Customers are saying

Customers praise the 24" LED FHD Monitor's picture quality, refresh rate, and its suitability for gaming. Many also appreciate the monitor's price and vibrant colors, along with its ease of setup and use. However, some users express dissatisfaction with the built-in speakers. A few reports mention issues with the lack of an HDMI cable or the presence of dead pixels, though these seem to be less frequent concerns.

I used this monitor for my PS4. Noticeable difference in response time from my plasma TV. Timer function is useful only if you have games that really need a timer (FYI: the timer is in set increments). The Crosshair is static to the middle of the screen. It cannot be moved around or re-positioned. I mounted the screen, so the height adjustment I cannot comment on. Screen rotation works as advertised. Color reproduction to me was excellent. Built in speakers are not good; however, I knew this before the purchase. Make sure that you are using an external audio source and not relying on speakers from this monitor.

    Incredible Monitor - Poor Speakers

The monitor looks amazing while playing games. I love the 144hz. After using this for a few weeks it was jarring going back to my 60hz monitor. My only complaint is that the speakers are horrible. If you turn them too high, they start to have a really bad buzzing sound. Just plan on using other speakers/headphones instead of the monitor's.

I had been using a 60hz monitor for most of my pic gaming life and always discredited people for hyping up anything faster. They would always say it was such a big difference at 120hz or 144hz. Well they were totally right! It isn't huge but it makes things smoother and almost gives you more time to react when someone hops out frombehjnd a corner. My only recommendation would be to have a video card that's able to put out at least 144 fps to match the refresh rate of this monitor. But even if you don't fulfill that it will be beneficial to your gameplay!

Before I got this monitor I was working off of a 27" IPS display. I loved the colors on it, I loved the size, everything about that monitor just about fit my needs to a "t". Except for one thing: Gaming. It was decent, boasting a respectable response time and good resolution, but something about it was off. It just didn't play as well as on my older LCD monitor. That's when I heard about the VG248QE. I took a chance and ordered the monitor. So far, no regrets. I was BLOWN AWAY by the smoothness and snappiness of this panel. If you have never seen a mouse cursor zip around the screen at 120+ fps, I can assure you it is an experience. I spent the first 10 minutes after getting this thing set up just moving the mouse around with my mouth agape. Gaming is fantastic as well. If you can drive the panel at it's intended 144FPS, it's absolutely amazing. All of my games just feel better. The stand is good, with tilt, swivel and height adjust, it has VESA mounting holes on the back, and the menu comes with a full brace of configuration options to let you tweak the color however you want. In regard to the color though, they come from the factory pretty washed out. I would recommend changing the color settings to sRGB to get a more accurate display, and even then they aren't as deep as an IPS display. Other than the color, the panel is pretty much perfect, and I plan on using it for a very, very long time. P.S. You will either need a Dual-link DVI cable or DisplayPort connector to use the 144hz mode. There is a Dual-link DVI cable in the box, just make sure that your graphics card/computer can handle it before buying.

For the price you can’t go wrong with it. Yes, the colors is not that accurate and yes the view angle is not like IPS monitor. But, if you’re in front of it and playing first shooter games with 144hz and 1Ms response time you will find it just like any high end $600 gaming monitor. So if you’re going to buy this monitor for gaming ONLY and you’re on budget go for it and don’t look back, if you’re not on budget and you want a monitor for everyday use including gaming then don’t buy this one or any TN panel technology go with IPS panel instead.

I bought this monitor mainly for the refresh rate and the size and versatility . I didn't realize that this could be wall mounted but actually not what I intended. I bought it for my gaming experience and I was very impressed. The FPS and rendering were smooth, no distortion and no hesitation. Plus it is 3D compatible and if you install it on the base it comes with, it swivels in the direction you need it to be. ASUS has always found a place in my home as a trusted product and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

This is a good monitor overall for gaming. With a third party app was able to get it to run at 144hz and with 1ms response it doesn't seem to lag on games. Comes with some good color options. The only negative is some modes are hard on the eyes, after adjustments and blue light filter all is good.

Good But Screen Tearing Is A Problem For Me

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I first received this I was pleasantly surprised with the large screen and beautiful colors. As I continued to use this, I noticed that screen tearing was very prevalent. A prime example of this is Battlefront II (2017) where the tearing is beyond noticeable. I am using a RX 580 GPU and I was saddened by the fact that this monitor does not support AMD Freesync. Any help stopping the screen tearing would be appreciated.

The experience between using a high refresh rate monitor and a regular 60hz one is night and day. The experience of just using the Windows shell becomes incredibly smooth. Gaming is similarly great. If you have the specs to run games at high FPS, this monitor is perfect. My only complaint is the color calibration out of the box. However, a quick google search and some fiddling with the monitor's on-screen prompts, it'll look good enough to game on. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who isn't primarily using their PC for games though.

If you are looking to make the jump to a 144hz monitor and dont want to spend the bigger bucks than this is your best choice. I love it !!! However you want to do your homework first. This is a great choice for PC or gaming console...but...remember gaming consoles only put out 60hz at this point. The 1ms response is helpful however :-) For PC this rocks but again...you have to do your homework on this monitor on how to set up the calibration for this one or your colors wont look the way you want them. It takes some playing around and personal choice but its worth the time spent.

For those of you that wanted a 144 Hz/1ms delay monitor for a good price, this monitor does the job. Please keep in mind that out of the box it does not come with a display port/DVI-dual link cable, so you will need to buy those as well if you want to reach 144 refresh rate. As other reviews said the monitor does have washed out colors, I used the settings below (courtesy of Reddit) which helped it a lot. Settings: -Theater mode -Contrast = 83 -Saturation = 42 -Color temp = user mode with all three set to 83 -Skin tone = natural -Sharpness = 50 -Trace Free = 40 -ASCR = On Getting 144 Hz on Windows 10: Also note the monitor will default to 60 Hz out of the box, even with a new cable. To change this on Windows 10 (with creators update) go to display settings, click display adapter properties, and then click the monitor tab and select the refresh rate you want. (if you have more than 1 monitor make sure to have the right one selected before trying to change the settings). Overall, for the price, its a good monitor, arrived quickly and in good condition. Will probably buy a second one to replace my other monitor, Overwatch looks great on it.

    4 Years of Quality Gaming

This December marks my 4 year anniversary with this wonderful monitor. Old faithful, this screen has been through everything with me and it still works great. Despite the fact that it runs brighter than the Sun out of the box, this monitor is the best I've ever had by far. After you do some basic calibration - there are plenty of guides online on how to do this - it looks phenomenally. The stand is amazing and allows you to lift the screen up 6 inches, tilt it in any direction, or spin it around; heck, you can turn this puppy 90 degrees on its side if you want. This makes plugging anything into the ports a breeze because you can literally just flip the screen upside-down, add or remove your cables, and spin it back to it's original position in seconds. When I bought this 4 years ago it was one of the best gaming monitor available: 144Hz refresh, 1ms response, 3D tech (lawl), antiglare TN panel with great colors, and built in speakers! Not only does this monitor still hold up compared to newer 1080p monitors, but if it's ever on sale it becomes an amazing value. I normally use this with my gaming PC but when my beautiful child was born recently started taking my PS4 with me and my monitor - and that's when I remembered this thing has speakers and started using them for the first time. Those speakers saved me when I couldn't look for my headphones because my newborn was sleeping on me but I was trying to watch a movie or play God of War. There were many sleepless weeks made much more tolerable by this monitor. Thank you Asus for making a quality product that is just as good today as the day I bought it. I'd recommend this monitor to anyone who wants to game at 1080p and get the most out of that resolution in 2019. 10/10

This is my first monitor upgrade in about three years. I'm coming from an older Acer 2ms refresh 20" monitor. This monitor is an amazing upgrade. It handles everything from gaming to Word documents with ease. One of the features I like about this monitor are the different presets for viewing different content. It also has a blue filter setting to cut down on blue light when my eyes are tired or those times when I'm working on office documents or surfacing the web. The filter helps avert eye fatigue when my screen is mostly white which happens a lot with Office applications and web pages. What I don't like is the inability to save the modifications to any of the pre-sets. I took one star off for that. Otherwise I think this is an excellent monitor. I have running next to my old Acer 20" monitor in duel display mode. No sense in throwing out old equipment if it can still be put to good use.
