This cable allowed me to access a laptop drive after removing it from the laptop so I could transfer all the files over to a new drive installed in the computer. I would recomend this to anyone who has a need to access a laptop disk drive that is not installed in the comuter. I will keep this in my computer bag for emergancies on the road.

I like this product. I use mine often, and have used the 2.0 SATA Wire in the past. The 3.0 SATA Wire allows for faster transfers when used with a 3.0 USB port. I recommend it. This will allow you to work with SATA drives with ease. The software is good as well.

Great for my multiple hard drives, both 2.5 inch and 3.5 in just plug in and work. It even comes with its own power source and its plug and play with no need for any software. I highly recommend you get this as well because it works without problems or installation of difficult to use software like others.

Since Samsung does not include the copy disk tools with their SSDs I purchased this and was able to copy my old hard disk to the new SSD. I had to copy the DOS version of their program to a CD and boot in DOS to do the disk copy however. Tried to do it via Windows 10 but it wasn't working out.

I've used this data transfer cable a total of three times so far. The first time was to try and recover data from a failing hard drive. Unfortunately there were so many bad sectors there wasn't anything I could do to clone it as-is, and just grabbed the little bit of what I could, but hooking this up and using it as a USB>PWR/SATA external adapter for a drive. Got what I needed and trashed the old HDD. The second and third times I used it were to clone data from a platter HDD to SSD. Worked quick and beautifully. The software is very easy to use and has a intuitive interface that isn't intimidating at all.

I got this to clone my hard drive (SSD) and replace it it with one with more memory. It was so easy that I was waiting for something to blow up or crash. I kept thinking "this is too good to be true" But it is. It worked and so easy . Why can't everythibg be like this with computers?

I bought this adapter on the recommendation of a friend. My job includes retrieving data from multiple laptop drives per week. This adapter replaced an older usb 2.0 adapter. Transfer speeds often approach the limits of the drives I'm working on making quick work of moving data.

The ease of use to set up my new hard drive was great. I had no trouble using it. It also comes in handy for plugging in old hard drives straight to USB like an external drive to see what's on them.

SATA to USB Product--We're All Mad Here

Yup, the horrific technical potential of your laptop as the permanent scribe of your family history--dogs, cats, children, wedding, graduations or possibly even contact with loving grandparents from the afterlife, has succumbed to the silicon version of death. It's body lies helplessly before you and all efforts to bring it back to life (even during the Easter or Passover seasons) have failed. Even when plugged into its personal and loving AC adaptor it will never light up again to brighten your family history.
But it has a soul. It's memories and algorithmic love of your family via intimate association with its fervent and dedicated internal hard drive have an embodied afterlife of sorts.
And, with this cable, you can access the soul of your deceased laptop. It's fond and valuable memories can live on another computer as transferred files. This transformative process will require surgery, so to speak. It will be necessary to remove the still beating heart of your dead laptop in the form of its hard drive for connection to the above mentioned cable.
Then all that has to be done is connect the laptop soul (hard drive) to the transformative cable, plug the USB side of the cable into the soul-sucking working computer, and transfer the files. The sun will once gain shine bright on your family history, the angels will sing--if you know the file structure of the beating heart hard drive.
Peace...

Good SATA to USB3 Cable, Software not so much

The Apricorn SATA to USB3 (HS/SS USB Port on Laptop) cable worked quite well, in both the USB3 Native-Mode and USB2 Compatibility Mode. Unfortunately, the supplied Software (EZ-Gig IV Hard Drive Cloning Software) did not work well. The EZ-Gig Software could NOT successfully Clone the Original Mechanical 7200 RPM Drive to the new SSD. I suspect that even though the Software is "supposed" to be able to clone multiple Partitions, it would only clone 2 of the 3 partitions from my original drive. It may work well with only 1 or 2 partitions, but it does not work with 3 partitions. In Summary, the Cable receives 5 stars, whilst Software receives 2 stars; so I gave the whole package 4 stars.

The cable and included software work great when transferring data from one healthy drive to another. However, being new to this transfer process I was unaware that a transfer would not work if the drive you are transferring from is beginning to fail. If there are any bad sectors in the transfer process the software stops. After reading a bit more into the situation I found that it was probably a good thing that the transfer didn't complete with the bad sectors, and this would more than likely cause issues on the new drive that you are transferring the data to.

I bought this when a beverage caused an instant disability of my trusty, but 6-year-old primary machine. Already having plans for a new laptop, I picked up this cable, removed my old hard drive, and easily transferred important files in just a few minutes. I didn't use the included disk, I just plugged in the USB, and attached the cable to the drive. My new computer read the hard drive as an external drive without any trouble.
FWIW, I did this from a Windows laptop to a Mac OS laptop.

I wanted to switch to a ssd drive for my Dell Inspirion 11 for quicker boot time and overall speed. I used a SanDisk 240 and while the cost of the transfer cable seems high, it is the software that makes it worth every penny. I have never imaged a drive before and not very proficient with doing back ups, etc. I read the instructions first then followed the software step by step and it worked great. Had no problem imaging the drive and when I installed it worked great. So I even changed another drive and again the software imaged it and it worked great again. I used the USB 3 ports on the laptops for the cable but it says that it is backward capable. Now I will be able to upgrade any SATA drive.

This was supper easy to use, just install the software, hook the drive up, let it go, and about half an hour later you're done. Also resized from a 1TB drive to a 256GB drive without any issues.

My daughters laptop had performance issues related to 100% disk usage. All kid priced laptops were sold out since everyone suddenly became WFH. Decided to replace the HDD to see if it would fix it. This allowed me to image the existing HDD to a new SSD with out issue. Installed the new SSD and everything worked perfect. Runs like a new computer.

I bought this because I saw it on the rack right next to the new hard drive I was going to buy. I was thinking about buying a program to copy/clone my current drive to the new one. For that I would have to open my PC and install the new drive, purchase, download and install the software, then uninstall the old drive and put everything back together.
After buying this product I just plugged it into the new drive and ran the software! It runs right from the CD and works great! after the process was complete I just replaced the old with the new and restarted my PC and EVERYTHING WORKED!
I reccommend this to anyone who upgrades or works on computers.
