A baby monitor is only good if it connects!

Maybe it is my internet, maybe not but this thing sucks at staying consistently connected. Intermitted interruptions isn’t good when your trying to keep a eye on your child. Garbage for not bringing the direct link monitor to market which is the reason I went with this monitor.

So much potential but fails as a monitor.

I've been waiting for this Netgear Arlo Baby to be released and now that it's here, i'm a bit disappointed in it's current state. The main feature I was looking forward to was the reduced delay during viewing. Using the arlo app on a mobile device gives at least a 5-6 second delay when viewing. Using a web browser only gives a 1-2 second delay. PROS -Easy to set up (After creating an account it took less than 2 or 3 minutes to be up and running). -Cool features (temp, humidity, music, lighting) -Free recording without having to buy a subscription (does not include continuous recording. Only triggered sound/movement events). -Good video quality -Speaking to the Arlo works very well CONS -Viewing from a mobile device gives a 5-6 second delay in both audio/video I'm hoping Netgear releases a fix in the future.

I purchased this for my son and daughter in law. They love being able to monitor the baby from their phones.

Only my wife could sync her phone to Arlo baby. I could not. Always would stop working. Now does not work at all. Only had it for 4 month. Waste of money.

Great camera with awesome features. We will be first time parents soon and I have been waiting for the release of Arlo Baby! Very easy to connect and get started with this camera - simple. I did have a few hiccups along the way though. I was hesitant with purchasing this camera due to other sub-par reviews, but I am glad I made the leap and got it figured out for myself. I did experience 5 to 10 second lag initially. At first I was like, "this won't work...the reviews were right!". However, I made some tweaks and adjustments and got the camera to operate great with only a 3-4 second delay. Initially I was hooked up to our standard 2.4GHz WiFi. After looking on the Arlo Community forums I got a few tips - and they are: -If you have 5.0GHz WiFi available, USE IT. They recommend using the same WiFi network for the camera and the viewing device. The 5.0GHz frequency helps eliminate interference. -Second, disable Bluetooth. My Samsung S6 always worked well with this camera. However, I had issues with spotty video and sound with iOS (iPhone/iPad). As soon as I disabled Bluetooth it worked fine. We'll likely be using the iPad as our primary monitoring device. -Lastly, make sure you keep your application and device up to date with the latest versions. It seems like Arlo/NETGEAR is actively making subtle revisions to make this the best product possible.

    Frustrating little camera

I bought my camera back in June and have been struggling with little help from Netgear to get my unit to stay connected. Netgear has issues with the AT&T modem/router that I have. They have yet to figure it out, and Best Buy only has a 2 week return policy. But guess what? Netgear does not offer refunds. So, if you have AT&T service, stay away, or you may be out of pocket too. You'll end up with a camera that serves only as a paper weight.

Do not buy! Waste of Time! My Wife is in Tears

Have been up since 3am, five hours going now. Arlo rebooted for some strange reason and was stuck in reboot. Could not resync with network. At least eight factory resets were attempted. Deleted accounts...etc. and no luck. Finally managed to get it reconnected...don't know how. And then it broadcast 27 seconds of video and then disconnected. Meanwhile the annoying little blue light indicates it is connected and operating. Add this nonsense on top of the HOURS of time it took to set-up initially..literally HOURS. This is real waste of time. 1. Does not connect to networks well or stay connected 2. Time lag with NetGear is AMAZING. 3. Strange reboots 4. Unit periodically does NOT respond to factory reset 5. Insulting, if not patronizing, tones used to signal failure to connect. Sort of like failing at a bad game show 6. DO NOT attempt to change any settings. Waited an HOUR for one motion sensitivity setting to be accepted, uploaded to unit, and then rebotted...not a joke. 7. App is terrible....feels llke it was programmed by a Network Admin who doesn't have children and spends all night drinking red bull playing World of Warcraft. ...and this is a baby monitor. What if it goes off network when I need it the most? My wife is crying after being up all night, pregnant, trying to get this thing to work. We almost didn't test it before the baby was born. Thank goodness we did. We are returning it and buying something else from a store other than Best Buy. If Best Buy can't manage the quality of their merchandise then I see no reason to shop there anymore. Stop wasting my time.
