If you have a few $hundred$ extra in your budget i would splurge for the 4kUHD version. You'll get the value out of this computer with either version though. Only dowside is that this model does not have a backlit keyboard.

Bought it for my little sister and she loves it. I have been using my older Asus for over 4 years and still works great. So hers will last, I hope longer and better being a newer model.

Only problem is when turning it on sometimes, there is a black screen which I have to troubleshoot to get rid of in order to see what's on the laptop. My first asus laptop I bought from this Roseville Best Buy, had the same issue. The second one (same model), the black screen issue started after a few weeks.

It's great to know that you are satisfied with the laptop overall. I do understand your concern regarding the unit going into a black screen when powering on or booting up. If a recent WINDOWS Update was just installed, the unit will go into a black screen temporarily while updates are being applied in the System Registry. Once the updates were applied successfully, this black screen issue will go away. Another solution to try is to shutdown the unit completely by pressing and holding the power button until it power off. Wait for at least 10 seconds then press the power button to power on. It had all of the things that I was looking for in a laptop, even though I had to purchase a couple of other items to make it complete. Thanks again Best Buy got such a great deal in the Asus Laptop.

Its lived up to its claims. Just one thing I don't like is the charger gets pretty hot when charging

Sound was excellent, look was great, the value ($$) was fantastic... BUT, when it crashes on you twice (blue screen of death) and locks up on you more than a dozen times all in the FIRST WEEK... The good stuff about it no longer matter!! I returned this computer 8 days after purchase. Found a Dell with comparable specs and only cost me $50ish more! Maybe I got a machine with bad hardware, but it was a bad enough experience that I will never buy ASUS again!

Absolutely, it is a great product! I do understand your disappointment if you experienced Blue Screen Of Death and system lockup within first week of usage. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot or restart during the update process. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance. If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be happy to help.

Pro: Fast in most areas Solid build, keyboard feel, back lite keyboard, touch screen, fingerprint ID works well Bluetooth pairs well with other devices under $ 1000 16G memory! Con: Graphics capabilities sometimes noticeable, Slight delay on boot (need SSD) Runs warm at times, battery life can go quick, only 2 USB 3.0 Note: Not considering a gaming machine, did not perform will with Intel graphic benchmarks, but the display and resolutions is very good, able to do basic 3D Very well *** Does NOT have Ethernet port **** but have found the Wifi very robust without any issues os speed or connectivity issue. I assume you could get an network adapter if necessary with the usb ports (My MacBook Pro does not have an Ethernet Port) *** Limited usb ports (2) usb 3.0 **** but has usbc -- which is fast, and a charging capability on the usb 3.0 .. for other devices - like your phone Windows HOME: But so far the OS seems robust and all devices work well -- Latest version of office runs well HDMI - works well with projector Side note: My work machine is a MacBook Pro at 3X the cost, and the only major advantage with that machine is the graphics performance and MAC OS - but the feel and performance is similar and I like the ASUS build and feel. Not sure how support will be, but found the support page for drivers and documentation adequate. Hoping I do not run into issues that some faced, so far I see no hardware/software issues and everything I load seems to work. I develop code and have Java/C++ and Node development tools loaded.

As it relates to the optimal performance, please ensure that all Windows Updates are completed and all the Unitlies, Drivers, and Bios are installed by going into ASUS official support site https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/Q525UA/HelpDesk_Download/.
