Continuously had severe slowness problems with this laptop. The CPU was always at or near 100%.
After 2 weeks of trying to resolve it, I returned the laptop.

Do understand the inconvenience and your concern about the 100% utilization on the hardrive and CPU.
This will usually occur when the laptop is under heavy load when WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan, or malware are running in the background. To resolve the issue, try doing a full system scan using an internet security, or an antivirus software to get rid of malware, just in case the system was compromised.
If WINDOWS Update or antivirus is running in the background, do not run any applications. Since these applications utilize lots of system resources, the laptop will become unresponsive or slow whiles are running. Also, please make sure cumulative WINDOWS Updates are being installed periodically in order to maintain optimum speed and performance.

Don’t waste your money on this price of junk. Didn’t even last a year. You also get charged for all these extra services like windows , virus protection etc. Then it’s offerd when you open up your laptop so if you have already purchased this it’s like they trick you into buying again. No point in being charged extra for annual subscription to windows and virus protection if the laptop is not going to last a year. Not even worth a hundred bucks. So disappointed. Save your money and buy direct from HP or Apple.

Not happy with the audio.

Submitting this review after 7 months of use, sometimes the audio sounds gets choppy or distorted. Also, what I don’t like about this laptop is that the Capslock button doesn’t have a light. It’s annoying, it should be one of a basic features of a laptop.

First time I've ever bought an Asus and will be the last time. Runs very slow. Pages freeze. Also times the mouse disappears from the screen. I've always had either Dell or HP and will go back to them. I regret buying this computer.

Certainly, the unit was designed to run light and basic computing applications like web-surfing, emailing and word-processing without compromising system stability and performance. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process.
Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance.

This laptop was compared with all other manufacturers per my specifications and requirements based on my 40 years of experience as an electronics engineer and a government contracting officer technical representative. I purchased this laptop for my personal use from Best Buy because of the sale price. I purchased a 3 year maintenance agreement since the manufacturer warranty is only for one year and does not cover accidental damages. Batteries also tend to fail after 2 years with a smaller percentage lasting more than 3 years. I already had a backup USB hard drive with all my data from my old PC to upload, but purchased the MCAFEE Total Security, 2019 MS Office for Home & Business, a MS LAser Wireless mouse, and most important, an LG USB CD/DVD Writer Diskless Drive for $39.00. This was needed because new cheaper laptops do not have a diskless drive needed for loading my old Software on CDs like my Family Tree software and others. The only way to get around buying the drive is to have the geek squad do this for a minimum cost of $49.00 not including taxes and costs for other tasks like removing garbage programs you have a problem doing especially since they will tell you how to do it for free. Make sure to delete the trial security software from the laptop before loading the new security software even if it is from the same manufacturer. Also uninstall programs you do not want via the control panel. Other game and app software can be uninstalled separately on the Start Menu by highlighting the icon, right clicking, and selecting uninstall. Also recommend checking the start panel ocassionally MS updates adds such malware later via windows updates because of advertising contracts they have with and in the fine print you read or did not read and checked accept. Well, the above is my professional rating, recommendations, and advice.
