Huge Open World with a Great Era and Story

I've played just about every AC game and this one has truly been a lot of fun. Sometimes series like these are recycled but the era, scenery, and characters make this a fresh experience. There are Spartans, mythological creatures, key historical figures, etc. From epic battles on land and sea, to decision-based consequences that have a major impact on the story-line, the game delivers on exciting action. The graphical enhancements are especially nice in 4K HDR...digital ancient Greece looks amazing. I spent more time than I expected to in Photo Mode. Sure, there are elements of repetition and there are some trivial quests, but the plot, sub-plot, and the experience overall is an enjoyable approach to the next version of the series.

I was never a fan of past AC games, but this one surprised me. The open world is beautiful, combat is very fluid and fun, quests are done very well, and the story is engaging. The rpg elements are great as well.

I love the Assassins Creed series and never had a problem with yearly releases and don't care about similarities between the new release and past titles as every entry is beautifully done and gives a window into the culture they are indulging themselves in. I had really wanted an ancient China scenario with some martial arts and was not very excited about a journey to Greece but after playing for 10 hours I will say easily this is graphically the most beautiful in the series and the story is very engaging. More combat focused than previous titles which is a nice change. The RPG element is also a nice addition and the franchise continues to grow and evolve.

AC Odyssey delivers fantastic gameplay, breathtaking graphics, intuitive climbing and a wonderful twist to incorporate a more RPG style campaign. I have played 5 other AC games in their entirety and this is a new style, but my favorite style. I love this game and I have never had an open world game like this one. I am a huge Greek history and mythology nerd as well and I find myself getting so excited over subtle details of the game. They even released an update that literally is a passive play through and your only goal is to tour famous places within Greece. Absolutely an amazing game! This title deserved Game of the Year for its vastness and attention to detail by the developers, although Spider-Man is also fantastic.

One of the Best Games in 2018

Even if you don’t fancy yourself a fan of Assassin’s Creed, this game is amazing! My favorite thing about it has to be how much it respects your time. If you’ve already just so happen to do a task or grabbed an item that ends up being a part of a side mission later on, the game recognizes that, and your character’s interaction with the quest giver will reflect that. The graphics are beautiful. The story is engaging and surprising at times. Your choices matter even when you don’t think they do. I loved the characters and how most of them had their own distinct personalities. You also don’t need to know about any previous games in the franchise to be able to get into and enjoy this game which makes it much more accessible to those new to the series. Just do yourself a favor and play this game!

AC Odyssey is the best addition to the AC franchise since Black Flag. Ubisoft seems to have taken all the good parts from Black Flag and Origins, improved them, left the bad parts out, and then added a fantastic story and world. I have been thoroughly disappointed with each AC game since Black Flag so it's refreshing to finally play a good one. I put 91 hours in this game and enjoyed every second of it. Story and setting are amazing. Graphics are fantastic. Game-play is smooth and satisfying. Voice actors, especially Kassandra's, do an excellent job. I highly recommend this game.

I'm wary about franchise games because there's a tendency for quality to go down but I had played the Ezio trilogy and enjoyed it very much so I figured I'd give this a chance. I didn't play the other games but I did some research and you don't really need to play the other ones to enjoy this. Visually great, solid story, and you can either fight assassination style or spartan style which is fun. I was annoyed by the load time which is its biggest drawback, You could use the restroom and fix yourself a sandwich and it' would still be loading. But if you can take it you'll enjoy the game very much. I'm actually thinking of getting the DLC too!

I was pleasantly surprised by how big this world is and the massive number of quests that you can choose to complete (or not!). I am 20 hours into the game and I am still roaming around the islands in awe and might have only completed about 10% of the story mode. Whenever you are heading to a story quest you will be distracted by a side quest nearby and I will always choose to do the side quests because they are fun. From helping a lone stranger to helping entire nations to fight battles, Odyssey has it all. There has been alot of fuss about the microtransactions in the game and I think they are coming from people who are not interested in the side quests and just want to move on with the story. Ubisoft created this massive world for us and to not engage in the side quests is really a waste of their efforts. I have no problem of leveling up using in-game xp as of now and have never visited the store to purchase any packs. if you want to get lost in a massive open world and climb on to the statue of Zeus, get this game! It's simply awesome.

As a casual gamer, i've really loved all the AC games that have come out. This was is no different. Its fantastic and beautiful and so much to do! I rarely can play a game where i want to sit and play it through to the end. But the AC games i certainly do. In fact I still play Origins even though i've beaten it. I still love the side missions, etc. While im barely into this, its a little different to get used to, Im loving it and will be playing this one through as well! Def a winner and must buy especially for the holidays!

It's a very fun game! You really don't need to have alot of knowledge of previous games to play Odyssey. Can watch a quick video if you want to get caught up on the AC lore. I loved the ancient greek aspect of the game. Game looks beautiful, lots of historic monuments and places to explore. I played as Kassandra. Combat is fun, I enjoyed the stealth. Your choices affect outcomes. There are some cool cosmetics and a very well put togeather main story. Some side quests are pretty funny. If you enjoy action adventure rpgs, then you will probably enjoy Odyssey.

    Assassin's Creed Goes to Greece

Another entry into the big franchise which is Assassin's Creed, this time we are transported to ancient Greece and for the first time on this game given the choice between a male or a female character to start with. It follows the same structure as previous entries with a huge open map to explore with tons of side missions and things to discover as well and plenty of main plot to get through. The one thing that holds it back its the slow grinding to reach higher levels and it doesn't help the fact that Ubisoft tries to sells you an XP boost via micro transactions.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is like Assassin's Creed Origins on steroids. Origins was amazing for creating a brand new play-style and world. I loved Origins and when I played it I called it my favorite game of all time. Now imagine everything about Origins in a new setting, plus a choice to play as a woman, plus you get to make your own decisions in dialogue, plus literally so many things I can't even explain. This game is immersive and literally gigantic. I've played for hours on hours and ive gotten to about 25-30 percent of the map. I can't recommend this game enough.

While the Witcher 3 comparisons may be extreme hyperbole, AC Odyssey is a fair successor to the title of open world RPG of the year, and easily the best AC in ages. Ancient Greece. Loot aplenty. Wanna be stealthy or go swords blazing? You have so much choice, so many opportunities, a HUGE game world, everything you could ask for in a modern open world adventure. Sure, I wish the story was stronger and the quests less repetitive. But ultimately this game is a rare breed-- a Ubisoft game that tries to improve on their formula. Even rarer? They succeeded.

I’m reviewing this game as some one who has not played any of the past AC. I usually am not a huge Story type person when it comes to video games but this game is okay not too long and they have so many different interactions for you to choose from. I am actually enjoying it quite well and the graphics aren’t too bad either. Easy to get hooked trying to get to the next level/location. I think it is a good game for some one who enjoys a back story and a lot of action plus personal response options.

Assassins creed odyssey was one of the best game I played in 2020. From the mechanics to the very interesting story I could not put the game down for a quite a while. By the time was ready to put it down though I was only at the midpoint, the game runs for entirely too long. It forces you to do filler side quests to level up and do main missions. I believe outside of that the game shines in its combat and world building.

One of my favorite games I’ve played this year. Great moment to moment gameplay, lots of stuff to unlock, a huge map, and a pretty good photo mode that pins the pics you and others take to their location on the map.

If you liked Origins you will (probably) like this game. It's just as fun as origins and retains the new combat system (aside from assassinations). The game is huge open world awesomeness in Greek lore. The thing I've liked about the assassin's creed games is the different time periods and the new Greek period is as cool as the Egyptian period in Origins. If you liked Origins pick this one up. There's so many hours of gameplay that it's completely worth the money to buy.

I purchased the Assassin's Creed Odyessey PS4 game for my husband and he hasn't put down the controller:) We have all the other Assassin's Creed games from the series and the graphics and story just seem to get better. It's a great game for people, like my husband, who enjoy puzzles, interesting graphics and scenery, history, and this is a fun addition to our collection of games.
