Without a doubt, this is Platinum Games' best creation to date. So good it's their only game to reach #1 on the sales charts. +You can choose one of several ways to play. There's an option to focus on story, for easy gameplay, for a challenge, or slam against a wall until you get good. And all of these options are available from the start. +In-depth combat. Nail a few basics and you can get through the game. Or unlock moves and travel down the rabbit hole of creating chains of attacks that look beautiful when done correctly. +You can see how good you really are by seeing mission rankings. (only on the two hardest difficulties) +Costumes and colors to unlock by playing the game, exploring, or doing menu work. You're rewarded for trying all the things available to you. +Fantastic music. +Portable. I can't stress this enough. You can play this on the go. There really is only one bad thing I can say about this game. -You can and will be juggled by enemies if you're not careful. Especially when facing groups of enemies. This is even worse when you become stunned. Would I recommend this? With all the gusto I can muster. Nintendo gave Platinum Games a home when everyone else turned them away. And they are showing how just grateful they are. This game is sitting at a solid 8 and 9 across the board for a reason.

I went into this game blind/not having watched any trailers/gameplay. So I was expecting Bayonetta or DMC like gameplay. Which is kinda accurate. Starting with the negative, the game doesn't run at 60fps which is a real bummer for a action game like this, the framerate isn't always stable either. But beyond that you have a game with 3 difficulty levels but it expect you to play on Platninum which is the game's normal mode. It's where you'll unlock more things, be ranked and have an actual fair challenge. The game is not like Platinum's other outings, the combat starts out very, basic. You get a 3 hit combo + a optional weapon but as you play it greatly opens up and your hands will be all over your controller. Buttons for, summoning & holding to move your legion, button to change legion, button to summon/call legion for a team action, an attack button, change weapon button, roll etc. Tie enemies up with your legion's chain, have your legion pull you to it- either to close gaps or strike enemies as you fly by. You can ride on one legion, use another to shoot arrows at distant targets, perform team combos. The other negative that I can think of is, there IS a co-op mode but it's VERY odd. You are forced to use split joycons, so each player gets one joycon and the game's functions are literally split between you two. Player one can attack, change weapons, roll, call the legion over for a team-attack and player 2...controls the camera, has to hold a button to move, only attacks when they're not moving, can pull the protagonist to it and ...yeah it's confusing. Overall, it's a great game and has a lot more to offer than you might think. It's not just an action game it genuinely tries to build the world and I think it's a grand time.

A great original IP. The story and characters are very interesting, full voice acting, and lots of new gameplay mechanics - this is definitely worth a purchase even at full price. Graphically it's very good looking - sharp anime style with texture, lighting, effects. The x-ray vision gives the game a whole new look as well. This is certainly a high production value game - up there with other Nintento first party efforts.

This game is a 10/10. You're a cop in Tokyo and you have a robot/ghost thing that's on a chain that attacks monsters for you. You are also armed with a couple swords and some guns. With tons of different things you have to do in order to progress and lots of ways to upgrade your character along with an incredible story line makes this game a must have for any switch owner or action game fan.

Astral Chain is a must have. If you are on the fence to buy this game, jump on down to the purchase the game side, it's well worth it! After playing initially for the first 20 min or so I don't regret buying this master piece from Platnium Games. Great music, great cinematics, and the gameplay is fluid and clunky in some aspects, but honestly you barely notice.

When it comes down to it, Platinum are masters of their craft, and their craft is the action game genre. Just like their previous titles, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2, and Nier Automata, Astral Chain delivers an action packed action game with incredible visuals, soundtrack and gameplay. Quite possibly, in my opinion, the best action game to date on the Nintendo Switch.

PlatinumGames does it again. Their games are so fun to play. This game is difficult but it’s so satisfying when you slowly start to master it. The electronic music is really catchy and the game has a good sense of humor. The Legion mechanics are very fun and help you pull off creative combos that bring variety to the gameplay so it doesn’t get boring.

Such an amazing game. Platinum games has done it again and does not disappoint in the non stop action department. This game starts right off with action and grabs you right away. Everything is very over the top and the game play is so much fun. I would recommend this game to any fans of Platinum or action. A must but.

Another great action game by Platinum. Really love the combat and the story isn't half bad. I have really enjoyed the scenery in the game as well. Seeing how this game can only be played on the switch. I say it is a must-have for anyone who loves action games and even more so if you love game created by Platinum.

    Fun Adventure Game

Astral Chain was a slick & fun adventure game, when it was an action game. That is, there was a lot of filler between action content. From a Narrative perspective, it makes sense. You play as a cop - so about half of the game is you investigating crime scenes and solving puzzles. That’s fine I guess, but it was never all that entertaining. To be fair, i never found myself bored out of my mind either. It just felt like filler for a game that was far shorter in concept and length otherwise. Beautiful graphics, fun action, kept me entertained... didn’t live up to the hype for me though. (Hype was insane)

I was sold on this game the moment I first saw the reveal trailer. After playing it I can safely say that this game lives up to that high expectation I had going in. Excellent music, great graphics, unique gameplay mechanics, good story, awesome world design, and deep combat. Definitely give this game a try, it's really that good of a game.

Astral Chain is Platinum Games at its best. The action is fantastic. It has a terrific challenge if you are into that or you can play in a casual mode just for the story and some lite challenging gameplay. It is one of the best looking Switch games to date. If you are a fan of fast action and in-depth storytelling this is the game for you.

A excellent new game from developers Platinum Games full of action-packed gameplay, various fighting styles, intense fights, and immersive story. All this comes together with graphics and art style that take advantage of the Switch's capabilities. Has lots of content to keep you busy; well worth the price!

Astral chain doesn’t seem to get the recognition it deserves. It is definitely one of the best games on the switch and I had as much fun with this game as other acclaimed games on the switch like Luigi’s mansion 3 and xenoblade chronicles. The combat, music, and art direction are all phenomenal.

If you've ever played a Platinum Games title, then you already know what to expect from Astral Chain: intense action, and amazing set pieces, all wrapped in a highly stylized (usually anime inspired) package. I was worried about how this game would turn out performance wise, given the Switch's less powerful hardware, and while there are some hitches here and there, Astral Chain does well. This is a unique title for sure with interesting combat and gameplay mechanics that are really fun to experience, and in my opinion, another stellar Switch exclusive experience. A must own.
