Asus builds nice stuff, being a gamer I’ve been buying this brand for years and know they build a quality product . . . they take pride in their brand name and customer’s experience.
This particular model, based on pricing, is a great buy. CPU, RAM, 4K, m.2 drive, and dedicated GPU covers the whole package for much less than the competition’s offerings. The 4K touch display is particularly nice, -bright and responsive.
Build quality is excellent as I would expect from Asus, as well as the battery life. Overall a great find among the many offerings at this price point. Add to all this the fact that this model is a 2 in 1 and you have a great product for your hard earned laptop budget.
Only con is product weight, this will not be the thinnest or lightest, but in return you get the larger display, reasonable cooling (something others cut back on to reduce size and weight) and a purposed GPU. Not overwhelmingly heavy, but if your looking for a tablet only like experience in these areas you may wish to handle an unboxed sample to confirm it meets you needs.

Although getting long in the tooth in terms of hardware generations, what you get for the money is a phenomenal value. It boots up and loads programs instantaneously. The touch screen works well. Tons of storage. The only thing I'd like to see included is a stylus.

I travel for work. I needed a laptop that had enough capacity to hold a lot of movies, pictures, and books and fast enough for gaming and watching all those movies! So far, this laptop has lived up to my expectations.

1 month in, I really like the speed benefit from the 256GB SSD, only wish it was a 512GB.
I really like the 2TB HDD which is big enough for almost all my photos & home videos.
Keyboard has a good feel & a number pad, but the backlighting isn't as good as my old HP.
I had several unhappy days when the computer would randomly stop & go to a blue screen but found a suggestion online to update ALL the drivers - eventually found the culprit & problem has not recurred.
This unit is MUCH smaller and lighter than my old HP.
The 4K screen is great except when I use Resolve the text is so tiny that I can't read it at normal distance. Have been using Premiere Elements instead but some of the display is still hard for me to see. So, I guess I should have realized how this size high res display would present these apps but am still going to label this a negative.
Bottom line - I still like it enough to keep it.

I bought this as a replacement for an HP laptop that finally met it's end. The quality of Asus manufacturing is top notch. With the exception of the graphic card, the specs on this rivals my 2 year old high end custom built PC; and the performance shows. The ability to flip the screen back and use it in tablet mode with touchscreen capability and a Bamboo stylus adds a new dimension of usability that I didn't think would be as useful (or fun) as it actually is.

I couldn't be happier with this laptop after a month. I play a few games. Nothing crazy. Arkham Knight is about the craziest thing I have on it and it handled it well. Little lag once or twice. Touch, keyboard, bezel, all feel nice. Little hard to grab to open from folded. But that may be easier when the hinges wear a little. The power button would be my only complaint. I've bumped it a few times and sent laptop into hybernation which no one likes.

I bought this after my last computer lost the motherboard. I am very happy with it. I do have a couple of things that I'm not thrilled with but the performance has been fantastic. I wish it had the ability to be connected to internet via hard wire, but it still has good performance over wifi. Huge hard drive is great as I take a lot of photos of my daughter and I won't have to move them quite as often to my back up and cloud to save them. Touch screen functions well, only used it in tablet mode a couple of times and it works fine in that mode as well. Only reason for 4 stars is the lack of hard wire capability and the design of the number keypad but it does keep the size of the computer down, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I've had four over a year and have only great things to say about this laptop. It handles my work flow perfectly. The screen is phenomenal. The speed is fantastic. And most importantly to me, digital art is fine without skips. Paired with the bamboo ink pen, this is a great match!

I got this laptop for editing pictures in Photoshop. The storage capacity is great and everything runs smoothly.
The biggest issues are the battery life and the touch pad. The touch pad doesn't always register movement and takes a few tries (super frustrating). And, the battery dies super fast. I can't be on it for more than an hour off the charger. I got a laptop so that I wouldn't always have to be tethered, but it's definitely not a good traveling laptop. Maybe for taking with you just to plug in somewhere else.

so to be fair, it looked appealing at first. Nice sleek design, minimal bezel, and the display is very nice, crisp and clean. The screen is actual glass. this is unfortunately my only compliment.
Power button is conveniently placed in the perfect spot so that you will absolutely lean on it and turn it off and lose everything you have opened when you carry/walk with it. Just brilliant...
touch pad is pure garbage. EVERYONE has the same issue. It will seize up, stall as you use it and zoom in and out during scrolling. a lot of times it just deactivates completely. you'll have to restart it to use the touchpad again.
Software I use
Chrome: mousepad causes the curser to seize/stall. locks zoom, zooms in and out when using two-finger scroll.
Autocad 2020 - CONSTANTLY freezing. anything you do causes the curser to stall, fans running on max. NOTHING else is running. the file is 1.5MB
Sketchup 2019- Stalls all the time. Cannot handle a 2MB file. Copy+paste occasionally causes the program to just crash.
Adobe Creative suite- illustrator, photoshop- lags unbelievably.
MS Word- crashes on a regular basis. All the icons turn white, and "CTRL+" dialog fills the screen. dialog boxes turn white but you can still click on them.
Blue screen of death is the norm.
Conclusion: graphics card cannot handle a 4K screen using anything beyond web browsing. if you switch to a lower mode, say 1920x1080, then everything is fuzzy. Lots of hype, but ZERO performance. my 7 year old macbook performed better in sketchup and AutoCAD than this.
Unfortunately, asus takes 2-4 weeks to repair and that means no work OR buy another laptop in the meantime... so its now just thrown to the side like the trash it is, they should have a promotion, "Buy1 get one free" to compensate for the absolute nightmare this purchase has been. first and last asus.

Great speed. Great display. Easy set up. Only reason it got 4 stars is because when you use the tablet mode the screen is so close to the edges it’s hard not to touch areas you don’t mean to.

I love this laptop. It has more than enough storage to fit my needs, it runs great, it's thin and lightweight compared to the one I had. I love the fact that you can use it as a tablet too so I can fold it over to play my games and not have to use the mouse. The big screen is great on my old eyes--it is bright and clear and easy to read.

Bought this as a replacement for the Asus 2 in 1 with only a SSD drive handle everything and a mouse pad that displayed screen. Failed at least 3 times a day for 4 weeks. Returned for this gem. Extra HD and SSD for operating system made the difference. Wife has low vision acuity and this seemed to help tremendously. Highly recommend

1 Dual fans that are very responsive, I have already done some light to medium gaming and the fans go with the processor mild to turbo speed and keep the temp pretty good.
2 It has dual Solid copper heat sinks wrapped in a matte black coating to help to cool
3 It has a Pantone validated 4k screen Which just means it has been calibrated for the truest colors
4. I don't use it but the 2 in 1 feature, This I use just on my desk but it is nice to use it on my lap now and again as a tablet.
5 Touch Screen, love that in 4k
6 comes with 16 GB ram ddr4 and 2 TB HDD and 256 SSD
7 it has a great backlit keyboard and the keys are perfect as far as the depth they go down, resistance, and size. Plus this model added back a pg up, down-home and end button on the function keys.

I have zero complaints about this computer. It's super fast and super easy to use. I bought it because of all the stuff going on in the world right now and schools closing last school year so that my daughter could do her work and I could also do mine because old faithful finally went out. It's usually my husband the tech guru who buys all of our electronics but I came home with this computer and he was shocked because of how great it is and the price was completely reasonable. Absolutely worth the buy. My husband says it games better than most laptops (keep in mind he's saying that in a with it not being a gaming laptop way) but for not being gaming it kept up well. I do lot of work and video streaming and the video quality is just great. Again super fast, easy to use, and just all around a great computer. Well worth the cost. I waited to write this review because sometimes you'll have something that's great and in just a couple months it's just creeping. Not this one.

Has me a little worried

I did a really long search for the right laptop. I wanted to buy direct from ASUS because they've got some advanced stuff that was intriguing. Then, when it was time to buy, most of my top options were not available from any retailers, including the ASUS site, itself. This was a middling compromise. I didn't want to wait much longer for the shiny new ones to be back in stock. Props to the other reviewer who determined that this is a BB-exclusive model and exactly which main-site model it's most similar to. You should definitely shuffle through the other reviews here on the other ASUS options before purchase.
The reason this laptop has me worried is because, on the start-up screen, there's always been glitchy graphics popping around the screen as the computer wakes back up. It has me so concerned that I changed the power settings so that the computer will go low-power, but won't really shut down unless I do so manually. Additionally I was unsure of how to wake the computer back up when it was idle for long enough and it was, in fact, the power button. It keeps everything open but seems to need to be completely restarted when waking it up? So I just changed the power settings. The power button itself is tiny, like the button on the side of a phone. I'm hoping it doesn't wear out easily.
There is the standard ASUS bloatware. I'm not an advanced-enough user to determine which of those things it's safe to uninstall so I've mostly left it, like I did with my last ASUS laptop. It takes a few extra minutes at the end of each restart to close out the programs that are running for... seemingly no reason? But I just deal with that.
I use a separate keyboard via USB so the weird keyboard isn't much of an issue for me but, just as a warning, it IS a weird keyboard. The directional keys were made super tiny (even though there's extra space around them that could have been put to use) and the number pad is in a weird arrangement. Zero isn't at bottom-center, it's at bottom-left, so if you use the number pad a lot, that will take quite a while to get used to.
Overall I'm happy with it, as I was with my previous BB-purchased ASUS computers (this is my third). But I'm glad I got the Geek service plan because that start screen does have me a bit worried. It makes a bit more noise when gaming than I expected, but I was also prepared for it to get hotter than it does. I feel like a worried parent, aiming a tiny fan at my keyboard while I play lol. It's been almost two months and it does what I need it to!

Screen Does Weird things

Overall the computer is great. It's super fast the tablet mode is awesome, the touch screen in super responsive and it holds a charge.
BUT, the screen does this weird thing when viewing images against a dark or black background, OR when it is unplugged from the charger. Areas of photos that are supposed to be sharp go fuzzy. I tried every screen setting I could think of but nothing helped. That alone makes this laptop unusable for anyone in photography, video or any media arts for that matter.

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro, a Surface Pro 4, and now this laptop. I am an engineering student and needed a windows computer for some of my class work and my SP4's screen was a little too small for me while on travel for work. This laptop is very fast, quiet, and a beautiful bright screen. The only real issue I have is with the trackpad, it is just bad. It sometimes stops moving and you have to give it a second and try again, or it is over sensitive and picks up a hovering thumb while typing. I have updated all the drivers, cleaned the pad, and tweaked all the settings with no change. The only approach that works currently is to disable the mouse and use an external device. I suggest against the Bluetooth mice as Bluetooth is also hit or miss with this laptop. I don't mention this issue is the title as it has greatly improved since the latest windows update (may be an OS issue vs driver/hardware issue). I reached out to ASUS customer support for help and will update my rating after I hear back from them.

Great, Powerful Computer

This is a great, powerful computer. I love the separate graphics card for editing photos in Photoshop. It also has a 2TB hard drive, something that is difficult to find anymore. The 256GB solid state drive that also comes with it is nice but not big enough to do Itunes/Iphone backups. Itunes will only backup to the C drive (which for me is the 256GB SSD where all my programs are located since they run more efficiently there). More of an Itunes problem than a computer problem but maybe ASUS will decide to put in bigger SSD drives in their workhorse computers in the future. Not all of us operate everything through cloud-based programs. It seems logical to me if I'm spending this much money on a powerful computer, I'm going to want a ton of storage to go along with it. All in all, I'm very happy with this computer - and I'm VERY picky about my computers.
