Wanted to upgrade from my Turtle Beach. More than one of my gaming friends recommended ASTRO. Spent some time and tried some demo's and the Astro A40 TR, we're the winners. So comfortable and changeable ear cushions should they get dirty and need replacing. And the sound is fantastic!

The sound quality is great but you can only use this headset for the Xbox One which is probably common sense according to this box but the mix amp pro should be able to hook up to both Ps4 and Xbox one sense they require the same cords also the Microphone quality isn't the best so if you are going to be using this as a PC Headset I would recommend getting an external microphone.

As far as the headset itself goes, it's extrwmely comfortable, overall good sound, ideal highs, mids, and bass. Only issue is one of my own making, since they are open back. I can hear background conversations quite well, which can be distracting at times. However, that can be taken as a bonus if you don't like or want to have all background sound blocked out, like you would get with a closed back. As far as the amp goes, it is wonderful, definitely can tell a difference in sound with and without it. Having the ability to change the eq depending on the type of game I'm playing is extremely nice to have. Also, the option for virtual 7.1 surround is wonderful, it isn't super echoey like a lot of virtual surround makes it sound

I’ve tried Turtle Beach, Skullcandy, Hyper X and now Astro. I held out on Astro because of the price. I now realize I should have gone with these long ago. They are crystal clear and having the mix amp allows for custom balance between voice/game. I also love the custom speaker tags you can buy for these. They are comphy, attractive and overall amazing. I recommend these highly and if you are looking for a deal, I recommend picking some up during Black Friday when they are 20% off nearly every year.

I love my new Astro A40's. I have always used Turtle Beach and went out on a limb to buy these. The sound is great (it took a little bit of time to get the sound just right but after working with it for a little while they are PERFECT). The price was also Great.

I absolutely love this headset. I owned the wireless before this pair but hated having the charge them. So I gave these a try and can't Game with out them. Easy set up as use and well worth the money. I just wish they were a different color.

The sound quality of this headset is astounding. First Astro purchase after years of Turtle Beach purchases. The headset quality is awesome, and definitely is worth the price. The mix amp is a great tool to balance the game and chat audio.

This headset is amazing. I love that I do not have to have a wire attached to my controller. The sound is amazing and this is a great upgrade from my 7.1 turtle beach headset. Also it is super comfortable and has the ability to upgrade in the future.

I used to own the wireless A50 Astro headset but after about a year they crapped out on me and I got these. I personally use them for PC gaming and they are comfortable for long gaming sessions, the sound quality is amazing which is what you'd expect from Astro so no complaints there. The main problem I had was finding the best sound settings between chat and game noise. Because even with the amp sometimes one will will be be much louder than the other and Astro offers no advice on how to set them whatsoever. They do require some tinkering to get what you want. So I recommend Youtube. But if you do find your ideal settings like I did you will love these as well.

While there is a very slight difference in quality almost unnoticeable the a40 has higher sound quality than the a50 however you have to the mixup plugged into the xbox which has 2 wires and than another wire for the headset plugged into the mix amp. 3 wires total and you need the actual mix amp close to you to change settings or volume. I ended up going with the a50s just for convenience of the wireless. If surround sound is not important than there is no need for the mixamp and just go with the one that plugged into controller for best value. Much better than turtle beach elite pro in my opinion the elite pro is comfortable for about 30 min and than gets hot while the Astros can go for hours.

Ok let me say this, I gave this company a chance when this headset was on sale for 185 took it home set it up, put the headset on and wow the most comfortable headset I've ever worn. You can play for hours without discomfort. So I'm playing online and ...guess what? You can't chat on the xbox it doesn't work. So I return it for another and guess what the chat doesn't work !! After speaking with email only customer service witch is completely unprofessional , and sending my headset in and waiting 3 weeks I can finally chat on my Xbox. I really gave this company a chance just because of how comfortable they are and the surround sound is awesome. So that's why the low rating thanks to customer service and bad quality control.

They are great for gaming and chatting but i do feel the price is a little high so i gave 4 stars for over priced and heavy also to add the cord cause a problem would have gone cordless

This Astro A40TR headset is excellent. Hooking it up to my Xbox One X was so easy. The Xbox recognized the headset with no problems. I really like the voice and game chat being separated so I am able to increase/decrease the volume of my choice to get the perfect balance. I wear glasses and the Astro A40TR headset is so comfortable to wear for hours without any discomfort. In my opinion this headset is well worth the money. I play games from COD WWII, PUBG, 7 Days to die, GTA IV and Fallout 4.

Headset has great audio. Very comfortable to wear especially when gaming for long hrs. You adjust audio and surround setting to your preference. Choose to hear more game volume or chat volume. Sure there's cables involved. Connecting headset cable to amp box, power cable and optical cable connect from amp box to console. No wires connecting to controller which is a plus. Best of all. No battery charge required. So you can Play without concern of a battery low noise going off in your ear.

A great headset for any gamer. Highly recommend this product especially if you want no wires going to your controller. The mixamp gives total control over game and chat volumes.

If you can deal with the wires, this headset is the BEST headset I've ever used! Headphones - They're big, but sit light over your ears. I have gauged ear piercings, and the cups still cover my entire ear. Comfortable for hours of play at a time. Sound - The audio on these are so crisp and dynamic, for the first couple of months owning them, I kept taking them off mid-game because it sounded like my stereo was still on. The really open sound they provide feels like you're really in the game; no claustrophobic, head-hugging, muffled feeling from this set. Mixamp Pro - This is the main reason to spend the money on this product. The optical input provides a crisp, accurate surround sound experience that lets you hear every detail in perfect orientation. There are various profiles you can use, or plug the Mixamp Pro into your PC to load custom EQ settings. I stick with a stock bass-boosted gaming profile, which has thick enough bass to feel explosions, but it won't muddy up your crucial highs, like enemy footsteps or reloading. Boom Mic - seems a little sensitive to wind noise, so if you breathe heavy or have a fan or a/c blowing towards you, you might want to get a wind screen. The wind screen from the Xbox-included Microsoft mono earpiece actually just barely fits, so I use that. Other than that, never had complaints in party or game chat about my voivce quality.

This headset was a Christmas gift for our son. He love, love, loves them! He says they are the most comfortable headset he has ever used. He loves the professional look and was the most excited for this present above all others.

Astro has a great reviews for these headphones and accompanying MixAmp Pro. The overall build quality is excellent. Very comfortable and performs well. My only problem was the first unit I purchased stopped working the same evening. I exchanged the next day and haven't had s problem since. Astro sent me another USB cable no charge when I contacted them. This has been a common complaint. I'm glad I purchased these though and have no regrets other than the price but that's where the market is.

This headset sounds great! Sometimes.... the new TR series appears to have a bug in the mix amp that creates anew echoing effect. If you play around with the mix amp long enough you can temporarily fix it. Then these are great. I believe astro will fix the problem with a firmware update so I'm not worried.
