Disappointing over time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Computer purchased Aug 2019 worked well for 41 months. Then the fan became very loud and no replacement fans were found available so I got a USB fan to cool it. After this the keyboard is no longer working properly. The backlight will not come on. Seven other keys are not responsive. My attempts to update drivers (Windows tells me all drivers are up to date and working!) I love the touch screen and it is still working. But the rest is super disappointing. I was not given much hope of a reasonable or effective repair.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm no professional, but I love this laptop! great HD screen and keyboard feels good. love the backlit keyboard too. fast for web browsing and casual gaming. The actual operating system is easy to get adjusted too, and works perfect for you're average joe. My previous laptop was also an ASUS. I had that laptop for 7 years and it never gave me a problem. It was time to upgrade to something more modern. I personally trust ASUS products and would recommend them to others.

Flawed Computer from the start and crap service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I fell in love with this computer when I saw it in the store, but looks can be deceiving. Almost immediately I noticed odd little quirks with it, like pixels being strange colors in the screen. That oddly went away over time. The biggest issue was how hot the computer got all the time. Even when the fan would come on, it was so hot that when I would touch it, it nearly burnt me. The sound quality is also terrible too, though I've noticed that being an issue with most of the Asus computers. To make matters worse, I've had this laptop for a year and a half and now the fan has gone bad. It makes such a horrible noise that I literally have to turn the thing off because you can't focus on anything and it hurts your ears. I tried methods of cleaning it like the air in the can and all that, but nothing works. I took it to the store since I still have warranty left and basically got told by the Geek Squad guy that I have viruses. He didn't even look at the computer. He turned it on and just said I have viruses. He tried to blame the programs I have on there, but they are programs I've had on all my laptops that worked just fine. I told him about the fan as I have a friend who owns a computer store, and he dropped the whole program and virus thing after that. Then he tried to say it's probably because I have an update on my computer, and that those updates often take care of hardware issues. The problem was there BEFORE the update was even available, and the computer got way too hot from as soon as I got the computer. He told me that if he sent it in to be looked at, they would send it back as soon as they noticed the update, but yet why can't they just download the update while I have it at the store and then send it in? So here I am, no solution to my computer, more or less because Geek Squad doesn't want to handle the problem despite the fact I have warranty left. Guess I won't be investing my money into anymore warranties if I buy computers through Best Buy in the future.

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, these are random problems.
About your concern about the fan noise. It is normal just like any other brand of laptop with the same hardware configuration, for the fan to spin at full-throttle and generates noise louder than normal while the laptop is under heavy load especially during the initial WINDOWS setup and WINDOWS Update installation. Also, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. Please make sure the system was not compromised by viruses or malware by doing a full system scan using an internet security software or application. Also, ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions since this will affect heat dissipation that will trigger the fan to spin at full speed. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle and noise will be louder than normal. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.

Perfect for a College Student!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop back in May, and it was definitely the best purchase of 2020. I am a full-time college student who, like most students these days, does the majority of classes online. This laptop has performed beautifully. I also occasionally like to run games such as Skyrim, Life is Strange, the Walking Dead, and this little laptop runs the games better than I could ask for! My boyfriend is a bit of a tech nerd and knows more about computers than me, and even he has been impressed with how smoothly my games run on this thing. I also love the light-up keyboard, much needed when doing work or playing games at night. This laptop truly does it all. The only minor setback are the speakers. I do wish they were more powerful, but it's really not a big deal for me. All in all, I would 100% recommend this laptop to anyone!

THE MOUSE IS SO ANNOYING.

I've been with Geek Squad 3 times, each time about an hour trying to figure out what is wrong. I CANT DO ANY WORK. I work from home and have to drive down to Best Buy whenever it does this. Such an in convenience I want to chuck it out the window!

QA Model was very disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.There were two major problems: - The keyboard had to be repaired over 3 times in 2 years - The protocols for the wifi were goofy and unfixable First the keyboard. Like the old Jaguar cars when they ran, they ran great, but they were in the garage way too often. My Asus had to be repaired 3 times in less than two years. I travel on business extensively and this situation was just not workable. Second, the wifi protocols were goofy. I had 3 IT experts try to get the thing to work with my 5Q hotspot, but to no avail. My older Apple and newer HP both work like a charm with the same hotspot.

Apparently chargers are "non-essential" for using
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm extremely disappointed with the way this laptop was disingenuously advertised and sold to me. I specifically purchased this laptop online as an 'Open Box - Satisfactory' condition, because it states that only "Nonessential parts or accessories may be missing" as opposed to the cheaper "Fair condition" level which states VITAL accessories may be missing. When I went to pickup my laptop there was no power cord with it, and as you can't use a laptop without charging it, I consider this pretty essential. I spoke to the store pickup people who then passed me along to customer service, who then told me I had to call the 800 number to try and get this resolved. In the meantime, they told me I could buy one of their universal chargers for an extra $65, bringing the total cost of my purchase to almost the same as brand new off the shelf. It's ridiculous to sell a laptop without the charger, especially without at least disclaiming that, and certainly considering it as "non-vital" to the use of a computer.

Don't waste your money

I bought a brand new Harman Kardon which from Best Buy which was recommended by the person working in the laptop department. It was purchased at the end of October 2019. By mid October 2020, the laptop began making a horrific noise anytime it is on longer than 10 minutes. Of course, the warranty had expired a few weeks before this issue came to be. I've been forced now to use the laptop with this horrible, loud, and distracting noise while studying for anatomy and physiology which is already hard in itself. I don't have the money to take it in, get it diagnosed, and fix what ever issue is going on. I have never even taken this laptop out of my house and has only ever been used for school specific websites and tasks. Very disappointed and won't ever buy from this company again and I recommend that nobody else does either!

Cracked Screen

My computer screen cracked and all I did was place it on the carpet. I have many Laptops and this has never happened to me. ASUS nor BestBuy would not cover the damaged screen. I don't understand why. I thought this laptop was a US Military-grade quality. SMH. I'm so disappointed in the ASUS brand.

computer last only 13 months before breaking
