Q: How many wireless connections can this router handle at a time?
A: Currently I have ten smart plugs three tablets two laptops a PS4 and Xbox, 3 TVs, a security system of about 6 cameras and window/door senora as well. If you doa combined WiFi you can run into some devices dropping switching from 2.4 to 5 GHz. I would recommend keeping them split and segregating network based on speed need. Right now roughly 60 devices connect to my WiFi network not counting the 6 wired ports
Q: How much mbps can I get if this is not plugged into my modem and is next to my pc.
A: If it's not plugged into your modem you will get ZERO.
A: Yes it is. Asus website and support knowledge base for this model gives details on WPA3 as well as other WPA3 capable devices.

A: If you need it to reach farther on one side of the house to outside, I would recommend placing it near a window on that side of the house. The typical range on them is about a 2 stall garage plus 2 1500 sq ft house all side by side. Not sure how far away your barn is from the house. You may need to get one for the garage and run an ethernet cord underground from the house to the barn. A way to find out how far your internet wifi reaches is to use an app on your phone called Netspot from the Play Store. It will show the signal strength of your wifi and drop in strength the further you go out. Hope this helps!
A: Any Wifi-Extender that supports DUAL Band will work.
Q: What is doa combined WiFi? Thanks
A: doa = do a The way he was describing was if you run dual-band smart connect, it could cause problems by constantly shifting them from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz connection. To minimize that problem is to run each channel separately and connect each device accordingly. For example, you have too many on the 2.4 GHz line, it could slow down your wifi connection speed. It would be better to keep each wifi channel with around the same amount of devices like 4 connected on 2.4 GHz and 4 connected on 5 GHz. Hope this helps.
Q: Does this device have powered Ethernet ports?
A: No, this router doesn't support Power on Ethernet.
