Every time I closed it and put it in tablet mode it would freeze up and the touch screen wouldn't work. Even in regular laptop mode the screen would freeze up. Maybe if I would have bought it brand new or would have been differently?

I certainly understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused you. All products refurbished or re-certified by ASUS undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections. The system freeze and other issues with the laptop are temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be, brand-new or refurbished. This may take longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot or restart during the update process. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance. Good laptop but start up is slow

I do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing slow boot up time with the laptop. To speed up the boot up time, processes and services not being used can be disabled in the Task Manager, Startup Menu. Also, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically in order to maintain optimum system stability and performance. Since a SSD is faster than a mechanical hardrive, upgrading to a SSD will definitely enhance or boost system speed and performance.
