Love the MX279 monitor. Since I'm looking at it for hours a day, it helps greatly that the monitor is beautiful and pleasant to view. I'm proud to have it on my desk, and people ask about it. I use it with an ASUS laptop and a video HDMI cable, and with a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, giving it a desktop feel. The large 1080p display allows me to view a page of text, or two (side-by-side). It lacks some extra features, e.g., it does not have a touch screen and it cannot be rotated ninety degrees. But the audio is quite good.

Asus 27" IPS LED HD monitor- I purchased this monitor to go with an Asus ROG desktop. First off, this is a great monitor- really good size with a great look. It's not a touch screen, which is perfect because we didn't want one. I almost didn't get this because in store it was flimsily BUT the one in store was broken. Don't let the look fool you, the stand is very sturdy with the monitor on it. There is no wobble on my desk, really nice monitor. My kid using this primarily for gaming, picture quality is great. I did not need to purchase any extra cables to connect this to the desktop, it came with everything. Very easy to set up, sound quality is actually pretty good. Definitely recommend for the quality and price.

Great monitor with impressive resolution. The built-in speakers have been adequate for everyday use like watching videos and listening to music. Huge screen makes multitasking easy, I have enough space to snap a few windows and essentially have the same productivity that I would with dual monitors. The sun dial design and chrome features are also very visually appealing, clearly separating this from your standard office monitor. I have no complaints thus far.

I first purchased a cheaper competitors model which looked good on VGA but when I connected the TV (I need dual purpose use) the picture was aweful, so I went back to Best Buy and luckily found this Asus 27" monitor. I simply love the video (isn't that what you buy a monitor for?) with both computer and 1080 TV video. The resolution for both is native 1920 x 1080 and after first setting it up it didn't fill the screen. You must play with the menu adjustment to bring it out to full screen. Even though it has a frameless design, that doesn't mean the video goes to the very edge of the monitor, only that a thin 1/2" bezel is hidden under the face panel. This edge remains dark when the monitor is on. You still have a full 27" display and the overall size of the screen is 28". The overall size is even bigger if you measure to the bottom silver bezel which is just a styling element really. The most bothersome concern at first use is that it does not come with a remote control and there is none available. However, the automatic switching between sources of video is nice and since it is unlikely that I would watch TV the same time I use the computer, it works out fine. (Although a PIP feature would have been great). If a TV monitor is what you want, and you don't sit about 1 meter or less from the screen, then you can have the PIP and remote control features with a TV, but at this price point and for use as a computer monitor in which you can't see the pixel separation even close up, this monitor is very hard to beat. I used a 32" Samsung LED HDTV as a monitor for a few months before this, but this monitor beats that experience for close up text reading and clarity.
The chrome circular foot for the monitor is simply beautiful... too bad I always have papers on my desk between my keyboard and monitor covering this beautiful feature. I am not a fan of the layout of buttons on the bottom of the lower bezel and how it is not intuitive how to change between menu items, but the buttons are super touch sensitive and don't need to be depressed, only the presence of your finger over the sensor so you don't have to steady the monitor in order to push in a button... this is a really nice feature... just wish the button layout was more intuitive. The power LED is very dim so not harsh when turned on or off (the color changes). The image is crisp regardless of the video source, but I don't care for the fact that the inputs are limited to two HDMI's and one of those is used with a cable that comes with the monitor that terminates at a DVI connector. Fortunately this works out for my setup now, but if I wanted to test a computer with a VGA only output I'd either need some adapter (which it doesn't come with) or I'd have to upgrade the graphics card. However, this is the current technology and it does make for a clean connection at the back without fussing with screws (VGA). So with the noted concerns you may wonder why I still rated it 5 stars. I may have rated it down to 4 stars for the lack of a remote, but it truly isn't a hindrance to reach another foot to touch the screen and switch inputs while seated right in front of the monitor and if I needed a TV with much lower PPI resolution, that I viewed from across the room, then I would have bought an HDTV. The reason for 5 stars is the picture... it is really excellent with a high enough PPI that you can't see individual pixels, and with the matte-finish screen you get no reflections from nearby windows and lights making it less fatiguing to view for long periods of time. I am impressed by the TV (HDMI) quality relative to other monitors in this price range (and I include up to 32" HDTV's) that this one shines as a great value. I highly recommend it - if you need a computer/TV monitor you will not be disappointed. I got mine on sale for $60 off which just sweetened the deal and even without that discount it would be an excellent value. At this writing this monitor is again on sale for $30 off.

Exactly what I was looking for. Great style, near bezel less display, big size, great display. Speakers are better than any other built in on a monitor but still nowhere near standalone speakers.

Tried to talk myself out of buying such a large monitor. Hubby talked me into it. Glad he did! Incredible color, and the larger screen is great for surfing the net, working on documents, etc.

Overall, love the monitor. The build is solid, no missing or dead pixels, solid colors for computer work and vivid, jump out of the screen colors for movies. A friend thought the movies looked so good, he asked if it was 3D!
Several quirks. The buttons are difficult to use and have a very sensitive touch. I got used to them fairly quickly, but they are disconcerting at first. If you just lightly brush them they activate. I learned to just lightly tap the buttons, and to be careful not to accidentally touch other buttons.
The logic behind the buttons is completely screwy. Why can't there just be an up and down volume button? The buttons have multiple purposes depending on context. If you want to raise the volume, you first have to lower it, which changes one of the other buttons into a volume up button. Go figure. But once you get used to it, it is okay. The buttons seem flimsy, so a good reason to get a service contract.
Second, the color quality as delivered was not very good. I messed with the settings and it got a bit better, but I found a detailed review on another website (starts with A) that suggested downloading a new driver from ASUS, and then after installing the driver, making certain specific suggestions for settings. After I did both, the color and level of detail was fantastic. Well worth tracking down.
Overall, a much better monitor than my old clunker, and looks great on my desk. As long as you don't mind the buttons, and are willing to mess with the driver and settings, you'll end up very happy!

It was easy to hook up, I love the size. I thought it might be too big, but it's not. The picture is clear, color is great. It wasn't on sale, but it was still a good price.

I did a lot of research before finally buying a new monitor to replace my old 22 inch one. I was looking for better picture quality, color, resolution, size, etc. After my research, I decided that I wanted an ASUS monitor, and was leaning toward IPS. After seeing and using this monitor at my local Best Buy, I decided it was what I wanted for my new monitor. I did some more research, and found a better deal on another site. Fortunately, Best Buy met the other offer, and I was able to avoid the concern about purchasing a monitor online.
I've been using this monitor for about a month now, and love it. Everything looks great on it... Movies, games, pictures, websites, you name it. I guess my only complaint at all would be that I see some lag/skipping when I am playing a game, but I have the feeling that is more a fault of my video card. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase, and it looks like Best Buy has it on a good sale right now as well.

The display is very stylish and gorgeous; it has very accurate colors and contrast ratio, it also has a good response time which makes it suitable for gaming. The only thing I miss in this monitor is height adjustments, but you still can tilt and rotate it easily.

The store was out of stock on these so they shipped one. It arrived 2 days later!! I was so surprised and VERY happy! The monitor was packed very nicely and I had no damage (my biggest fear about shipping!) Out of the box the monitor will need to be calibrated! It was set on the highest brightness and contrast possible. Now that my settings are set the screen is so beautiful! Looks so real and sharp! You will not be unsatisfied with this monitor if you do any kind of photo editing, graphic design or gaming. SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! I have gotten complements from everyone who has seen it!

For my needs, this is a perfect monitor. I use it daily in my home office as a productivity monitor connected to a Macbook Pro and in the evenings as a gaming monitor for my Xbox One. The colors are vibrant and text is sharp, thanks to the IPS display. For gaming, it is exceptional for competitive games, with extremely low input lag (one of the lowest on displaylag.com) and reasonably quick refresh rate. Not to mention, the monitor is aesthetically one of the best looking, with a matte screen, silver bezel, and sundial stand. Can't go wrong with this monitor.

Pros:
*Good color, I really like theater and game mode.
*Probably the best response time you will see in an IPS, other tests have found this monitor to be below 1ms.
*Bright no matter what angle you look at it...basically an IPS monitor
Cons:
*Base is slightly wobbly
*Frame rate is a bit unstable as a whole across the image...standard for an IPS monitor.
*No VESA mount
