They are very comfortable on the ears compared to other headsets. The sound is superb and the other features are awesome. I tried other headsets and this A40 combo headset is the best.

I had a pair of Astro A40's before I purchased these and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them I have a 4000$ PC gaming rig an Xbox One and a PS4 and before I had all these cables hanging to switch the audio back and forth between my devices. With this it was a simple Optical Audio splitter and I had the sound for all my devices just by turning them on no cable switching necessary which was awesome. However the audio quality was far worse coming through the mixamp from my PC via USB cable than it was with just my a40's in the headphone jack coming from my dedicated soundcard inside. While most people wont run into this issue it was a deal breaker for me because the PC is my main device and the consoles are only for exclusive titles so I don't switch the cables very often. Other than that slight drawback the product operated flawlessly which is why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 my soundcard was 200$ give or take and this is 250$ with lower quality audio just not worth it for me. but would recommend to anyone looking to hook multiple systems together with minimal cable clutter.

They really are as good as you'd hope. Insanely comfortable, nice and loud, clear (although a bit bass heavy from the factory) and the option of running either closed or semi-open configurations is really nice.
Honestly the sound quality is amazing, but my favorite part of the headset is just how comfortable they are. I can wear them for hours on end with no discomfort whatsoever, even while wearing glasses. They are worth the money.

I've never purchased a high-end gaming headset before so I did a lot of research including listening to headphones without mics so I could compare. The in-store setup was horrible in that it didn't provide high quality music examples however, with Best Buy's 15 day return policy for full refund I felt confident to make the purchase and bring them home. At first, they sounded like speakers in a shoe box and I was beside myself, boxed them up and was ready to return. Then, I spoke to my Super Nerd friend and he started asking me questions like, what was your PC volume at? 15% (Okay, turn the Astro amp volume down (big knob) and crank Windows volume to 100%). Bingo!! Beautiful audio quality messaged my ears!!
He did some more nerd speak and I glazed over a little but, the take away was that Microsoft removes bits when they turn the volume down so if you amplify bad bits, you get speaker in a box sound!
He then had me hook up the included optical cable and the sound was even better! Finally, using the Astro's small volume controller, it allowed me to decrease music while increase Discord so I could have a blend of both worlds without muting my audio to hear people in-game.* Note: In Discord, make sure to choose the correct playback and microphone selections. End-result, these are two top of the line pieces of equipment, not a plug in the USB and go. Take the time and if you don't have a nerd, call Astro's support to have them help you!

This headset is absolutely amazing!! Even tho it's a pretty pricey headset it just does the job. The sound quality is great, you can really pick up on other peoples movement in call of duty. The headset I bought is for ps4 and Pc it also works for my xbox one but without the mixamp. I am so happy with this headset I see nothing wrong with this headset. It's a must buy

I was initially cautious about spending this amount of money for a headset, but it was worth it. They separate volume controls for line in, voice and game is awesome. I have watched a few shows on Amazon prime and was pleased. Subtle sounds I missed with the surround sound was clear, but not overbearing. The only negative is with ventilation, my head and ears get quite warm. I dont think there would be a way to design a 'breatheable' headpiece without sacrifcing sound. Final verdict 9.5/10

Got this headset when I found out it was on sale for Black Friday. Thank God I didn't pay the full $249.99 price tag on this headset. This headset is nearly perfect with the minor issue of the microphone at first. Astro is known to have mic problems, but luckily my microphone is fine. That's really the only issue Astro needs to work on. The mixamp and headset is strong and durable and as long as you take care of your headset, this headset will last you a long time unlike Turtle Beaches. One thing to take note is to make sure you update your firmware on your mixamp to get the best settings.

Had these for a week and ended up returning them.
Pro's
- Hands down the most comfortable headset I have ever worn.
- Nice warm bass
- The Amp + pro nice feature for if you want to turn down your friends volume when they are talking and listen to more what's happening in game.
Con's
- The microphone only would work when it wants to.
- The Mix+ amp volume worked great at first. then last couple of days I had it, It didn't seem to go as loud.
- Mids and High are terrible..
Comments
Pro -Like I said Hands down these are the most comfortable headphones you will ever wear. I put them on and experienced the WOW factor in comfort, even with glasses on.
Pro- The Mixamp +pro has some nice features. You have two knobs, one for volume and one for game and voice If you want to hear more what's happening in game and less voice chat from your friends, turn the knob more to game side. The voice chatter will lower and you hear more of the effects of the game. Big plus in my book
Con -The microphone would stop working, Then would work ext..... Tried unplugging and then plugging everything back in, checking to make sure they where plugged in all the way. Tried different USB ports, Still wouldn't work. Tried synching the software. Nope,. still would not work. Then after awhile, out of nowhere, The mic would start to work again (TS and CS). Very frustrating.
The sound quality
Con -While the bass had a nice warm sound, The mid's and the highs sounded terrible. Mid's sounded muffled, Highs not crisp at all ( almost none existent). No matter how much I played with the EQ and the software, I could not get these to produce a descent sound.
Conclusion
I gave this two stars, One for comfort and one for bass. For the asking price of these (249.99) IMHO it is not worth it .If you are into a bass sounding headphone, you may like these. If you are like me and prefer a more neutral sound, I would suggest getting a good sound card and a good pair of headphones. Then adjust the sound to your listening flavor. Motherboard sound has come a long way in my 10yrs of gaming and looks great on paper, But still will not produce a good sound quality like a dedicated soundcard will.
I ended up with a Creative ZX soundcard and Sennheiser G4ME ONE headphones. Much better (not perfect) sound for around the same price. The G4ME ONES headphone have better Mid's and High's and a nice warm bass ( not punchy) and Yes, The soundcard did make a difference. As you can tell I mainly game on PC and did not try the Astro's on a console
Using Window's 7 64bit

Amazing sound, comfortable for long use, and easily adjustable for various size heads. Adjustments are not sloppy, so once you find "your size" it does not move around. The mix amp is a great addition to the headset. Having the ability to adjust the game and/or voice volume, as well as different EQ levels is a game changer.

Having owned Astro headsets in the past, I knew the superior sound and build that Astro provides. However, when I received the new A40 TR I was totally blown away. Taking a already A+ design and improving it from top to bottom was an unbelievable surprise. Everything from the sound to the addition of the optional Mod Kits, Astro has taken a major step forward while everyone else is again playing catch up. If your in the market for the best gaming headsets out there, look no further noobs.

These are far the best headsets I ever bought. I was happy to invest on this product. Yes....it can be a bit pricey, but I do not regret purchasing. I was tired of buying cheap headset that end up giving me a headache from hours of gaming. Best thing about these it works with all console's old gen and new Gen. So.....If you're in the market for a new headset believe me you won't regret it.

I have owned multiple gaming headsets like turtle beach, or steel series and none of them sound as good and clear as these astro a40’s. Big fan of COD and these get the job done and are comfortable. A little pricey but you get what you pay for

Ive always used Turtle Beach products, mainly for their price points. I've had the Recons, PX24's (which were my favorite up until these Astro A40 TR's), Stealth 520's and finally the Astro A40 TR's. The sound quality and overall volume of these headphones blew me away. Ive read reviews about the inline mute cable going bad or arriving with issues, but I havent had that issue. I play FPS games and these are by far the best headset I've ever used. They are very comfortable and the earcups are very breathable. Out of the box the audio was great, even better once I got the chance to connect to my PC and create some custom profiles and tweak settings. Everyone in my parties have said that the mic is very clear and controlled. The options on the mix amp are great and I can always balance game vs. party audio without any hassle. I would highly recommend these if youre looking for a premium headset, just make sure you get the two year warranty with them in case you have issues with the cable... its about $60 for a replacement.
