This headset is fantastic for Xbox One and great for PC as well. The mix track pro lets you plug your phone into it via aux cord so you can listen to music on your phone through the headset while you play.

I am very happy with this headset. The sound quality is excellent and the volume is plenty loud enough for me. The microphone works perfectly and can be detached completely when not in use or just moved up out of the way. It is a little expensive to be sure but if you want a good quality headset with 5.1 surround you cannot go wrong selecting this headset. You do need to update the headset when you first get it to make sure you have the latest firmware. I chose this one over the wireless headset mainly because of the cost. I was a little concerned about cord length but it is plenty long enough. There is a long cord that connects the amp to the xbox and then a shorter cord from the amp to the headset. Both work fine for me. The volume control allows you to increase/decrease the chat/game sounds, adjusting the level from one to the other without increasing/decreasing overall volume. This is done via a large dial that you just move from game to chat. The middle setting is a perfect balance but I have found that I tend to move it more toward the chat setting when in a party, just for extra clarity. There are two buttons on the amp. One is to switch between 4 different presets and the other is to toggle Dolby on/off.

I purchased one for myself about two years ago, still works great with no problem. Friend of mine took a look at them and really liked them. This second pair is a gift to him for his BD. He’s been having it for 5 months and he is enjoying them. No problem with the headset what’s no ever. Pros -Comfortable level is great. I sometimes play 3-4 hour sessions with no problem. -Head cushions don’t make my ears hot like other headsets do. Major plus -Audio quality is awesome mostly play shooters and have no problem pin pointing directions of the shots. -Setup is quick and simple even if you don’t follow the directions it’s pretty straight forward. -You can customize your audio settings by plugging in your hub to your computer and downloading the Astro app to customize your levels for a more personalized experience. I have done this for when I play online shooters compared to when I play adventure games. -If you are using this to play a good amount of distant from the screen it’s great long wires and will have no problem moving the Hub. Cons. (Most are just preference of mine and not really a big issue on the product) -Wires that comes with the device I feel are extremely long. Should have came with maybe a second wire with half the length. As a gamer most of us have our setup and play a few feet from the screen or setup. -Only comes in one color, wished they really had more color options. Also maybe released a few limited edition such as a halo, battlefield, COD, something different besides this just one color. -Noise level coming out the head set is pretty load if you have the volume 60% up. People around you can pretty much hear all the chatter. You can purchase a Mod kit that helps with this. -Mod kit most store that has this headset for sale don’t have the mod kit. It was a pain to try and get one myself at the time of purchase. Overall the quality of the headset is great. If you don’t mind having the wires compared to the wireless version than it’s really awesome product. With a wire Product no need to worry about battery levels so that’s a good thing.

I had the Astro A50s and they broke after a few months. I went with these cuz they were 100 bucks cheaper and honestly thought they looked cooler. Thought i'd give them a shot. They are a lot more comfortable than the 2015 A50s. They fight more snugly. The interchangeable parts are cool too, its nice to know that if one thing goes I don't need a whole new headset. The mix amp is pretty cool too. Its easy to adjust the volume and the audio/voice balance. They look like the will work with any headphones. Overall I really like these. They feel well built and I can wear them all day without any issues. Some people might be turned off by the higher price but if you game a lot this is a worthwhile investment.

They are the best , if you can go wired then these are for you . I have owned the Astro a50 the turtle beach elites , and nothing compares to these headsets . Most comfortable headsets out there . I get ear infections a lot when I used other headsets but with these I stop getting them as often . Great surround sound too .

Absolutely the best gaming wired head set I have ever used. Sound quality, bass, treble, customization is awesome! The only flaw is that the power chord that runs from your Xbox to the Mixamp is one just like for Android. The issue I have is it doesn't fit very snug and when I move the Mixamp it often times gets pulled out.

I recently picked up the TRs after my regular A40s cord was going bad. I have to say I am in love. No cords to the controller and easy to set up. Also, programmable although I haven't gone through the process of doing that yet. Overall sound quality is excellent and the comfort is the usual Astro comfort.

Try and snag on sale or price match amazon. They are pretty awesome headphones for any price, and the best possible in my opinion for the Xbox One. For PC you can definitely do better, but for console gaming, A40s are king. Like them way more than the A50s as well.

The A40 headset is off the charts in my opinion when it comes to comfort, sound, and even looks! They are light enough for hours of uninterrupted gameplay but heavy duty to give you that great sound you have been looking for. If you consider yourself a real gamer, these are a must have

I've owned a few different headsets for gaming and my favorite has been the Astro A50. I currently have this pair so I can capture voice chat without some ridiculous setup and it works wonderfully. The sound quality isn't quite as good as the A50, but it's up there. So many customizable options and ways to give these a personality that matches your play style. Love them.

This is a great headset. The sound is amazing. I can hear sounds I haven't heard in games I have played for hours. They are very comfortable as well. I bought longer cable and ran them in my craw space and brought them up my couch. I have no wires on the floor. I love them.

These work wonderfully. No issues, great sound, and comfy as well. Great for long gaming stretches. They do have a long cable you have to use to run to the mix amp pro, then another to the headphones, but this isn't an issue to me. All around, great headphones

Let me start off by saying that I have owned Astros in the past, including the 2013, and 2015 editions. Astros are known to be the Ferrari of headsets, from their lightweight, well crafted construction, all the way to the SRS audio. The only reason I gave this headset 4*, was because of the price. To drop $250 on a headset is not the first thing that comes to everyones mind when researching headsets. But as the only saying goes you get what you pay for, and yes you do. astro a40s sound great! these are not cheaply built at all, everything in the box is well crafted, nothing feels cheap. My favorite part of this headset is that everything Is now digital, you can actually customize the sound of each EQ to even more specific tuning. Also if your on Xbox one which is what this headset is for you no longer need a chat cord from the mix amp to the controller, its all digital and the xbox recognizes the headset and the mic works (NOTE: make sure your xbox is turned on before you turn on the headset, it seems as if the xbox doesn't "assign" the headset properly for the mic to work if you turn on the mixamp before powering on the xbox.) I recommend this headset to anyone willing to drop $250 for a premium headset.

Best gaming headset I've ever tried! The Mixamp Pro is a must for any serious gamer. The surround sound effect definitely sounds like the sounds are surrounding you. The headphone quality is crisp and natural, so combined with the Mixamp Pro, you get such an open, realistic sound. Sometimes they fake me out, making me think there was noise in my house when I'm alone. Or when I fire up the Xbox at night, I keep double-checking that the soundbar is muted, because the sound in these headphones really does feel like it's coming from your environment, and not headphones. They're pretty comfortable, and I like the soft fabric on the ear pads, as opposed to the smooth, non-breathable fake leather material many companies use. The padding is a little stiff, though, but it isn't a problem because the headphones aren't tight or putting pressure on my ears. I can go hours without taking these things off! The only downside is the mic quality. That microphone is a little finicky, and sometimes cuts out. If you have a fan blowing towards you, the mic will pick up the wind noise. But the issues with the mic are not bad enough to ruin the experience. When it works (which is most of the time), it works great! Durability is also insane. Light, but VERY sturdy. Metal parts in the construction are awesome, and the plastic is flexible enough to not weaken with lots of use. I've had TBs snap on me more than once, but these Astros are showing no signs of wear! Just make sure you plug in both USB and optical cable for the best experience. I also wish the Mixamp Pro had an auxiliary optical input so I can hook up my smart TV directly to them without having to swap cables every time I want to use Netflix/Disney+/Hulu/etc. without running my Xbox. Still, only a minor downside; I got these for gaming, so movie watching was just a secondary.

This headset is amazing. So many options to it and the sound is great. If you have the money and are thinking about it for a shooter like cod, its a prime asset. Lets you hear every little footstep and reload. Thought the price is high, so is the quality.

The best and most comfortable headset I’ve ever owned. You can play for hours in total comfort. Much better than the lesser priced brands and now I know why. If you’re a serious gamer then don’t ruin your fun with a cheap-o headset.

These headsets have been such a game changer. Everything sounds so great much better than any other headset I have used, from turtle beach elite to hyper X. Pros: Great sound Comfortable Customizable Different volume presets Cons: Not a big fan of white after a year of use it has stained marks. I have had friends say my voice is different using the microphone on the headset. Which I have heard that Astros microphones are very good but otherwise they hear me loud and clear.

I;ve owned 5 Astro A40 headsets as well as 3 Astro A50s. This is without a doubt the best Astro A40 headset yet. The best part is that with the new MixAmp Pro, you only need one cable for surround sound connecting the headset to the MixAmp. With previous iterations you needed one cable from headset to MixAmp Pro, then another from the MixAmp to the controller.

The Astro A40trs are phenomenal. They’re real comfortable but if you’ve never used over the ear headphones you will have to get use to them. The first day or so of using them your ears will get soar after a few hours if you’re not use to this type of headset. The sound quality is just what you’d expect from Astro. Set up is easy, and the mix amp adds even more customization. Allowing you to adjust the over all volume and game to chat ratio at a hands reach. Also with the a40s you’re able to buy a mod kit for 50-60$ allowing even more performance! In my opinion these are the best wired gaming headset on the market for a reasonable sale price of 200$ Now there is one shocking downside to this headset. After a weeks use I noticed that on the outside of the ear cuff (the part that’s shaped like a u and connects the headset to the ear cuff) the paint had already started to chip. Which is a minor issue but if u have ocd like me it will bug you. So I reccomend just setting them down on a micro fiber towel. I am very gentle with them so I have no idea how they already started to chip. I can return them but I have to return everything and I have the mix amp and wires all where I want them tied and taped down. So it’s just not worth it for me. Hope this review helps you with your purchase.
