Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the Asus laptop's keyboard for its superior performance compared to other brands. The laptop's weight and sleek design are also highly praised, with many users commenting on its portability. Additionally, the laptop's speed and sharp screen are seen as major pros, while some users have concerns about the top-heaviness of the device when the tablet is attached to the keyboard.

Very Nice for the Clearance Price

I bought this out of box for $371, before tax and GeekSquad protection, and for that price I am very pleased. The Good: The Core M Processor is fanless, noiseless, and yet pretty capable for handling basic tasks (probably less powerful than an i5 but more powerful than an i3). Basically, with a 5y10 Core M processor and 4gb of RAM, you are getting about the same processor as you would get with the lowest Asus Zenbook UX305, which is not a convertible but costs a good bit more than the clearance price for the T300 Chi. My Synaptics Dell Active Stylus works pretty well with the T300 Chi for note taking. The FHD screen is nice. In my opinion, the FHD lower resolution screen is to be preferred on the Chi over the WQHD screen that you see in most reviews, because the WQHD screen is a battery hog. The FHD screen may have fewer pixels per inch, but it is still very nice and the battery can last longer. Also, the screen is nice and bright, much brighter than the three other Asus tablets I have owned. While the aspect ratio is awkwardly wide, it makes the T300 Chis great for watching HD videos, most of which fit perfectly into the screen while in landscape mode. Also, the wider screen seems to make the laptop feel more like a full sized laptop than I would have expected with a 12.5 inch screen, and less like a cramped tablet with a cramped tablet keyboard. The keyboard is roomier than many detachable tablet keyboards. I really like the clamshell keyboard, and much prefer it to the Surface style type cover. The T300 Chi is very, very nice looking. In a meeting or coffee shop surrounded by Macbooks and shiny HPs, the T300 Chi holds its own. It is light and very easy to carry around. I love that it fits in my little zippered leather portfolio perfectly. A lot of techie reviews will say the T300 Chi in laptop mode is "heavy" because it tops three pounds, while many ultrabooks come in below three pounds, but I think this is silly. 3.1 pounds is light compared to the old 6 pound laptops I used to carry around. Also, once detached the tablet itself is very light for the size--lighter, for example, than the HP spectre x2 12. Cons: Windows 10 is a little glitchy on this particular laptop, and I would like to look into getting a fresh install of the whole OS. I suspect that is why this (out of box) T300 Chi was returned in the first place, so I don't think this is a universal problem. No rear facing camera. On the whole having a Bluetooth keyboard is not too bad, but the big downside is that it takes forever to connect sometimes. Also, sometimes the smart gestures decide not to work for a few minutes, which is annoying and makes me miss the old corners of Windows 8.1. The aspect ratio is awkwardly long. As a result, the tablet is much less usable for reading e-books and taking hand written notes than I had hoped. The speakers are also pretty weak. I have read that Asus is giving the T300 Chi a makeover and releasing a second gen model soon. It sounds like the new one will have a pogo connected keyboard with an additional battery to extend the battery life. That sounds fantastic. However, when that T300 Chi finally hits the shelf, it will probably be retailing for more than double the price that I paid for my out of box T300 Chi. Some similar Core M detachable tablet hybrids to consider: Surface Pro 4 (much more expensive; no clamshell keyboard option) Spectre x2 12 (similar to SP 4 but less expensive). Pavillion x2 12 (the Core M model here looks to be a good budget option and has a better pen than the T300 Chi; I really like the looks of the B&O speakers, if they work as well as promised) Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 (better tablet at 10.8 inches with a nice rear facing camera, but very small for a laptop; can be found cheap on e-bay). Acer Aspire Switch 11v (a small bettery makes this one unattractive, but it makes the list).

    Solid Computer and Tablet

Great tablet and computer. It has a solid Core M processor, 8GB ram, a decent hard drive and a wonderful screen. At nearly 13 inches wide, the screen look nice and big. It has a resolution of 1920x1080, so things can look small, but the quality is fantastic. It's a bit heavy when attached to the keyboard, but incredibly light when off of it. I love that it runs the full version of Windows 10 - I use all my software with it and can take it everywhere without the weight of a large desktop or laptop. I read books on it as well and its awesome as a book reader. The charging of the tablet is straight forward, but the keyboard is about as flawed a design as they come, charging wise. That said, not a deal breaker by any means. Overall, a great computer and tablet. It's so good a deal that my Dad bought one too after I advised him to. He loves it as well. Aside from the keyboard not being backlit and the wacky way it needs to be charged, this is as near perfect as a tablet can get.

I got this for my wife because she wanted a tablet-like item that she could use to view sheet music at the piano. The aspect ratio of the screen made it a little more difficult to use for that purpose than I expected, but it still works. However, she wanted something she could also use for the work she does and other purposes. Bottom line is this is basically a Windows tablet with an included bluetooth keyboard. However, it's a more robust machine than tablets currently on the market, and it's heavier than those tablets. This is okay since it's meant to be used as a laptop that turns into a tablet as opposed to a tablet that can be used like a laptop with a keyboard.

Love Asus, but I personally hate bluetooth. I don't know why, but me and Bluetooth can not go along. The laptop was perfect, also as a tablet. The touch-tablet of Asus works better than the Lenovo ones. That's a fact. It is just the keyboard, working on Bluetooth dat gave me problems. I was so sorry the keyboard was not perfect for me.. so, within one week, I returned it back to BestBuy... and did get my money back. Thank you Best Buy.... *smile*

Been using for a month. Overall a good experience. Battery holds charge for 5-7 hours so far. Few notes: - keyboard is kind of heavy, - keyboard needs to be charged separately (keyboard is connected via bluetooth)

It small enough to fit in most book bags great tablet pc hybrid for consuming media but not for making it. Pro light weight, sleek design and expendable memory. Cons the keyboard is a separate charging mechanism that doesn't add battery power to the tablet portion.

I love this computor purchased it to replace a laptop. When used as a tablet I was surprised at how pleasantly large it is PROS; An excellent value, particularly when measured to a Surface and other 2in1 units; Quality of build; Display size and resolution; Light weight; Speed (about 5 seconds from turn on to desktop); Application space(e.g. Office365). I use the Cloud or an external drive for for major storage.. CONS: My only negative feedback that keeps me from rating excellent is the docking procedure. It's complex at first and requires a demonstration by a sales associate. However, don't let that keep you from considering it.

I like this Asus machine quite a lot. The screen is lovely. The keyboard is sound; it would have been better if it was backlit. The M processor is perfectly fine for my uses -- word processing and web stuff, surfing, email, and movies looked & ran great. One annoyance, slight but real, was the consistent delay in the connection between the tablet and the keyboard upon waking. Depending on the price you can find one of these for (I found an open box at a very attractive price) this is a well made piece of kit, and possibly a very good value.

This 2 in 1 looks so much nicer than the other branded offerings. You probably won't be gaming with it but for everyday college student use this is more than sufficient. Nicely equipped at a reasonable price.

I bought this computer a month ago. So far so good. The display is gorgeous. The battery life is about 8-9 hours for me. Typing on the keyboard feels good - the keys are quite crispy. The only downside is that the keyboard is not backlit.

This laptop/tablet is a good machine in that it has enough memory and a large enough HD and I am happy with it's functionality. I haven't been able to make the screen image take up all of the screen space. I'll go to the store and see if their techs can show me how to do that. In the meantime a friend of mine showed me his laptop that he bought at Best Buy and the screen is much larger than mine and it cost him as much as what I payed for this little laptop. That was my fault though for not looking around.

I purchased this laptop to take traveling. Pros - light weight, excellent screen clarity, touch screen added versatility. Cons - cheap connectors between tablet and keyboard, odd charging arrangement for keyboard requiring extra cord. I returned this laptop because it seemed cheaply built and something that would not last long when traveling.
