Overall the system is smooth and easy to use. I previously owned Google Nest and less than a year the system stopped working for me. If there is one thing I could change about this product it would be the app. I loved the fact that Google tested my network speeds daily without any interaction on my end. The coverage on this system is ridiculously incredible. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who needs speed, coverage and simplicity. It's because of this product I also purchased the Arris Surfboard S33 which is an awesome product as well.

Super solid WiFi... but some limitations

I bought this with an Arris cable modem. Set up of both modem & mesh router was a total breeze with the app. I connected all my devices (including 3 brand new Sony TVs & a brand new laptop. More on this later). Within 30 minutes of starting I have BLAZING fast wifi everywhere. I pay for 300 mbps service and I was getting 340+ on my phone anywhere, inside & outside in the yard. Definitely enough for 2 people in a large home. In the app you can see which devices are connected to which bands. I noticed that my brand new laptop & one of the brand new Sony TV's was connected to 2.4g band & my Nest thermostat was connected to 5g band (which it should definitely be on 2.4g band, it does NOT need 5g to operate at all). So I started looking on the app for a way to assign the proper band to the proper device. Nope, not happening. So I thought surely I could log into the router with my laptop & do some manual configuration. Nope! Again, not happening. Now here comes the "contact tech support" horror story. The first person I spoke to told me the devices that connect to 2.4g must be optimized to only work with 2.4g. Laughable! A brand new laptop & Sony Master Series TV, I don't think so! With my previous Netgear Nighthawk router I was easily able to assign each device to connect to the proper band. Smart bulbs, thermostats, security cameras etc go on the 2.4g band (some REQUIRE it & will only connect to 2.4g) & the things that gobble a lot of bandwidth like Smart TV's, phones, tablets, computers/laptops, gaming systems you always want on the 5g band. This is basic, simple, ground level wifi 101. For her to say what she said after I had already told her that all of these devices are brand new insulted my intelligence. She didn't even try to help, she just wanted to get through this call. I won't get into specifics but the rest of the conversation went downhill fast. She put me on hold 5 times for 10 minutes each time after every question I asked her so she could "research" the answer. And she came back with nothing each time. This person was NOT knowledgeable at all about this product! I debunked her BS answers one after the other. I am no tech wizard, but she sure made me feel like one after conversing with her. I had this product 90 minutes & I knew more about it than she did. She was from a call center overseas & was very difficult to understand. Not accepting her BS, I called back & got a nice gentleman that tried very hard to help, although he didn't seem all too knowledgeable about the product either. He tried to escalate my case. We both sat on hold for 20 mins waiting for the higher-up to answer, then he put me on hold, came back & said they would call me back in 40-60 minutes. That was 2 hours ago. I'm going to play with it some more, move the nodes around, try to get in with my laptop & manually configure (if possible, not sure yet??). But if there is no way to assist devices to the proper bands, it's probably going back. Have a thermometer on 5g while my laptop & TV is on 2.4g is wholly & completely unacceptable.

I brought it to extend my wifi. I liked the fact that it can be used as an extender or a router/extender. It was great when used as an extender but not so great when I bridged my modem router combo to use it as the main router. I could not get internet access. It probably works as a router if I had only a modem.

    ARRIS SURFboard mAX AX6600 Review – A Complete D

** The Garbage Details:** 1. Hardware Failure - One of the units died after just 4 months of normal use. No surges, no abuse—just cheap, unreliable hardware. - When one node fails, the other **can’t even be repurposed as an extender because of ARRIS’s idiotic software restrictions. 2. Forced Mobile App (That Doesn’t Work) - No traditional web UI—you must use their glitchy, 2-star-rated app just to configure basic settings. - The app fails to connect half the time, requiring constant reboots or reinstalls. - Forces you to accept invasive privacy terms just to proceed—no way around it. 3. No Offline Configuration - Want to set it up as a repeater without an internet connection? Too bad. The app **demands** you log in and phone home first. 4. Zero Customer Support - ARRIS **doesn’t care** if their hardware fails. No helpful troubleshooting, just a runaround. Final Verdict: A Scam in Mesh Clothing This is one of the worst Wi-Fi systems I’ve ever used. Between the forced app garbage, unreliable hardware, and privacy-invasive setup, there’s not a single redeeming quality. STAY AWAY IF YOU: - Want actual control over your network - Need reliable hardware - Value your privacy - Don’t enjoy rage-inducing tech failures Save your money—buy literally anything else (TP-Link, ASUS, Netgear, etc.). ARRIS should be ashamed of this overpriced e-waste!

Love the product other than the fact you have to buy 2 sets of two to have the max satellites (2) and one main =3. Oh well, needed a total of 3 for our house. Highly recommend if you only need 1 main and 1 satellite. Great deal too!!

Great mesh system. The setup was fairly easy. Did require a few tries to get it to lock on to my internet but not a big deal. Once locked it was really easy to add the satellite router. Highly recommend this system atm. I’ve worked with many arris products especially in my job and it always performs as expected.

Installation was pretty straight forward, but I did have a slight issue connecting to the satellite unit. Once everything was paired up and working everything has been great. The range of this network is way stronger than the included Frontier modem/ router combo. The signal now reaches all the way out to my street. I also receive faster speeds on this network vs the Frontier router. Another great perk is I was able to leave the Frontier router for the kids to use and this one for my wife and I. No more lags when the kids are playing games online and we are streaming a show in 4K. App is simple to use and intuitive. It shows you what is connected to the network at all times and you are able to create a guest connection as well. If you want to remove someone that is connected, you can do that as well. Great buy if you want to add a great router or a second network.

Disappointing Mesh System With Mediocre App

I purchased this mesh system after having the Google Nest wifi system for several years. I made the upgrade for 2 reasons: 1) I have over 40 devices connecting to my wifi network, 2) internet speeds with the Google Nest were poor despite being on a fiber network. Installation took some time but wasn't hard at all. The app guides you through all the steps. The app itself is a bit clunky and not very polished. I much prefer the simplified Google set up and interface. My internet speeds did improve immediately. Unfortunately, I have found that the speed drops periodically several times a day. I never had this problem with the Nest configuration and this issue started from day 1. I have run through all the tests on the app and haven't been able to figure out a solution. I plan to switch back to the Google Nest line in the near future.

Previously had the google/nest mesh system. Our house is horrible for signal. Even with 3 way points in addition to the router we couldn’t always get full signal, and would often cap out around 100mb/s of our 400mb/s plan and sometimes drop off completely. (I hear this is also an Apple product issue with google mesh) This unit gives us full strength across the house with just 2 Wi-Fi points. Even with hd streaming still getting close to max download speeds. Setup was easy but in my situation I kept running into a few issues but it resolved. Would highly recommend

It is fast. The challenge is the set up is miserable. There is no web server that you pull up (e.g. 192.168.0.1). You *have* to use their app which doesn't work well at all and has bare minimum functionality. I'm an IT guy and with my config, it took *several* hours to get it working. Then, I couldn't connect a three year old printer. There's no WPS button, no way to add a device. I called support...can't be added. I was just out of luck. I returned them. Given these were just $199 for AX6600....returning them shows you just how frustrating the lack of functionality/setup is.

I needed a copper GigE connection where I could not place a drop. The satellite has an RJ45 GigE port that delivers the full combined mesh bandwidth (multiple WiFi channels). It works perfectly and was self configuring. I can also get my full modem bandwidth (280MBs) to my laptop's WiFi ! I didn't even know that was possible. VERY PLEASED WITH MESH NETWORK

I was originally hesitant to buy this product. I have a large home with an in-house security system that require the modem to be in the basement. So I was concerned the 5500 ft coverage would not be enough. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Easy to connect. Up and running in seconds. Very stylish and fit in perfect with most modern homes. I might need one more satellite for the back part of the upstairs but would gladly buy it.
