I recently purchased the Arris modem/router combo after my Netgear Nighthawk crashed with a new update. With working from home, having fast wireless internet is needed. The Arris has been exceptional so far. Extremely easy to setup, very fast, and reconnects after losing power quickly. I was a little hesitant due it being significantly cheaper than my Nighthawk but so far, it has out performed and I couldn’t be happier.

I purchased this modem last month. Setup is relatively easy (as long as you give Comcast the MAC address for the modem). So far, I have not had any issues (i.e., lost connections, WI-FI issues, etc.). Also, the modem is very easy to configure through a web browser.

Arris Surfboard DOCSIS 3.1 is top of the line home cable modem & router combo. If you want 1 Gbs speed (up to 10 Gbs) this is the modem for you. Easy set up. Interface is simple to use. Supports Xfinity cable internet (on the list of approved devices for Xfinity) for speed at 1 Gbs. Upgraded the internet service from 200 Mbs to 1 Gbs. This is the right cable modem & router combo that will future proof you for up to 10 Gbs.
Besy Buy service on the other hand was horrible. The website stated store pick up next day. Got online with customer service to confirm pick up in store next day before ordering. CS confirmed. Placed order. Order stated pick up a week later. Changed delivery to shipping. Shipping was scheduled for next day. This seemed to be the same as pick up so no difference. Item delivered 2 days later. Best Buy had no answer but sorry for the delay. Best Buy lost me as a customer.

Works just fine with Xfinity, but if you live in an apartment complex, you may have to have it hard-wired into your building’s service port (rather than the Ethernet plug ins in the wall). Works well in a 750 sq ft space.

This product dedinitely meet my expectations for an upgraded router/modem to match the speed from my gateway. Internet is now fast and supports all our internet work while working from home and all the smart equipment connected to it. Internet cuts off sometimes drops off on its own and I'm not sure if it's the provider or the modem. It was also very easy to install especially with the accompanying app. In all, it's expensive but I'd recommend this product if you are looking to upgrade

Was having issues with my internet with comcast for a long time. I called and they said my current second hand modem was not compatible with the speeds I was paying for in my package, she suggested this modem for me to purchase and it was fixed my problem. Speeds are amazing and set up was easy. Nice compact model and looks visually pleasing.

"I'm loving the speed of this surfboard, especially the fact that I'm avoiding the monthly fee. This surfboard is all I would need for the next 10 years. I love the dual-band WiFi and the ease of use on the interface. I would recommend this to everyone in the market for a modem/router. I have mine on Xfinity internet, and it’s the best service I’ve had so far."

Excellent product, quick installation but much slower setup than some “plug and play”. Our cable company offers an “online setup” option that doesn’t work with this modem/router, but it just takes a phone call to fix.
As for speed and performance: full disclosure: I only use it as a modem and have it bridged, but it’s a fantastic modem and well made. It handles 400mbps speeds very well and has fantastic performance both hardwired and through a bridged modem.

Solid one box router/modem combo. I had a docsis 3.0 modem that wasn’t letting me utilize the speeds my cable provider was charging me for.
With the right placement the dual band works for a modest 4 bedroom home around 2k sq ft.
The app is nice, It’s not as user friendly and lacks some of the features You’ll see on some of the mesh systems but Then again it’s also not mesh system.
Overall if you can swing it it’s nice to not see an extra $10 a month on your internet bills If you move frequently or switch providers you may be out of luck so keep that in mind and decide if it’s better to rent from the cable company or buy upfront. If you do it’s good pick just make sure it’s high and as close to the center of your home as possible.

Before Arris, we couldn’t get WiFi in some rooms, streaming would stop, speeds were slow. Paying $25/mo for XFi Complete with Xfinity and they gave up trying to fix our internet issues. Arris Surfboard fixed everything! Our speeds increased, WiFi signal strong everywhere and streaming is smooth. Setup was easy, there are hoops to jump through but so worth it. Sure, initial purchase seems expensive but we’re going to save a lot more money this way in the long run.

If you are needing a Wi-Fi router/cable modem combo that will pull actual Gigabit speeds for a few devices without much fuss, this one is perfect. That is what I required of mine when purchased a year ago and that is what I got.
If you want to to stream 4k quality TV in one room while you browse online for a new router/modem while your wife and daughter are watching TikTok on their phones and your son is using his PlayStation to test if the “unlimited data” promise from your ISP is truly unlimited, with a couple devices on Wi-Fi here and there, this modem is for you. Mine handled all that and more for a year with little issue.
Now, if I want to do some gaming with my kids…
FAT CHANCE. Even with everything else disconnected, three game systems are just too much for this thing to handle and you should not expect it too.
Taking away one star because the Arris is not actually Arris, it is Commscope and the app that they push on you is complete garbage that never works and their “customer service” goes no further than “have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?” Beyond that and you’re on your own.
Additionally, the manufacturers warranty will have you without a modem for two weeks unless you want to shell out $100 to pay for “advanced replacement”. I recommend the replacement warranty offered by BestBuy for this device and I rarely ever say that.

Upgraded to Cox's GigaBlast and my old Modem/Router (this is an all in one) My old 3.0 won't go over 100mb but with my Cox upgrade and this item my data screams. I get over 1 gig with my CAT 6 cable (Cat 5 also won't go over 100mb so you will need Cat 6 cable) my WiFi is out of this world. Phone download 164.2mb, upload 34.2mb.

I bought this because I didn't want to pay the $14 rental fee with Comcast. I asked what would be a good router/modem to get. Comcast said as long as its a DOCSIS 3.1. I activated myself, but I still called Comcast afterwards to make sure it was working properly. It timed out once and I called Comcast. Rep said it stopped because of it being constant traffic or speed, I can't remember, but the Rep reset the Router and it started working. Rep said it happens sometimes. I can also push the reset button on the modem to see if that works first before calling them.

Again, I don't know tech specs and all, but was getting 2mbps and suffering with Netflix! I upgraded to 5G after xfinity said to do so and they cut my bill $10, gave me their Flexbox streaming unit free, and increased my speed to 600 mbps.... I am in heaven. I touch a link and am there! No lags and bogs. Setup was ok, but the login to the Arris app and site was wonky, never got there, had to call them... I forget why, but it wouldn't let me rename the router. Sparse directions. You get like 4 different names, 2 low speed and 2 at 5G, and it was not clear what to pick or use. I didn't even realize 5G was available to me, for free, so I am very happy. Finally they helped me rename it and make my password instead of their huge one... that was a hassle and they don't have very good instructions, but the thing works fine and fast. Again, who knows in the complex network why things fail... is it the Comcast line, downloads in background, or what? Overall, it is great so far. Just last 7 years for $300, ok?

I own 2 of these routers. Both are in Comcast locations. The xfinity app basically sets the router up for you - you don't have to know anything about computers or networks. I actually got faster speedtest numbers from this router than the ones I was renting from comcast. These will pay for themselves in a year!
