These cameras speak to a 6 month battery life and I can confirm this is the case if you are not accessing the camera everyday. One of the cameras has been outside for months in snow (lots of it ) and below freezing temps. The battery is getting low now just in time for spring cleaning and a recharge. The free cloud version is only free for 4/5 or less cameras.

First off, the Arlo Pro is worlds better than the older, regular Arlo cams. Those things were just plain bad. These Pro cams are good, but still not great. I'm still ticked off that the "talk" function DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! if it did, I would have given another star. The other problems, for me, anyway, is that the Pro still doesn't always start recording immediately upon motion so you only catch the tail-end of the action. The other beef I have is that the motion recording is not based on continual motion sensing but is only 'triggered' at the first motion it detects and then only records for a set period of time (which you can adjust between about 10 seconds and a couple of minutes, if I recall correctly). What I prefer, and am used to from using the app Manything is that the camera continues to record as long (or as little) as there is motion being detected. In other words, if the camera detects a cat running across your porch, it's only recording for 5 seconds. But if it's someone creeping around, checking several windows and doors, you capture the entire event. Other than that, the battery life seems to be reasonable (going on month 2 with still 90+ percent on the batteries), and the app is pretty good, although some parts are not overly intuitive (like finding where you can set the record length). Notifications do pop onto my phone rather quickly, but often when I open the app immediately after receiving a notification, it takes quite a bit of time (20 secs?) for the captured video to show up in the app...by then the scoundrel(s) could have amscrayed! All things considered, for the immense price you pay for this setup, all of those little bugaboos should have been eliminated so I would not recommend this to a friend.

PROS: * Easy install. Getting the ladder out was the hardest part. *Batteries came charged *Batteries last a long time and you can control this to a degree CONS: *Be aware when using night vision. Light colored objects will get preference and darken the surroundings. *I'll have to get the ladder out eventually to charge the batteries.

I aready had the original Arlo cameras which did a good job. This Arlo Pro picture is better, and it also picks up motion better. The 2 way speaker is great but there is a delay also the speaker volume when transmitting is low and makes it hard to hear. No problem picking up sounds, excellent feature.
