Great product! Great thing about this is you don't need a base station but you get the same storage as the 500.00 4 cam setup. No bat replacement. Long power cord. Higher res than bat powered version (true 1080). Has the best type of mount that is usually optional and if you want to you can add the 4 cam system later for a max of 5. Like most others you get about half of advertising night vision capabilities but you can get a 3rd party night vision diode cluster to place next to the cam that will allow additional distance which I have done with other systems. Yes it is top dollar but you do get what you pay for in this case. I've had it for over a month and it has gone down once which I'm not sure what happened but after a reset it was back working within mins. If you are not computer savy then this is definitely for you. After unpacking and a quick swift through the manual I was up and running in less than 5 min but I am an IT Director. Even if not I have setup many systems in my career and can say this was by far the easiest. You basically download an app and point the cam to a bar code on your phone and bam your running. At that point you can customize the app but setting a record schedule, apply record triggers like motion or sound, the length of record time, sensitivity levels and notifications. So the bad I would say is the fact you cannot record 24x7 without purchasing additional cloud space. This model is not weather proof. There is slight delay in audio. You only get a max of 2 min record blocks. Night vision is not the best but if you are using for what it was designed for you will be very happy. Stick it inside a room on one corner and you will see everything day or night. If I could add anything I'd add a temp sensor and some type of local storage for free 24x7 recording. Hope this helped!

It came with a cloud to store any recordings. Sends me notifications when there is noise or motion in my house. 1080
Pixels with color and night vision. Clarity is awesome and the quality is great. Complete view of the room.

Great build quality, easy setup, easy app setup. Easy configuration. Arlo offer a basic free cloud storage plan of 7 days which is perfect for my needs, so I appreciate that. NEST needs a plan after a trial.
Video quality and audio quality are great and I get a notice to my apple watch every time movement in my configured zones is triggered. I did my research and if you just need a simple security solution this was the way to go, no battery changing either.

This is a really good home security cam. It's pretty easy to setup and it works like a charm. This is the first and only one I bought (b/c you didn't need a subscription) and i am quite pleased. Audio is clear, video is clear (although for 1080P, I would expect a little more clarity) but it still looks great. The nightvision mode works incredibly. In pitch black, i can still make out faces, etc... I have a feline that constantly moves around, and i have the sensitivity set to 7 and she sets it off quite a bit, but i can tell by the video preview it's her. I thought about lowering the sensitivity, but I don't wanna risk it. It picks up noises as well. The BONUS is you dont have to have a subscription and it keeps a decent amount of recorded video. I have never let it fill up completely, b/c i delete them as they come in, but the notification you get on your phone when it detects something is pretty quick. maybe 4-5 secs? I can walk in my house and by the time i'm putting my stuff down on my living room coffee table, i'm getting a message. So it's pretty quick. I guess i should say the negative is that when it does start recording it only does it in chunks.. 20 secs, 50 secs, etc.. i let it record one time and it kept recording, but not in one constant stream. BUT it does get activated pretty easily and starts recording prior to me entering my home, so it does have that going for it. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a home security cam.

Frustrating until you get two functioning cameras

I'm convinced Netgear produced a lot of Arlo-Q duds in manufacturing. Tech support is off-shore only, and troubleshooting can be frustrating. You don't know if it's a poor setup in the home, or a malfunctioning camera. If you can get escalated to Netgear's advanced support, they will drag out the troubleshooting process with you for weeks & weeks before admitting the camera is flawed. Hopefully, it's not too late to exchange them! I had to go through three 2-pks to get a box with two non-defective cameras. They're a delight when they're working, but the cameras are FUSSY. TEMPERMENTAL even. I could only recommend the Arlo-Q cameras if you're willing to continue exchanging them until you get two reliable units. Additionally, prepare for a potentially complicated learning curve, realizing you'll often know more about camera functionality than Netgear support reps.

I really liked this camera but ended up returning it due to the few second delay between the camera and the display on my monitor. The images are crisp and clear and the night vision works pretty well, the free cloud storage is a nice bonus.
I wanted to use it as a baby monitor but when viewing the "live" feed there is a multi second delay which is not great. After reading up on it it seems that is due to the camera uploading to the cloud and then sending the live feed. The Arlo baby doesn't do this but it is also quite a bit more expensive so I returned this and will just be sticking with my cheap lower resolution foscam.
I'm sure it works great as a security camera to review footage after an incident because the motion and sound detection seemed to activate it just fine but it is not great for what I had in mind.

Was happy when everything appeared to work fine though there are some serious limitations like delayed notification on the app (Android) and nonfunctional geofence feature (never arms when my phone leaves the wifi network, worthless as a setting because the camera status never changed from "disarmed" regardless of how far away I was).
The system went down this week on the first day I really needed to monitor my apartment (maintenance was opening the apartments for painting contractors to come in units and repaint exterior doors and patios property-wide).
The android app is now requesting access to the contact list on my phone...I sent a query to arlo (netgear) support asking why the app needs to access the contacts, have yet to receive response regarding this. Call center rep kept trying to walk me through set up of a new arlo account when I called and asked about the unnecessary app permission...unsure if language barrier prevented her comprehension of the reason for my call.
That said it has some neat features and no monthly service charge for the cloud storage...scratch my earlier comment about email response, I see that I just got a survey asking me how they did on my support call earlier this week along with another email at same time advising me that service was restored and my support case has been closed...I guess deflection of my question/issue is better than no response.
I have been unplugging the cameras when I am home, for some semblance of privacy after reading about NetGear's inherent vulnerabilities and the backdoors built into their code...per a kasperksy labs writeup from several years ago...(that I took with a grain of salt since the US banned government use of Kaspersky anti-virus software last December)...Try a Nest (as if google would be any better) or one of the less expensive options available, there is also the hard drive and private camera network option that allows you to maintain your own secure recording storage...

Good security camera - fairly simple setup, easily configurable allowing you to set zone for motion detection. You can set motion and noise sensitivity. Overall picture quality is good, night vision is fair. Arlo ap has been reliable - includes seven days cloud storage (which is a big plus). Intend to get a second Arlo Q.

The app is slow and takes a few min to connect to the camera. The geofencing only works with one phone and I have to manually turn the cameras on a lot of the time because it doesn’t work. The picture quality isn’t bad. It was also easy to install. Each camera took about 20-30 min to hook up.

Easy set up, user-friendly app, good picture quality, & build quality is solid. To top it off, unlimited free lifetime cloud storage. Will definitely grab another. Electric power source, so I never need to worry about batteries. In my opinion, Arlo makes the best wireless home security. There's something for everyone, at multiple price points. If your plan is to use inside for outside surveillance through a glass window. Keep in mind night time will pose problems. You will need a light source outside, & will also have to deactivate night mode. The inferred lights will reflect off the glass & leave the footage useless. Day time poses no issues!!

This camera was recommended to me by a friend, who purchased Arlo outdoor cameras. I wanted an easy to set-up camera for indoor use to give me some peace of mind. This camera was extremely easy to set up - log in, point and click. It plugs in, so you don't have to worry about a battery if you have numerous notifications over a long period of time. Surprisingly, it triggered recordings with very loud, unusual noises! It's very sensitive (which is what I wanted), including notifications from automatic lights turning on. It automatically records and stores motion (or noise) detected for 7 days. You can download the recordings, if necessary. Or, you can buy a 30-day cloud-based storage subscription. VERY happy with this purchase and would recommend to others for sure!

Have had the camera for a few weeks now. I chose the camera because it has most of the specs of NEST but it comes with free cloud storage. Each 15 sec clip record at 720p takes up a little less than 1mb so it has the potential to record quite a lot with 1gb every 7 days. There is also the option to record manual clips and take still images that you can save to your mobile device from the cloud/ mobile app. The motion also works quite well too and I seem to get an alert with in about 10 seconds of walking in front of the camera. The actual latency depends but is usually less than 8 seconds. You can setup geofencing and you can allow others to access the camera. I will probably buy another even though you can integrate with other smart ecosystems beyond IFTTT. Overall the quality will depend on your internet connection and I haven't seen that huge of a difference between the 720 and 1080 and the audio can be hard to hear when listening to live stream but it works good most of the time.

So Good it Makes Me Homesick

TL;DR Two way audio flawless, HD Video, No subscription needed, Live feed, 5 second delay sometimes, makes me homesick looking at my puppy and I highly recommend.
I went with this camera over Nest and other security cameras is because I do not need a subscription, there's two way audio on the camera, and I can watch a live feed.
Took me awhile to set the camera up because of user error. I kept entering the wrong wi-fi password so it wouldn't connect. Once I got it up and running, the camera works flawlessly. I have the camera set up about 20 feet from my router in my apartment and it is working great. I am currently writing this review from work and watching the live stream. The camera has excellent night vision and the speakers are really clear and loud.
If I had to nitpick, the only negative about the camera is that there is about a 5 second delay depending upon what time of day your viewing the camera.
Other than that, this camera is excellent! It honestly makes me homesick more than anything. I got the camera so me and the misses can check in on your puppy while we are at work. So if you want a camera that doesn't need a subscription, clear HD video, two way audio, and has a live feed; this is the one.
I PAID for this with my own money and no one sponsors me to write reviews. Just want to help out people who are indecisive like me.

Blurry Video during movement

After having a Samsung SNH-P6410BN SmartCam HD Pro 1080p WiFi IP Camera, that they are not supporting very well if at all anymore and certainly not on Alexa unless it's one of their new models, I decided to shop for a replacement. First I started with a dlink DCS indoor 1080P who's picture was not good at all.
So I decided to try out the Arlo Q. I knew it was an indoor camera. I did not go for the Arlo Pro2 because I didn't want a complete wireless system, didn't want a hub unit considering I just bought thier Orbi system competing with each other and wanted something smaller. The video quality was far superior compared to the dlink and maybe a bit better than my Samsung for not much movement. I was not a fan of things going from color to a black in white when it gets dark even without Night Vision.
Bottom line, I noticed that with motion there is very inconsistant video quality and very blurry and even pixilated as shown below. For me, this kind of defeated it being a video security camera. I don't know what the issue is, but it needs to be fixed.
The Arlo storage is really the best thing about the Camera. You can put in zones and get 7 days of storage for free! That is awesome! But you can only have one app open at a time. When you have the app open on a phone and then open it up from another source, it closes the app from the source it was opened up on first telling me that it was opened from another source. What if you or your significant other were reviewing the same alert from different places? What an inconvenience. It has a lot of potential, but n eeds a lot of work. Below is an example screenshot.

With all the media about the elderly being mistreated, I was not about to have my parents in danger. I have had a couple of different camera's to ensure their treatment, all of which were terrible and would have a SD card to remove and take home to place in PC to view, although better than nothing, not good and pic. and sound terrible. I ordered this before it came out to sell and was excited to try it. It is amazing!!!!!!! I have been able to prevent them from a near disaster, falling, by calling and telling them to please check on them quickly. Hearing and seeing how they are treated really eases my mind, as I had moved them from a place where they were mistreated, amazing how people act to your face and behind your back. I would definitely recommend this camera for any need. Picture is "picture perfect" and the sound is quite amazing. Great, great, great to be able to see and know your elderly alzheimer's parents are being treated as they deserve to be treated. I can rest knowing this now.

Overall, Arlo does what just about every connected camera does. I specifically bought an Arlo over say a nest/dropcam/etc... because you get up to a week of free recording. Any other camera I looked at makes you pay for basic viewing with your phone or over the internet.
It does well with night vision, and daytime picture quality is great. I also like that it is AC powered because I never have to mess with batteries. It does not have battery backup though, so you may lose recording capability in case power goes out. I prefer not hassling with batteries over worrying about a power outage but there are other battery powered Arlos out there as well.
Overall, very happy with it and I would recommend it over other connected cameras.

So all cameras will have ins and outs, but basically why this one rocks is you get 30 days of free video storage in the cloud. Most other cameras give you a day or charge you monthly to store data. 30 days is enough that you will never miss a video you needed to reference. Saves a ton of money. Video quality is very good also.

Video and sound quality great. Easy to set up IF Arlo server is up. First night I couldn't connect to the camera. The next morning it connected in less than a minute. Does not have back up recording capabilities but I knew that going in.
