So far, so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased about a month ago. Camera is very clear and works well. Also purchased the 24 hr monitoring plan. Camera does record when sound & motion activated but doesn't record consistently without manually pressing record. Don't like that much considering I'm paying an additional $20 a month for 24 hour cvr recording plan. Oh and the camera has dropped offline a few times and would have to be restarted. Restarting can be done via the app. The app itself works pretty well. All in all, im giving it 4 stars because i feel like we're getting our money's worth. Setup was very easy.

What I was Looking for...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a camera to keep an eye on my dog during the day when no one is home. After setting a budget of $200 it was either the Arlo Q or Nest Cam. I went with the Arlo because of the great deal I got for it and the free 7 day cloud storage basic subscription. So far I'm very pleased. It does exactly what I need it to do. After fiddling around within the app which by the way is very simple to use, I was able to define the camera's zones and set it on schedule when to record. I was amazed at the level of customization I could do with this.. The 1080p resolution is crisp and vivid and being able to zoom in are just some of the outstanding features on it. I will have to warn you that the cam's sensitivity is really high so the slightest sound or motion will set off the recording. It's not a problem for me, but it may be for others. Now you maybe wondering why such a glowing review, but only 4 stars. Well it all stems from the initial Arlo setup. Yes, it's a very simple installation if it works exactly like the quick start guide says., but in some cases it will require some further research to setup due to some wonky firmware. Lucky me, I was that some case. After scouring Google, I found the solution in a post on the Netgear forum. The Arlo's 1.6 Firmware has trouble connecting/syncing to network SSIDs with special characters or spaces in their names. It also has trouble with network passwords containing special characters or spaces. The solution was to set up a GUEST network with a simple SSID (no special characters or spaces) and a simple password (no special characters or spaces). Then sync the Arlo to this GUEST network through the app and then go into the Arlo's settings and download the newest firmware which is I think 1.8 now. The installation of the 1.8 FW will be about 10 to 15 min with the status lights flashing off and on, etc. Once your Arlo is up to date with the 1.8 FW, now go back into the app and sync it to the main network which now can include some special characters (Netgear has a list). It should setup as it was portrayed in the quick start guide and now you can delete the Guest network if you want. I feel this could have all been avoided (and saved me a couple of hours) if Netgear simply placed a pamphlet note inside the packaging that stated the possibility of needing to update the FW and instructions on how to do it and the web address of the solution. Otherwise, it really is an awesome camera albeit the little stumbling block with the initial setup.

Excellent Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very well made, super clear picture and two way audio and you do not need the Arlo base to operate this camera. The zoom and night cam features work better than on any other cam we have purchased.

Excellent Camera - Worth the Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had the Arlo cameras for 6 months now and they have worked flawlessly. Although they are rated for indoor use we have them located outside sheltered from the weather (covered porch) without any problems. These cameras are consistent with the high ratings it has in the customer reviews

Problematic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this device for some time now. I added it to a pre-existing Arlo wireless setup but I immediately got confused by the new system. What was formerly simple became hard to figure out (as to setting up and changing settings). The Q device continues to have connection problems. My main router possibly is a problem, or a limiting factor, but it was not a cheap one. While the wireless Arlo cam has its own router the Q somehow goes direct. I'd think it would be more reliable not less. Does not connect at this time.

very good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We placed these cameras in a older woman's apartment because she had a fall in her previous home and we were out of town and couldn't get ahold of her so the police were called to check on her. Long story shorter, she had fell and could not get up. With these cameras we can check on her from anywhere in the world Now we can help her find her keys, cell phone, tv remote, and most important, make sure she is up and alert. The cameras paid for themself the first few days we had them.

High quality camera, free recording
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera works great and has high deff images. Im giving it 4 stars be ause if you compare the features with nest it appears that arlo is the most features for the money. However, after owning both now if I had the money to pay for the nest recroding i would own that not the arlo. My reasons are that the free cloud recording is only 30 sec clips. The. By the time the camera resets the next 30 second clip, the video has already taken up 5-10 seconds. This leads to missing sometimes very important parts of the clips.
