First off, I'm not a techie...have enough back ground to build my own computers and navigate through most technical devices but far from an expert. I bought two of these. The first was as a router and the second as an access point. Both were easy to setup without any issues. I ended up buying two because the router was placed in an office on the far side of the house in a wooden entertainment center. That effected the strength of the signal, so I opted to buy a second one. I hardwired it running Cat 6 in the attic and dropped it down in the living room to create the access point (you can do it wirelessly as well but want to get the full signal strength to the living room). I thought about buying a regular access point, but when you start comparing the data speed and number of bands, you basically end up spending $300 anyway and getting less data speed compared to using this as an access point. Plus, by treating this as an access point, it gave me 8 LAN ports to hardwire all my devices in the living room, so I thought it was a better deal. Also, fyi, I recycled an old 10 year router at best buy for a 15% off coupon. When this went on sell for $319, I used the 15% off and picked it up for $271...not a bad deal saving $78! I won't get into all the data speed measurements as it varies on usage, but what I will say is by having two of these on opposite sides of the house, I get my full 5gz/2gz speed through most of the house. I also love the fact you get the option of splitting the ssid between 5gz and 2gz or combining it into one as well as the access point uses the same ssid to be able to hand off when walking across the house. I have only started to use the product but enjoy the ease of seeing which client devices are connected to your network, the data usage of each device, the ease of turning on 160mhz on the 5gz band, etc....I still need to play with the guest network, parent controls, and other security features. The only drawback for me is it didn't have WPA3 or a WAN that supported larger than 1G speed. But, I figured the WPA3 is just a security feature and the likely hood that I would ever get (and afford) over 1G of internet speed is highly unlikely in the near feature. I think I saw Comcast offering 2G for almost $300 a month, ouch! Anyway, this router find my needs and both units have been working flawlessly since purchase.

The router is very customizable and can lift a heavy load. It can handle tons of devices and is also set up for wifi 6 protocol. It has tons of options when you want to put your bandwidth into gaming, working from home, streaming, and so much more. The dedicated software that automatically connects to the fastest servers for your games is a really cool idea. You really can tell a difference with QOS and the quality in this device and loads screen super fast. Also, you can combine all bandwidth or split it up into a 2.4 channel or 5.0. Yes, it is pricey but as the saying goes, you pay for quality and you get what you pay for with this device. Note: Speeds will vary with your plan with your ISP. Make sure you are running most current firmware with device.

This is my first ASUS router. So far (one month), it has shown great speed, great stability, easy to install and setup. This is a great product. A bit expensive but it has been worthy.

After buying multiple routers for a home mesh I landed on this router. Running two of them in AiMesh. It's not cheap but it's fast and solid. Went through a few TPLink and the pricey Netgear Orbi (stay away from that one forces QoS and cannot disable). I've had this for about a month now. 60-70 clients. Easily 600-800Mbit wireless and zero issue maxing out my gigabit internet connection. Great coverage with one but with a big house 2 of them with Ethernet backhaul is amazing.

The ASUS RT-AX88U is a very powerful wireless router. Installation was very quick and easy, and setting up a VPN on it was also very quick and easy. Besides its 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and 256 MB Flash and 1 GB of RAM, another feature that it has and I wanted in the router is a wireless on/off button, which is conveniently located on the right front of the router, next to the LED on/off button. Since I hardly ever use Wi-Fi, it makes sense to turn it off when not in use. However, if you need 24/7 Wi-Fi for IoT monitoring devices, this option would not benefit you. Another great feature is the Guest Wi-Fi, which uses its own SSID and password, and blocks access to the home network. Not only is it great for visitors, for security and privacy it's ideal for connecting game consoles and IoT devices to. With the VPN activated on it, I have not noticed any reduction in speed when I test it at speedtest.net. When it comes to security, it also has the new WPA3-Personal option available on both the main and guest networks. This router has pretty much everything one could possibly need. I am very happy with it. However, I wish more routers came with the Wireless on/off Button like the ASUS RT-AX88U has, as it makes sense to be able to turn it off when not in use. It also helps reduce electrical usage a little.

I can't provide all the geek specs many have offered, but if you are looking for range and the ability to see what's going on in your wireless or network home, this is a home run. I dumped the new Spectrum router, which provides zero information or your home net, a Spectrum CSR couldn't even help me find the default gateway, for this AX88U. Mostly was looking for range, as previous routers can't seem to make it past one wall in my house, I found the wireless setup a breeze, with a few hiccups in my wired network, probably just as much to due with Windows 10 Pro. They provide a dedicated CSR phone number for new users in the box and I got right through. And for geeks, the software has anything you could want. For novices giving it a go, there's balloon tips on each entry to help you along. And the range I was looking for pretty much came through, about 50%, where I couldn't get anything before. And with the connection readouts, security software and parental controls, not sure what else you could need for a home setup?

I purchased this router to replace a 3 year old Asus router. This router is much faster, easier to setup, and has excellent broadcast coverage as installed in my basement. This router provides full coverage to the the two stories above it in my home.

Whether you need to replace your existing router or wish to future proof yourself with a Wifi 6 capable unit, this is definitely one of the best currently out there! I've been using an Asus RT-AC68P since 2016. I started experiencing signal fluctuations and connection loss on my wireless devices with my router only being about 50-60 feet away. They say you should replace routers every 4 years or so and I'm the type of person that likes to stay current with the latest technology so I figured this was the perfect excuse to upgrade to an AX band router. Not only does my wifi signal stay strong, I've run speed tests at various times with great results. I'm enrolled in the Optimum 200 and somehow get 235. Setup was fast and easy. Only issue I had was updating the firmware for the first time. I went to their website and saw a more current version of firmware and everytime I tried auto updating from the router, it was giving me an error message. But after updating manually it resolved the issue.

I was in need of a new router and have typically bought L******s routers because of the performance. That brand has slipped, badly. So, I started researching and found the Asus AX6000. It has all the features I was looking for and Wifi6. It looked like the best choice for my needs. I can say that it has more than lived up to expectations. It has great range, has proven to be absolutely reliable so far, and has surprisingly fast wifi performance. Win, win, win. The best part is that is can be set up easily for the networking novice, but also has the depth of setting for the expert that wants to really get into the guts of router configuration. The interface is information rich, providing lots of good information about the various devices connected to it, including the signal strength being reported by the connected device. A definite plus for me. If you're in the market for a router, and it's within your budget, I definitely recommend this router be on your short list for consideration.

I had always owned ASUS routers as they are very reliable and this AX6000 aka RT-AX88U continues ASUS reputation as a reliable router maker. This is one of their Wi-Fi 6 version routers as I am just future proofing and also I own a laptop with a Wi-Fi 6 card in it and it has performed flawlessly and fast. Setting up the hardware is fairly simple as it has 4 antennas easy to place and the power cord is decently long enough. Setting up the name of the network and password doesn't take no more then 5 minutes when you set up for the first time. As far as going into the main settings it has a lot of options on how you want your device to work like QoS, mesh setup, this will probably take time to know how all these functions work as I am still learning them myself. Yes this is a router I would recommend.

Pros: great signal strength and distance Cons: initial set up needed my lap top instead ASUS APP. May exist but there were no instructions for phone app. Tech Savy: Barely, YouTube and Google for how to stuff. I had the NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK AX8 initially. Supposed to be great signal and similar ish specs to the ASUS minus some FEATURES. Had Netgear for almost 2 weeks. Signal tested using SPEED TEST by OOkla. Hardwired was great I have Frontier FIOS 500/500 was getting 530ish over 500ish for download and upload. Wifi was strong near the router but at distance had some issues with signal strength and speed. I felt my old Spectrum service/router had more range and better speed at distance than the Nighthawk AX8. It would work at distance but just slower. Used variation of both 5g and 2.4 to test speed. The Smart connect also made it worse for some reason. Wood, plaster and a couple walls for building material 1500 sqft home. Possible original lead paint that was painted over on walls, not sure tho. 1959 home. Skipping to ASUS AX88U aka AX6000. Set up with lap top. Not too difficult. Hardwired test using xbox one 530-540s and 500s ish download and upload. Sometimes higher sometimes lower but haven't gotten lower than 499 on download. Wifi tested around my house each room and outside just like Netgear. Range was much better next to router close to 400s down and upload using my wife's galaxy s8+. I don't have a lap top with 5g capability FYI. In room was able to use Instagram Facebook, web browsing no slow loading. Fast connection around my house. Laundry room the slowest loading but was still faster than the Netgear AX8. Range was just better and seemed faster connection via wifi around the house than Netgear. No special settings just simple set up. Both routers seemed to be on channels that didn't have a lot of congestion. The Asus just has better penetration of signal. First aftermarket routers I've ever bought. I connected 4ktv streaming VUDU MOVIES AT 4K while ring pro was connected as well as my hardwired xbox and hardwired 4k cameras to the NVR SYSTEM with my phone on 5g. Streamed fine with no lag. Excellent router. Go with the ASUS AX6000. Best buy price matched as long as its shipped and sold by Amazon. Fyi save yourself some cash.

I'm so glad i ditched my old Netgear Nighthawk router for this one! I was constantly having devices slowed down or not connecting at all with the old router, not to mention it would never see more than 200Mbps at the router. Switched to this one and BAM, it's getting over 450Mbps (i pay for 400) and over 430 on wifi. The wifi 6 is a great feature as well. Total setup was a breeze, though delving into the "fine tuning" can be tedious for some. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny to me coming from a router that had constant issues..... I've only had it a month, but so far ZERO issues with it in a house with 15+ devices, even with an Xbox Series X, gaming laptop and gaming desktop all online gaming together!

I recently had to Google Wi-Fi, I must say this is a big difference I have three routers in my house with this being the head, Great coverage no issues the app is so easy to use would highly recommend this to anyone that wants a great reliable mesh system or just a great router by itself. The big benefit of this router is that I have multiple things plugged into it to get a straight connection if you’re not playing hard wiring a lot of things this writer might not be for you but if you are this is a must that way you don’t have to purchase an additional switch. this writer has several ports available for straight plug-in

The AX6000 8 Stream is Phenomenal. I have tried the TP LINK AX3000 and had nothing but issues with it. The largest was constant disconnects of devices. The AX88U is a world of difference. I have now had it for 1 month and i cannot say enough good things about it. I have had 0 device disconnects in 1 month, where the other device would have 1 disconnect PER day. (i tried 2 of the other devices and did all the software updates). I love the Fact that Asus is on top of the game with FW-Updates. This device has Exceptional Range. I think it is rated for ~2500 sq ft. My place is ~1500 sq ft and i get the signal from across the street about 200 feet away. It is easy to set up, and easy to use. 0 issues is worth the extra money in my opinion.

This Ausu AX6000 RT-AX88U router is packed with security features and the menu system is intuitive and helps you setup the proper security from the start. Quite a lot of stuff here if your not reasonably network savvy but help screens can provide the assistance if needed. Quite an increase in gaming just using the router right out of the box but much better performance if you setup and use the built-in tools designed specifically for gaming like Mobile game boost and prioritized game traffic. WiFi-6 is included, 8 physical LAN ports on the back end, Mesh WiFi, even Alexa capable for simple voice commands. Wow - Asus has done it again, try it, you just might like it!!!

This is an awesome router. I used to have 2 routers hardwired together - 1 on each floor of the house (5000 sq ft) but now I only use this one and it covers the entire house no issues. Plus, there are 8 ports on the back that you can plug many more devices into - no need to extra switch. If you have another ASUS router you can turn those into a MESH network. I also love the online protection and parental controls features it provides - ISP can no longer charge you for this anymore.

The ASUS AX6000 is a very nice router that delivers great performance. Setup is very easy and both the app and the web portal are extraordinary. My only (slight) disappointment was in range and signal strength. Based on the pro reviews I read, I expected less drop-off in signal strength and speed with distance inside my house, which is 3 stories on a 16x44 footprint (router on 2nd floor). I don't have any completely dead spots, but performance is definitely degraded in many rooms.

I bought this router to replace a different ASUS model as the controller of my mesh network, it has performed flawlessly. Setup was easy as I just restored the configuration backup of the previous router. In what was a trouble spot on the boundary between two nodes I am now getting 599 Mbps downloads and 41 Mbps uploads. After a month of use, I no longer notice my WiFi network. It just works. The 8 Ethernet port are a real plus.
