Always Offline! This is a well-documented problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can I sue Arlo if I'm assaulted or burglarized while their product is "offline"? I got this after a lodger in my home became threatening and I was afraid. I called 911 twice! By law, they could stay 30 days! I got Arlo Pro, but one camera was DOA. I got Arlo Q, but watching "live stream" while at work (to make sure my home was not trashed or set on fire) it went offline. Freaking out, I called Tech Support. They wanted me to go home and "reset" it. This defeats the purpose of having "eyes" on your home while you're away. Came home, after one hour of re-installing/re-setting, I got it online. After about 12 hours, "Offline" again. Got home, could not get it to work again. What happens if I'm killed, assaulted, or my home destroyed while ARLO was "on duty"? My home network was FINE and STRONG, (I checked that first) so ARLO's wireless technology failed. I am getting wired, PoE security instead.

Terrible video compression
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One could almost call it a scam that this camera is advertised as having 1080p resolution. When there is no motion going on, the picture looks crisp. I tested this camera in my medium-sized bedroom and the video compression was so bad that it looked like there was a mosaic around my entire body (like they do on TV shows to protect a person's identity). See attached image. To blur out a thief's identity is the last thing you want when buying a security camera. I might expect this from a $50 camera, but since I bought it at $200, I am a little disappointed in the image quality. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it handles low-light situations well (other than the blurring out of the thief).

Has a lot of issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The geofencing feature doesn't work half of the time and I've just ran into an issue where I'm unable to find my camera through the app. So right now it is an expensive fake camera. I've been unable to find a solution and I get put on hold far too long with tech support. I've heard bad things about their support anyways. Wish I could return this, it's garbage and I'm worried that NETGEAR have just given up on the product.

Love Arlo now... hate the originals
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 10 camera Arlo system. I have had the Arlo camera system for well over a year now. I love Arlo. I am not a fan of the Arlo Q or Arlo "wirefree" cameras. I have 2 Arlo Qs, 1 Arlo Pro 2, 4 Arlo Pros and 3 of the old Arlo Wirefree cameras. The wirefrees and the Qs have the same problem.. over time the built-in filter that activates at night gets stuck. This means you either have no night vision or a pink tint when viewing videos. It's a well documented complaint and something Netgear solved when they created the Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2 models. Both of the newer cameras do not use the filter and therefore avoid the issue of it sticking. AVOID THE OLDER ARLO Q and ARLO WIREFREE (No rechargeable batteries) CAMERAS.

Not satisfied with purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought both the arlo 4 camera system and the arlo q. I haven't received the 4 camera system yet, but I did install the arlo q and I am very disappointed. A few things that I'm not happy with: 1. When viewing in live mode there is a10-20 second delay from what is on the screen to actually being done. I contacted support and we tried several things but it didn't help. They were then blaming my Internet. I also have the ring doorbell and there is no delay what do ever when viewing live stream. 2. The second issue is the audio. You really need to yell in to the camera to hear it on the app. Also the two way talking isn't good since when you activate the microphone to talk into the app you can't hear the camera unless you turn off the microphone on the app. I will be returning the arlo q and will see how the camera system is. Looks like I might be trying the ring stick up cam.

Inconsistent performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setting up is not easy. If you invite a guest to have access, they can not set up remotely. The camera has horrible night vision. The camera loses the connection to the internet and can’t be fixed without being with the camera. Not happy with Arlo Q; I don’t recommend it.

Never connected to my wifi & no customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera never connected to my wifi. I attempted installation numerous times. I went to the Arlo community for help and none of the offered solutions worked. All the solutions were from 2017 which I find unusual. If the company isn't available for basic setup help how would they every help with actual camera/recording issues. The actually Arlo company support was non-existent. Don't buy this product!

Just Ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video in comparison to the Nest Cam is subpart and the audio sensitivity from an alert perspective is way too sensitive. Love the various features within the app and the free video storage though. Sadly, think this is going back.

Firmware Bricked Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firmware went berserk after a little over a year. Arlo support said they couldn’t help me because it had been over 1 year. $135 and now it’s a useless paper weight. Thanks for the stellar support Arlo... They didn’t even offer an option for me to send it in and pay for repair.

Do not buy CVR cloud storage has problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Camera is a wonderful concept, good quality but if you rely on the CVR function to record video then it will not work. Ghosting, buffering issues. I have a 1 gig pipe at my office so bandwidth is not an issue, you will spend hours on the phone with the Philippines just so that they can tell you that it is a known issue. Don't buy this product.
