Indeed, the laptop does boot up fast. I do understand the inconvenience if you started experiencing issue with the fingerprint scanner or reader. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized, and the fingerprint scanner will be more responsive. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. Lasted about a couple months after getting the motherboard replace the 2nd time and it started running hot again and a couple weeks later it kept rebooting, wasn't worth the trouble of getting it repaired a third time for the same problem. In addition to overheating product would freeze up often and performance was lacking. I would not recommend this product or brand.

Broken Hardrive out of box

I turned off the computer and reset the router. Upon restarting it had deleted the password to log on to the computer. Luckily the pin code still worked. I factory reset the computer and it took over 12 hours to reset. Upon starting up again it still would not connect and did not present with the same option when setting up the computer. I took it into geek squad and they couldnt even get it to get off of the blue screen. I was told it had a broken hard drive and that I should upgrade to a better computer (Lenovo Legion). Cost me more money and then that computer had an issue as well and had to be traded in for another.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the product. I do understand your disappointment and the inocnvenience if you are experiencing system crash with a blue screen of death, and it will no longer boot up normally in WINDOWS. Please try to do a PC Reset and install all updates, if reset was successful. If PC Reset didn't work in order to resolve the issue, you can do a factory restore using a Recovery Media. If you were not able to create one, you can use the Media Creation tool to create one. The tool and the ISO image for WINDOWS is available and can be downloaded at the Microsoft website. You can use a memory card or an external USB device to create the recovery image. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within 6 months of ownership and maybe 4 instances of use (for traveling only when I can't use my superior desktop setup), the motherboard has already been replaced and now the OS is completely on the fritz, which is conveniently NOT covered by either BB's or ASUS warranty. BB wants me to purchase a $200 service plan to run diagnostics and see if it's the hard drive. If it turns out to be the hard-drive, I still have to pay the $200+ for the service to figure out the problem. Absolutely ridiculous. All of these issues happening conveniently after I can no longer return the product in full. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT purchase this computer, and especially not at BB!!

We certainly understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused you if you are experiencing system freeze or lockup.
To resolve the issue, please try to install cumulative WINDOWS Update if this is not being performed periodically. If this was performed to no avail, please try to do a PC Reset or restore it to factory settings. However, if a recent WINDOWS Update may have caused the issue, please uninstall the recent update inside Settings, Update & Security, click "View update history", and from the list uninstall the update that may have caused the issue.
