly). After 24 hours it only had 23% battery life left. It will get you through a day of heavy use though. She likes it and that makes me happy.

This watch was easy to set up and use. It tracks exercise I can get calls and texts if I don't have my phone on me. When placing an order beware the 4 months of Apple Music they give you only comes up as 1 month. When I called Bestbuy they were less than helpful. So the only way to possibly get 4 months is to sign up for the 3 months Apple gives you anyway then reddem 1 month. Such false advertising by Bestbuy once again

So coming from the first version of the Fitbit Versa, this is a sweet upgrade. Of course comparing it to the Fitbit is a completely different ballpark. The Fitbit is a fitness tracker and the Apple watch is a smartwatch, yeah it tracks my fitness but so much more as well. I had an apple watch probably the first one ever a while ago, this one is just a great upgrade from both the first version of apple watch and the Fitbit. The battery life is nothing like the Fitbit but it's because this watch has so many more features. I charge the apple watch every night since it doesn't have a sleep tracker there's no need for me to wear it at night. I honestly will say this was the best investment I've made. I got the GPS + Cellular because it's only $10/month extra on my phone bill with the ease of knowing I will be able to go places without carrying my phone with me at all times. And yes, it's only $10/month, I double checked on that with ATT. (With one $30 activation fee). I also got the cellular because I would have the option to have it cellular or if I wanted to not pay monthly for it, I had that option as well just have gps. The only thing I'm not keen on is the apple watch faces, they are somewhat boring to me, since having a Fitbit there was a HUGE library of watch faces, but that's just minor.

This watch is perfect for my mom. She had fallen and was in need of medical care for 10 hours. This watch has given her peace of mind and safety incase something like her fall happens again. It was easy to set up and she is not tech savvy but has allowed her to learn how to use it easily.

I have all Apple products so it stands to reason I would love this Apple Watch. Which I do. I would say the only negative is that the battery needs to be charged almost daily. So I made adjustments to my watch to conserve the battery. You can find suggestions on the Apple website.

Apple has finally done it, a smart watch with features galore that is easy to use and priced to sell. With this watch, you can forget your phone and still make and receive calls, texts, from anywhere. You can add apps from your phone, and the watch face with all the information you choose to display is always visible as the watch no longer goes dark to conserve battery. Swim with it, play active sports, get sleep stats, calories stats, perform an ECG if you suspect a health issue, or simply check on heartbeats per minute. Note: pick the band of your choosing for elegance. Wear one for a week and you will never go back to a conventional watch

Surprised how much I really like this. This watch does everything. You can connect with anybody, you can send texts, it tells you about your health, it keeps track of everything. It even has one of those “help I’ve fallen” The watch is really a great item

I really enjoy the flexibility of this watch! I am a Registered Nurse, during my job I use this watch for reminders, timer, second hand for heart rates/respirations & able to look at my messages discretely. Have even did the 30 second heart rate for myself! How cool is this?? I also do fitness walking, the watch breaks down my workouts as to my pace, distance & maps my walks, just like I my previous Fitbit did. I have only had my Apple Watch for less than a month & looking forward to learning all my Apple Watch can do!

There ability to take a call from her watch is really great because she loses track of her phone in her purse. The fall alert is really comforting. Otherwise the ton of features just makes everyday living more convenient.

What a wonderful watch with cellular, calling me if I fall and sending ambulance if needed. Also the benefit of EKG checks and walkie talkie too. Of course there are even more benefits as normal plus GPS. Apple is the greatest!!!

Love my Apple Watch. I wear it everyday. Nice being able to quickly check your phone call or text messages without digging for your phone. Only thing I wish was better is battery life. But it does pretty good.

My new watch is outstanding, had a little trouble with the charge at first but it's fine now. There are some cool features that must be turned off to get the most out of the battery. It's a very small inconvenience.

This watch I love- it looks amazing...I get a ton of compliments. It has so many features that I’m constantly looking up videos on YouTube to learn more and more. I’m so happy with this purchase!
