A Highly Capable Little Laptop

When you go to buy a budget computer, there’s always a certain amount of risk. Even if the computer has good specs there’s a good chance some component can fail on you. I’m pleased to say this Laptop has been a little beast for just about everything I needed it to do. It’s remarkably slim and sleek, and it handles anything web based, and even a few slightly processor intensive tasks, with high speeds. This is definitely a computer built for work and student purposes, but it excels at those functions. Battery life is also plenty capable. The only annoyance is the calculator built into the touch pad, but it’s pretty easy to ignore/deactivate. I often forget it’s even there. Consider this computer if you need something for work or web based functions that you can easily travel with!

Dear Jusbillin,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you.
All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, and are built to last, this is a random problem. If the laptop will no longer boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following. Verify if the AC adapter is connected properly from the laptop to a known good power outlet or AC source. Try another power source. Try to press and hold down the power button to shut it down completely, just in case laptop is not in hibernate mode, wait for at least 10 seconds then power on. Please wait, if the system is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the laptop until the battery was charged.
If you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.
Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Ive had this laptop for about 3 months now. It's pretty fast and powers on quickly! I will say when it came it had a lot of unnecessary stuff on it, but once cleaned up it turned out to be a good computer! The battery life is pretty good. Lasts about 3 days of continuous use on 100%.

I love this little laptop for going to college and using just for schoolwork. It works great and I can take it everywhere with me. It was a good price and you can do all your schoolwork with it downloading and uploading word processing documents, which you cannot do on the go with anything but a laptop..

Decent Laptop for the Price

This is a decent laptop when purchased on sale. I got it for $139. I definitely would not buy it for the regular price of $350. The N4500 processor is slightly faster than the N4020 and paired with the 128gb eMMC, it makes it a good combo. I was debating getting this vs. the other Asus with 64gb but this is the route to go since it does not have an expandable memory (SD card) slot.
Windows 11 runs pretty quick and I switched out of S mode.
Battery life is amazing and drains very little when on sleep mode. I use this as a spare laptop around the house, traveling, etc., so its nice to know the battery won't drain fast while it is off.
My only cons are:
The casing is really smooth and slippery and holds finger prints/oil from your hands.
Bottom of laptop gets pretty hot, so much so that you can't have it sit on your lap for a long time. When using it at home, I have it sitting on top of a cooling fan.
You get what you pay for with the graphics, screen and webcam. The display brightness is great and gets very bright, but its not ultra HD, so things are just not as crisp and clear. However the display when connected to my 27" LED monitor via HDMI is pretty good. The webcam is pretty grainy and I would not recommend if you do a lot of zoom meetings.
The number keypad is not great and accidently gets turned on a lot when typing. I have disabled that.
Overall, its a great spare laptop to have.

ASUS hits the mark with this sleek and cheap laptop! The Intel Celeron N4500 ensures smooth performance, while the 128GB eMMC provides ample storage. Its lightweight design, combined with 4GB memory, makes it a versatile companion for work or play. In Star Black, it's both powerful and stylish.

Wow this was my open box purchase and I would not have known, everything was new. The only thing was the other persons name was on the computer when you logged into windows. Easy fix to delete it. Great computer, compact, light weight, speed good, and easy to use. I really like the number pad on the mouse area. Neat idea.

A great budget laptop! I got this simply for the simplicity of a laptop for basic tasks like email, word processing, and internet. I have not tried any more demanding tasks on it, but so far it has worked flawlessly. Starts up quickly, applications load immediately, doesn't crash or produce errors. Camera and microphone also work very well, and the batter (unplugged) lasts quite a while.

I started using this for my online grad courses and its working wayyyyyy better than I thought. I'm actually impressed that for a 99 bucks(on flash sale) that it can have multiple tabs open and multiple Zoom calls for hours. It never really slowed down. I recommend getting a wireless keyboard combo as the keys on this laptop are very meh.
*Though I would like to mention that I did use it in battery saver mode as I do with any laptops I use to conserve battery. This lasted around 4-5 hours with constant use in battery saver mode.
Mic and camera quality are very mediocre, but for the price point you can't expect the world. It does its job and people can hear and see you fine.
If you are on a budget and need something for online courses or work, this definitely works! If you want to upgrade memory, you can buy several tbs external storage for around 50 bucks.

Usually for this price you are looking at a Chromebook. However this comes with Windows 11 in S mode. Converting out of S mode is super easy and requires a few clicks after logging in with your Microsoft Account. The recent 22H2 update installed flawlessly for me. It comes with 128GB of internal storage which is nice since most laptops in this price range only come with 64. It even has an empty slot to install up to a 512GB internal SSD. The only downside is it does not include the mounting screw for the SSD, so you will have to buy a compatible one since SSDs do not include them. Nothing else is upgradable, but if you can catch this on sale it's a fantastic deal for light office work, internet, etc... For someone that just wants a basic entry level machine you can't go wrong with this Asus laptop. Highly Recommend.

Performance: The Intel Celeron N4500 is an entry-level processor, suitable for basic computing tasks like web browsing, word processing, and streaming media. Don't expect it to handle resource-intensive tasks like gaming or heavy video editing smoothly. With 4GB of memory, multitasking might be limited, and the 128GB eMMC storage could be restrictive for storing large files.
Portability: A 14.0" form factor typically strikes a good balance between portability and usability. It's a convenient size for carrying around while still providing a decent screen real estate for work and entertainment.
Build Quality: ASUS laptops often have a good build quality. Look for features like a solid chassis, comfortable keyboard, and a responsive trackpad. The design aesthetics, such as the Star Black color, might also be a factor in your purchasing decision.
Battery Life: Depending on the laptop model, the battery life may vary. However, entry-level laptops generally offer decent battery performance for casual use but might not have exceptional longevity.
Connectivity and Ports: Consider the availability of ports such as USB Type-A and Type-C, HDMI, audio jacks, and an SD card slot. This ensures compatibility with various peripherals and accessories.
Display Quality: Check the display specifications, including resolution and panel type. A higher resolution and better panel quality can greatly enhance the viewing experience.
Price: Entry-level laptops are typically more affordable, making them suitable for students or users with basic computing needs. Ensure that the price aligns with the specifications and performance you expect.
When assessing a specific model, I recommend checking multiple sources for user reviews, professional opinions, and hands-on experiences to get a comprehensive understanding of its strengths, weaknesses, and suitability for your specific requirements. Factors such as warranty, customer support, and after-sales service are also crucial when purchasing any electronic device.
