Netgear has absolutely no control about their RMA

Guys, If you're thinking to buy Arlo PRO, think twice, because if you need technical support/RMA you will be in trouble (especially if abroad), here's a summary of my case. Summary of the problem: One of the cameras that came in the pack is not syncing with the base. After three resets on the base station I was finally able to connect it. However the camera stays online for 5-10 minutes and then goes offline. I open the back of the camera, remove the battery, put it back again, then it blinks the blue led rapidly, goes online for 5 minutes and then offline again. Because of that, I contacted Netgear's support, here's how my saga started: 1) Contacted support describing the issue and informing that I had an Arlo PRO Product. I spent 1-2 days with back and questions/answers with the technician from Netgear trying to troubleshooting the wrong product (Arlo, and NOT Arlo PRO). Note that I've clearly indicated what was my product in the description of the product. Finally, you identified that it was as hardware problem and indicated a RMA (that would be made in the US). 2) As I live in Brazil and had an imminent trip to the US, we tried to arrange the RMA locally in the US. 4) First response was that a new camera unit would be sent out to my address in the US. At that moment there would be NO need to send the bad unit before, as informed to the Netgear technician. 5) One day later the same guy updated the ticket, he realized that ithe procedure was wrong, and that now I'd need to send the bad unit before receiving the new one. The excuse given was that for some states the previous procedure was the correct one. 6) Considering the above, the RMA was opened by Netgear. However neither I, nor Netgear had any view about what was going on. The Netgear technician put a note on the ticket that the swap of the bad camera by the new one would need to be made 'live' but no one ever acknowledge that, saying "yes", "no" or "maybe". We had not idea if someone was acting on that RMA (neither Netgear, they say that it's not "under their control"). Note that all this started THREE WEEKS before my trip, so there would be plenty of time to receive a feedback (negative or positive). When I arrived at my destination in the US, there were no cameras, no contact, no note, not even a visit from anyone from Netgear. Mission failed, I left the US with the bad camera. 7) Back home, surprisingly I was informed by NetGear's technician that the RMA could be made locally in Brazil! What a surprise! Why this was not told before?? Got an email from [email protected] with instructions in Portuguese (too good to be true). Well, I followed all the instructions strictly sending via postal service the bad unit to the informed address. Again, all went wrong... Three days later, the local post service returned the same bad unit camera with the message 'recipient moved out'. 8) Now the last update Netgear's technician gave me is that the RMA can be made in Colombia (I will not even comment about that, remember that I am based in Brazil) or in the US. Netgear support is a joke, nobody has any idea about how a RMA process works nor control of the process; this is unacceptable for such a "premium" product. The ticket (#27985788) was opened on Jan/26th/2017 and till today I don't have a resolution for my case. Netgear should be shamed for such a ridiculous support.

    No free cloud storage

Arlo has instituted an ‘end of life’ policy no longer honoring the included 7-day cloud storage - despite being able to provide cloud storage if a new subscription is purchased. That’s not how end of life works. Do not buy from this shady company.

    Didn't work for me

I have owned the original Arlo cameras for almost a year and absolutely love this system. When the Pro came out, I was excited and couldn't wait to purchase the Pro for my front door. When connecting it my system, the camera did a firmware update and all seemed well. I set up the camera where I wanted it and all seemed fine. However, about an hour later, the camera showed that it was offline. I put it back online and set the camera up and the same thing happened again. I exchanged the camera for another one at Best Buy and the same thing happened with the second Pro camera. I read on NetGear's site the Pro camera battery give a false reading of being low when in cold weather. This is an issue, especially given that it hasn't gotten below 50 degrees here in GA as of yet. I am returning the Pro camera and am purchasing another original Arlo camera.

    The Camera Stopped Working

I purchased an add-on Arlo Pro Camera, 1st the sound stopped working, then it stopped recording video. It now only works to see live what is happening and that with no sound. The camera only worked for a few months. The warranty is only 3 months so there was nothing offered to correct it, Arlo offered no solution. It's quite expensive to have for only work for a few months.

    Average product

The product is not bad overall: great looks and the view quality is good as well. But the battery life is really . You definitely cannot even go out for a week withOut risking a battery drain. So it dosent fulfill it's promise of the advertised battery life of a few months. Also the extras like battery, chargers are really expensive.

    Detect cars not people !!

Detect cars not people! It is a false claim that it can work indoors and outdoors. I have pointed the camera away from the street toward my brick wall and it still detect cars and ignores people motion. It generated 23 false alarms in one hour. I called Arlo's customer service and they are absolutely useless. Wasted an hour of my time by silly instructions and then concluded that it is by design that camera fails to detect people mortion outdoors in presence of other objects like cars.

    Hardly Usefull

Bought four basic cameras then bought the Pro and thought I was kool BUT soon realized they were garbage. I bought these to watch my second home in Florida and realized that quickly that I would spend hundreds in flights from New Jersey to re-sync every camera nearly every month. First major fault is they don’t always activate and if they do they don’t record for a minimum of ten seconds. That generally ends up recording thin air. The Pro Series brags that it is Audio/Video so you can talk to the person at the door. That’s a complete joke because you need to be one foot away from the camera to hear the faintest sound of your voice. IT SUCKS!!!! After three months the cameras eat batteries every three to four weeks and the batteries are a fortune. THESE CAMERAS ARE AT BEST JUST TO VIEW YOUR JOME FROM TIME TO TIME AND “NOTHING” MORE!!!!

    Unreliable video. Terrible customer service.

My experience with the Arlo has been terrible. I experienced very spotty video quality with freezing video which rendered the camera useless. The worst part about it was the customer service. I opened a customer service query and for 3 weeks they led me around asking me the same questions and telling me to do the same things. It was as if I opened a new claim every time. The product worked great sometimes but more often than not it froze and was distorted. Customer service was downright dismissive which was really frustrating because I'm knowledgeable about this technology but still was courteous and jumped through their hoops and tried all of the silly troubleshooting methods. It sickens me to think what they get away with in dealing with people who may not have a lot of knowledge in this area. Avoid the Arlo product, and the Netgear company.

    1 star is too much

If you want to use this camera without a monthly subscription I strongly suggest considering other more realistic options. Due to the hub's limitations, there is a lag when connecting to the cameras. It was not always like this and Arlo has made some underhanded changes to my app's features which make using the product unbearable. The video quality is not exceptional but rather quite average for the high per camera costs. I have spent a lot of money on upgrades to the system over the years and at this point will give up on this product.

    Complete Garbage

Yesterday in broad daylight someone kicked my door in and the Great old Arlo Pro didn't record one second of it. When i called Netgear they said that the camera that would have captured this act was confusing setting with another camera on the network. I am emotionally bankrupt right now because of what has happened to me and now the camera is detecting and recording rain drops. I am getting 4 push notifications every 5 mins which is making me even more emotionally distraught because i am on egg shells and feel i need to look at everyone because of the incident last night.

    Short battery life

Battery that came with camera wouldn't stay charged so Arlo CS sent another one. Same issue. Would only stay charged about 2 days and would take 3 days to charge. Now it doesn't charge at all. Terrible customer service. Going to switch to another Brand. That was a lot of money down the drain.
