I’m very happy with the laptop: easy to set up, nice keyboard, extremely light weight, altogether just what I wanted in a portable computer. I have had nothing but trouble with the Asus website, first trying to register the device (according to Asus, it’s not a laptop or a computer, it’s an Eeebook) and I have not yet, after numerous tries to navigate the Asus website, been able to call up any of the promised manuals, drivers, firmware, software, look at FAQs, or How-To guides. The device has three different model numbers, none of which work on the website. Five stars for the laptop, no stars for the Asus website.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this computer a few weeks ago and it suits me just fine. I had a large ASUS with a touch screen (which I didn't need) and an I7 which was a semi gaming computer but I didn't play games and didn't really need the power. Plus that computer was very large and heavy. The hinge failed on it. Asus wanted 510 dollars to fix it. So, I heard about these x205ta computers and ordered one from Best Buy for 150 bucks. This computer is very similar to my Acer Chromebook because they both are the same size and both have SSDs. The difference is this computer is a Windows computer. Chromebooks cannot use programs like VLC or other windows programs but this computer can. I immediately got a message from Microsoft I could upgrade to windows 10 and I did it. That did take all night to do. In order to upgrade, I put a 64GB micro SD in the slot during the phase when the computer complained it didn't have enough disk space to do the upgrade. It was a bit annoying doing the upgrade because it was gruelingly slow (I was afraid it stopped or failed) but I went to bed and when I got up in the morning it was done and there was a leftover temp file on the micro sd card. I did the disk cleanup and deleted the old operating system and voila, I have a Windows 10 version of this now. It is a very nice computer. Its 2.2 lbs and easy to carry or use in your lap. I used it on IMVU and it worked which is amazing because that is a 3D game and this had enough power for it. I have not loaded Corel Paintshop on this computer and really have not loaded a lot on it. It is evidently Microsofts answer to the Chromebook but its better in the sense that it can run windows programs and acts just like any windows computer. It has a micro SD and does not have a regular SD slot. It has two USBs. I use one of them for a wireless mouse but the touch pad works fine. The screen is nice. I am using this for my home computer and don't seem to need anything more than this. I also got Office 365 free for a year but haven't used it much. The browser that comes with this is Edge and it is really nice. Even the media players it comes with are way improved. Still I downloaded Chrome and Maxthon and VLC and they all work fine. I also installed software for my Sony voice recorder. I have a 64Gig micro SD in this for storage but you could double that if you wanted. I have also used it with a 2TB drive hooked to the USB and it worked fine. Its not as fast as my old I7 but just about as good. Definitely good enough. I would not hesitate to buy it. I think it will be fine for most people. OH, also, the startup on it is amazingly fast. Its like instant on unless you shut it down which I do. Even booting up is faster than most computers. Faster than windows 7. It does not have a fan and does not get hot. I highly recommend this computer.
