Customer Ratings & Reviews

I use this laptop ranging from watching anime and doing hvac school work. This is a very good laptop if you need one just to chill and not do anything very extraordinary

I am a long-time Chromebook user, and for the first time in a long time, I have to say I am not very satisfied with its performance. The laptop is hard to recommend from a performance-only perspective. Early Chromebooks were slow, underpowered internet devices that everyone kind of expected them to be. Over time, even the low-end Chromebooks got better, so much that I would not hesitate to get a low-end 4GB Chromebook for your child or the senior in your life. In a matter of fact, I have two other 4GB variant Chromebooks from previous years, including one from Asus that I absolutely adore for its weight, functionality, and performance. This particular Asus Chromebook had me in knots. First off, the keyboard is more like that of a Windows machine with a “G” button than a standard Chromebook keyboard. The “G” button is something I have seen in the development images for the new Google Aluminum OS (the next-generation Chrome OS) that's coming out soon. I can't fault the manufacturer for keeping future keyboard layouts in mind, and familiarity helps adoption. The keyboard is workable, but for someone used to ChromeOS shortcuts, it feels a bit different. That said, it didn't take me long to get used to it. It took my senior mother a bit to get used to it, though. The keyboard touch feel is nice, and the trackpad works well. The screen is clear and bright, with full 1080p resolution. The sound output is tinny but workable; the connectivity options are good, with an HDMI port and USB-A and USB-C ports, all on one side of the laptop. The USB-C ports are charging and display-port capable, along with 5GBPS connectivity. The battery life is more than enough for a road workhorse, and the device will receive updates until 2033. The OS setup feels very slick, very familiar, very much ChromeOS. Setup was a doddle, especially if you are an Android user; just scan the QR code with your phone to pair it, transfer your information, and begin its updates. This is where the machine's performance first showed cracks. You see, this is powered by the Intel N50, a 6W dual “efficiency” core processor designed for low-power consumption. With two efficiency cores, anything CPU-intensive would take a little longer. That in itself isn't a huge deal; the problem arises when you have multiple tabs and windows and are swapping between browser tabs and other documents. This is where the two cores really fall short. Quite often, I found myself waiting for the screen to catch up with what I was trying to do. It's frustrating for a power user. I have never experienced this performance issue before. I even reset the laptop to factory settings to see if it was a fluke during setup, but the problem persisted. I still will state that the benefits of the ChromeOS laptop outweigh its flaws. The laptop is of a good weight, size, and rugged build quality. It is very good for a child or a senior. ChromeOS’s native ability to not allow rogue programs to run makes it inherently more secure than any Windows machine could ever be. If the end user is patient, it is well worth giving one to them, but this model is not for the power user. If you run one program at a time, it's perfectly fine. If your entire life runs on the Chromium browser, you have nothing to worry. In the end, I have relegated this unit to my mother, who, despite her age, wants to stay connected to the internet. This has replaced her previous Asus Chromebook, trading the older, smaller screen for this higher-resolution, one-inch-larger screen that is easier on her tired eyes. Overall, not a bad device, and it provides a solution when needed. Just be aware of the limitations that a power user may feel it a bit lacking in the performance department.

Verdict: This is a tricky one… The ASUS CX14 is a great value on sale; it’s a chrome book that works and can generally do everything you want to do online and in the Google ecosystem. However, at full price, it becomes harder to recommend, and I would stay away if you are looking for a traditional computer (install programs, have lots of files on your hard drive, have many programs and tabs open, etc.). I think that this is a great starter laptop for students, and for people who fully live online AND in the google ecosystem. First impressions. It’s small and portable. Military specs. It has HDMI, and enough ports actually. It can fully lay flat when you open it all the way. I love that the charger is USB-C. Setup. I love the google login experience of Chromebooks. It’s seamless and all your google stuff is immediately accessible. Performance. Specs are barebones basic, but the computer functions thanks to the lightweight Chrome OS. It works well with just one or two tabs open, or one or two programs open, but it starts to struggle quickly as you add more load to the computer. Use cases. It’s important to note that there is something to the google ecosystem… I currently work in a company that does 80% of its work in Google (email, sheets, docs, appsheet, scripts, drive, etc.). If we didn’t need Office and Acrobat, I could see everyone having nice Chromebooks for a fraction of the cost of traditional nice laptops. I also have one more idea with these… I am going to try to use it in a business where we do everything online: google apps and a calling app; this could actually work well. Features. I like the hot keys on the top row; very convenient, especially the refresh, screen capture, and the back button. Things I like: - Solid frame; seems to be built well; actually military-grade standards - Super portable: small and lightweight - Runs fairly smoothly considering the basic specs - Full HD Display - Fast startup - Great battery life - Physical privacy shutter - Built-in antivirus? I don’t think I even knew that about Chromebooks - Full HD webcam Things I don’t like: - Very basic specs, expected at this price range, but manage expectations - The speakers are not loud and average quality – expected at this price range - The hard drive is very small, but with google drive, perhaps that will never be a factor Overall, this is a good laptop for specific use cases… I think this is maybe 4 stars in terms of Chromebooks and price/value. If compared to a normal laptop, then this is 2 stars. Before buying, you need to consider your requirements and your daily use. If you manage expectations and know what you are buying, you will be happy with this Chromebook.

Asus has brought out this $250 Chromebook aimed for those students and casual home users. As I unboxed this, I couldn't believe how light this thing felt for being a 14 inch Chromebook (3.06lbs). The next thing I noticed was that this thing has some tough plastic, I had to look this spec up and saw it has military grade durability (it meets US MIL-STD 810H standard). The keyboard does have some flex when pressed down, which leaves some concern if left open and it falls to the ground, it might sustain some damage that way. If left closed, I feel like it wouldn't be much of a concern if dropped. The screen resolution being full hd 1920x1080p is reasonable at this price point. The anti glare, IPS LED screen is decent but one of the main drawbacks is that it does not get too bright (peak brightness is 300nits). This means you would be limited to indoor use and away from direct lights. At least the anti glare coating helps in keeping the display looking clearer if you are in a bright environment. Overall use- The 4gb of ram and 64gb flash storage is starting to feel tight for our modern uses. It handles web browsing with different tabs open, and streaming fairly well though. It's when doing more intensive multitasking that you start to notice the bottle neck. Video calls are decent and clear enough with the 720p webcam to use Google Meet or Zoom, Teams. The built in microphone is also decent. The speakers are lacking though. I would highly recommend a dedicated headset. For I/O connections, it is adequate enough with HDMI, 1x USBA, 2x USBC, and headphone/microphone jack combo. They are all located on the left side of the Chromebook. I wish they could have added another USBA on the right but I get keeping costs down. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth are plenty fast and reliable for everyday use. Battery use is also decent, where your usage might vary but I can see all day battery life if taking small everyday tasks. It is pretty efficient for being a 3 year old processor. Asus rates this at 10-12 hours on a full charge, which seems fair to say. To summarize, this is aimed for the budget conscious, students, casual web browsers. It will hold up to everyday use and abuse. It is light enough to not have to worry about throwing it in a backpack. The 4gb memory is a hindrance and you notice it in the Chromebook menus. Don't expect to be doing anything too demanding outside web browsing and streaming.

I selected this Chromebook for two main reasons: it is among the most affordable Chromebooks, and it promised MIL-STD-810 durability. For my needs, I don’t require a lot of speed or high specs, but if I am going to get something, I want something that will last a long time. But this is a budget Chromebook, so you have to expect some compromises to be made. If you want better specs, you will pay more. The first impression is positive. The screen can flex a bit, but the bottom of the chassis feels solid, and has very little flex at all. The machine feels very sturdy, despite being plastic. Overall, I am impressed so far. Turning it on yields a screen that is bright and vivid. But, being a budget machine, the display is a TN panel so the colors shift if you move your head too far left or right. This is not ideal, but expected for this price point. It is full HD, so you get actual 1920 x 1080 resolution, and it really does look very nice as long as you are directly in front of it. While this isn’t a touchscreen, at least that means that you don’t have to get greasy fingerprints on it. The keyboard is also more than adequate. The typing feel is about what I would expect from a low or mid-range laptop. It is not exceptional, but it is certainly functional. The one feature that would have been great to have is a backlight for the keyboard. It is unfortunate that this feature is lacking, but understandable. Finally, the speakers are actually quite good. They are not spectacular, but much better than what I was expecting given the size and price The camera is functional, but a little bit disappointing. The image is good enough for web meetings, but not exceptional. My face almost looked like a good watercolor instead of an actual picture. Still, it should do the job if you aren’t too picky. The IO is also notable here too. You get TWO USB-C ports, both capable of handling charging as well as DisplayPort alt mode for driving a monitor, and 5 Gbps data transfer. With one single cable I was able to charge this, connect it to my 3440 x 1440 monitor, and have a wired keyboard and mouse. There is also a USB-A connector that also boasts 5 Gbps, as well as a full-sized HDMI jack. Even the MacBook Neo doesn't give you anywhere near this much connectivity. Aside from a headphone jack, you also get an actual locking slot for attaching a cable lock. I have a laptop that is four times the price that doesn’t have this feature and Asus deserves credit for including this. Inside is an Intel N50 processor. You won’t be surprised to hear that this is essentially half of an N100 processor. It has two very good efficiency cores that can boost up to around 3.5 GHz. While the cores actually are very good, there are only two of them, which is the biggest compromise in this system. It is generally pretty snappy, but I have had occasions where a YouTube video was playing, and typing into the YouTube app search bar was very sluggish. But the upside of having only two cores is that the CPU runs very cool. The entire system is passively cooled without a single fan in sight. There is a heat pipe that goes from the CPU to the other side of the chassis, which is essentially just a metal plate. There are no fans to wear out, ingest dust, or suck battery. One advantage of a Chromebook is that it also features the ability to easily run Linux. I got that set up easily, and installed EMACS and LibreOffice easily. LibreOffice is far better than any native Android office application, and I can highly recommend it. Since this runs an x64 CPU instead of the more common ARM processor, it should be easy to find binaries for any Linux app that you want. You are still limited to 4 GB and two cores, so you need to keep your expectations realistic. The memory is limited to 4 GB of RAM, and the storage is 64 GB. Both of these specs are adequate. Wireless is WiFi 6 which is more than fast enough for this class of machine. Now onto the other big reason that I chose this machine: the ruggedness. MIL-STD-810 is a very large spec, with a lot of parts, including such things as vibration and shock, humidity, temperature extremes, dust, and blowing rain. Nowhere could I find anything that lists which parts of the standard this Chromebook is tested to. I just feel like if you claim that you meet parts of the spec, you should advertise WHICH parts you meet. I can tell you that it is not in any way water resistant, especially since the back has some wide-open vents that can catch water. The pdf manual for this machine even says that you don’t want to use it near liquids, rain, moisture, or dusty environments. I can only assume that the testing is more for vibration and durability, but it would have been nice to know for sure. Still, as mentioned before, the chassis is rigid and if you treat it well, it seems like it will last for a long time. So, my final summary is that this is an extremely well-built machine. It is, however, a budget device, so some specifications were sacrificed in order to meet the price point. But I admit that this exceeded my expectations given the price, so I call it a win.

The ASUS CX14 14" FHD Chromebook features an Intel Celeron N50 processor, 4GB of memory, and 64GB of storage in a Dusk Gray chassis. I use it for productivity, personal budgeting, schedules, and family, and a little bit of entertainment. Here is my experience so far. - Design/Build/Unboxing - This was incredibly simple. Inside the box, you have the laptop, USB-C power adapter/cable, and eco-friendly packaging. It's lightweight at a little less than 3 pounds, and less than 1" thick, making it portable and easy to carry/travel with. Even though it's lightweight I was surprised at how sturdy the chassis was, so the military grade durability is apparent. There's a textured finish that helps with fingerprints and grip. The screen hinge feels durable and it can lay flat 180 degrees. There are enough ports so that you don't have to carry around any adapters. All of the main ports are on the left side of the laptop. Starting near the back, there is a battery charging indicator light next to the first USB-C port, which supports 5Gbps data speeds, DisplayPort, and power delivery for charging. Next to that is a full size HDMI port, which is great for hooking up an external monitor. There is also a standard USB-A port (5Gbps) that's very convenient for a wired mouse. Then there's a second USB-C port at 5Gbps that supports displayport and charging, and last a headphone/mic jack. On the right side of the unit is a Kensington security lock slot. - Specs & Features - It runs ChromeOS which is built around the Chrome browser and Google apps. The processor is a dual-core Intel Celeron N50 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The screen is a 14-inch Full HD (1920x1080) display. It has an anti-glare coating which is great when you're sitting in a bright area. It's not a touchscreen. It has a standard size trackpad and keyboard, and clicks/keyboard feel satisfying and well designed. There's adequate travel which makes typing easy. The keyboard is not backlit so take this into consideration if you are in a dark room. - Battery Life - Battery life is great on the laptop. I was getting 8 to 15 hours based on my usage. Keep in mind it will take up one of the USB-C ports when plugged in. - Performance - Even though the specs are on the budget side, I had absolutely no problems with multiple tabs or apps open. You will notice a very slight pause periodically when opening a lot of windows, but it actually handled moderate multi-tasking well. The Asus CX14 is completely silent due to a fanless cooling system. The battery life is also fantastic. It has easily lasted me a full day of typing and browsing without needing a charge, although when you need to charge, it's a compact 45W charger, so it's easy to carry.. The keys have a comfortable travel distance and I haven't noticed any excessive fatigue during long typing sessions. The 64GB of local storage is small, but ChromeOS will default to save files directly to Google Drive. I haven't run into any capacity issues but I would recommend using Google Drive, or a USB stick/external drive if you need more space. The colors on screen are vibrant, the keyboard stays cool, and volume gets loud enough to watch a movie, video, or music but there's not much bass. The app store is also loaded with apps for all walks of life whether you need productivity or entertainment. The only game I tested in the app store was Minecraft and it ran very smooth. If you're on the fence and still trying to decide, this is great for work professionals, students, entertainment, or all-around use. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable computer for work, school, or play. I’m giving it 5 stars because I love the tough design and it’s powerful enough that I don’t get any noticeable lag - Pros/Cons - *Pros* * Quiet and cool * Durable * Long battery life * Privacy Shutter * Comfortable keyboard * Great port selection *Cons* * No backlit keyboard * Limited viewing angles

As soon as the Chromebook arrived I fully charged it overnight with the included electrical cord. The next day I started the set-up process. It was so easy to set up but I am always surprised at the updates, drivers and software that are needed to be downloaded. This actually took a long time. The User Guide and manual is online and easy to find using the link included in the packet of information. I was surprised at the tasks I could perform with this ASUS Chromebook. Sometimes when I travel I do not want to take my big heavy laptop. I just need something that will be able to check email, research for my job, and allow me to update notices etc. The ASUS - CX14 14" FHD Chromebook Laptop - Intel Celeron N50 (2023) - 4GB Memory - 64GB storage is perfect for these tasks. It does not take up much room in my backpack nor does it make it too heavy to be uncomfortable. It is well made and sturdy. Accessibility Settings: This Chromebook was so easy to set up and had so many features that I like to use when traveling and everyday use. The Screen Reader is one such task. It is one of the first things I was able to set up. It is normally used for blind or low-vision readers. However I love it and use it often. I can highlight a word or a section and it will read just that section. It can make the mouse curser larger so it is easy to find. It adds a screen or docked magnifier. I love a magnifier so I can really check things out for reports or when I am bird watching, I can zoom into the photo and see if it is the bird I am viewing in real life. You are not required to add these but For me these accessibilities are so very handy. Keyboard: The keyboard is full size and the keys themselves are higher up making them easier to readjust my hand when I move them from their correct place to type. The space on the letters ‘F’ and “J” are so easy to find without looking. So typing is so quick even when I am not as focused as I would like. SCREEN & VOLUME: The screen is small and perfect for traveling and using the accessibilities I listed above. The colors are bright and the volume is perfect for travel. However I like a higher volume at home. I only gave a 4 star because This Chromebook is not up to my standards for everyday use at work or home. That being said I do love it for my travel needs. It serves a purpose for my needs. I feel that it would also be perfect for someone’s first laptop, elementary school students or an elderly person who does not have a need for all the bells and whistles of a larger laptop.

My kids are great with Chromebooks because they use them at school all day, me not so much. But I would say that setting this thing up for kids was a breeze. The Asus CX14 is a Chromebook that keeps things simple that honestly that’s what makes them work so well. So, lets go over what the Asus CX 14 has to offer. Specs as Tested: Intel N50 Processor 64 GB Storage 4GB LPDDR5 Ram Chrome OS FHD (1920 x 1080) LED Display It’s powered by an Intel Celeron N4500 with 4GB of RAM, and for what my kids use it for—Google Classroom, YouTube, light apps, and browsing—it runs smoothly. ChromeOS definitely helps keep things fast and simple, and I like that it boots up quickly and doesn’t require much maintenance. Even with a few tabs open, it holds up well enough for their needs. I picked this Chromebook for my kids to use for schoolwork and general browsing, and honestly, it’s been a really solid choice so far. The 14-inch Full HD LED screen was actually a pleasant surprise. The picture is clear and sharp, which makes it great for watching videos or doing school assignments. My kids haven’t complained once about the display, which says a lot. It’s also a good size—not too small, lightweight, so it works well whether they’re using it at the table or carrying it around the house. It feels sturdy enough for kids, which was a big concern for me, and the keyboard is comfortable for typing homework. The 64GB of storage hasn’t been an issue yet since most of their work is saved online anyway, but I can probably see this becoming an issue if they start to download some games that they may want to play. Battery life also has not been an issue. Stated battery life is listed as up to 13 hours and my daughter is usually walking around the house with this thing all day long and usually just put it charge at night before going to bed. Overall, my kids and I don’t have any complaints with the CX 14. It’s been working great, they love it, they are happy with it. If you’re looking for a no-fuss laptop for school or everyday use and something that is simple and easy to use, then this is it.

ASUS -CX14 FHD Chromebook - Intel Celeron N50 4GB - 64GB Chromebooks such as this ASUS provide a wonderfully practical entry point into computing for the price-conscious, which includes schools, parents of young kids, and so many more. It also solves the problems inherent in workplaces and homes chasing more and more features and the relentlessly more expensive software to get work done. Chromebooks are less demanding to operate and keep secure. The ASUS is a very focused example of a classic Chromebook that continues to improve on the details. The ASUS CX14 boots immediately. It centers activities, including settings and applications, around the web browser while relying mostly on the cloud for storage. The result? You don’t pay for pricey hard drives. You’re not purchasing expensive suites of software for basic tasks. The system software that is critical to security is taken care of in the background. SETUP: Initial setup took half of the suggested 11 minutes. The laptop uses a USB-C (45W) charger and the info on the bottom bar tells you how long until fully charged. There are two USB-C and one USB-A ports, an HDMI 1.4 and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. The Wi-Fi 6 is reliable and connected at average speeds in my home. PERFORMANCE: The ASUS is probably considered entry-level, but it has been built with a ruggedness and a feature set that is unusually rich even if performance is limited to average novice users and students. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, full HD so it is both colorful and detailed. As already noted, the selection of ports is very complete. The processor is a newer (though limited) Intel series N50, and Chrome system updates are promised to extend to 2033. I’m using headphones because the speakers are pretty basic. It has no problems running Google Docs and streaming movies. One of my photos is actually a HiDef movie on YouTube. I had no trouble running the laptop all day, with battery life remaining. SUMMARY: Chromebooks start out as great value, and sale pricing is predictable. This ASUS CX14 is the one you want for a student or for travel. A low eye-strain readability, a responsive trackpad, and typing comfort are important for me. The variety of ports is important for me because I need to connect to external monitors and transfer files directly. I want to loan out my computer to younger family members without worrying about their clumsiness. Power users aren’t the intended audience, but you know that.

I was a little skeptical of this ASUS CX14 Chromebook at first, mostly due to the budget Intel Celeron N4500 chip from three years back. Despite being a bit older, it still runs remarkably smooth. It also has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but I just needed a simple, compact device for my kid's schoolwork so he wouldn't have to bring his expensive laptop to class. Right out of the box, I was impressed by the durable build. The product page claims it meets "military-grade" standards, which always makes me laugh as those of us in the military know "military-grade" usually just means contracted to the lowest bidder to keep costs down. Yet, holding the CX14 actually feels solid in the hand. It is a little over 3lbs so there is some weight to it, and you feel it if you carry it around a lot. The keyboard is on the firmer side, reminding me of those sturdy third-party tablet keyboards where you feel a distinct physical press with each stroke. I actually prefer this feel, as the key travel is surprisingly good, making long typing sessions comfortable whether I'm writing this review on the Chromebook which feels really good, so I am not worried if I (or my son) are working on heavy papers and projects. The touchpad, however, is where this device really struggles. Clicking it is genuinely frustrating because you have to push down so hard just to get it to register, which is easily the biggest drawback here. Otherwise, operating it has been a pleasant surprise. Thanks to ChromeOS, I barely notice the 4GB RAM or the older Celeron processor. Navigating Chrome, using Google Workspace apps, and general web browsing show zero stutter or lag. Even loading image-heavy sites like Best Buy was fast and effortless. While I strongly believe all entry-level laptops should start at 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM, 64GB is manageable here since Chromebooks rely heavily on cloud storage for Docs, Slides, and Drive files. The Full HD (1920x1080) display looks great for the price point, and watching videos on YouTube is crisp and clear enough for everyday use. The 720p HD webcam is decent, but it gets the job done for Google Meet calls, and the physical privacy shutter is a welcome touch. When it comes to connectivity, the port selection is nearly perfect: you get one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports (both supporting display out and power delivery), an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Overall, if you are looking for an affordable, reliable budget Chromebook for basic school needs, this is an ideal choice. Just keep your expectations down and know that this is a basic Chromebook, not a device from the fruit company or gaming laptop.

In general, just know that this is not a laptop like one might expect. This is a Chromebook which is essentially an Android phone with a 14” screen and keyboard. It is for doing the bare essentials of what one might need from a laptop. Like the ability to browse the internet, watch online videos and typical office processing, like documents and spreadsheets. You are not going to do much else on something this trimmed down. With that expectation understood, then compared to other Chromebooks, this one feels like it is built well, has more of a laptop feel to it, but still fits on the low end of Chromebooks. A lot of them, because of the mobile style operating system, typically have a tablet mode and touch screen, this does not. Even trying to install apps from the pre-installed “Apps & Games” was pretty much useless and I just had to revert to the Google app store. In which you will be reminded multiple times that some apps are made for mobile and not a Chromebook. If you are already an Android user, setting up this Chromebook can be pretty quick and simple with the picture of the QR code and some questions, you will be up and running in no time. However, everything else on this system just feels slow. From browsing sites, watching video and regular operations. Even a speed test of the Wi-Fi is slower than what is provided to it. Getting around 300Mbps on a Wi-Fi 7 router with 1.25Gbps internet on 5Ghz channel. You will really notice it if you try to do more than one thing at a time. If you are just looking for something thin, fairly light that lets you do common word processing style things and browsing the web, this is all this is really good for. You barely have 40GB of storage space, it is slow to do practically anything and most features need internet connection. Granted the screen is decently bright, anti-reflective and the battery can last a decently long time. So, really weigh your options on what you are expecting out of something like this.

--- SETUP --- This ASUS CS14 (2023) Chromebook comes with the device and the charger. It’s a simple setup, but I did encounter a few frustrations during the process. Chromebooks require that you are logged into the internet with a Google account. You need a WiFi connection for that. This Chromebook refused to connect to my 5GHz band, forcing me to connect instead to my 2.4GHz band. --- PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTATIONS --- As mentioned above, the starting experience of this Chromebook was not great. Once I managed to connect to my 2.4GHz band, the Chromebook took about 10 minutes to update on a 100Gig up connection. After it updated itself, trying to log in was challenging. The WiFi kept dropping off, so, before I could enter my password to log into my Google account, the WiFi would disconnect and I’d have to try to log in again. I tried walking to different rooms of my apartment, and even sat next to the WiFi router, but the drop in WiFi continued to occur. After it remained stable for a few minutes longer, I got to enter my password, only to require the two step verification of putting a texted code in and losing the connection again. I tested other laptops I own and other devices in general. They never lost connection while on the same network. I finally was able to set this Chromebook up past the log-in screen, and I began using the Chromebook daily. It still occasionally drops connection at login. Though this Chromebook feels small by comparison to a full laptop, the keyboard size is comfortable for adult hands. The screen itself is a bright 1080P display that works well indoors, but not so well outdoors on a bright day. There are no backlit keys, so working in a dim environment can be challenging if you rely on looking at keys, which most younger children usually do. The keys themselves feel nice to press, though they are louder than the keyboards I am used to working with. In fact, I’m typing this review using this Chromebook’s keyboard! This keyboard layout has a new feature in the caps lock button with a diamond and a + symbol called “quick insert key”. What it does is, it has a history of visited websites, emojis, or other files in a drop-down menu option. This allows you to insert any of the displayed options wherever you are without having to copy and paste. There was a small learning curve, but I quickly got used to it and definitely want that feature in other keyboard layouts. Additionally, this is one of the few Chromebooks I have seen with a caps lock button, so that’s a welcoming surprise. The touchpad works well for gliding, but for my taste, it is too loud and clacky. Additionally, it required extra force to press compared to other laptops I’ve used. For that reason, the touch pad is my least favorite part of this Chromebook.. Once I started using more and more tabs, the Chromebook did start to noticeably slow down. Since for work I have to have a lot of tabs opened, this was not ideal for my needs. This Chromebook has an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, an auxiliary port, and a USB-A port. All of them are on the left side, but too close to each other which is only a problem if your cables have extra thick shells on their plugs. There is also a Kensington lock on the right side, though the lock and cable are not included. --- APPROVAL --- This Chromebook is a great starting Chromebook for people who won’t be pushing it to its limits. However, I personally wouldn’t recommend it if you call yourself a power user and plan to have more than 5 tabs opened at once.

I needed a new Asus chromebook for work. I like the sleek look and the ease of use. The battery life is awesome. It's so easy to bring with me to work and home, fits in my bag nicely. I like everything about it. I had an older version and was pleased with it and wanted to upgrade so stuck with Asus again. It was a great choice!

Works great. Easy setup. Easy to keep updated. Linux functions fairly easy to setup and to use (note: I am not new to Linux). Word processing software on Linux is better than the Chrome option. This is a lightweight easy to use on the go computer with great battery life. Best of all a great buy.

Nice battery life, runs smoothly, but low storage will need a external hard drive to kerp it running smoothly.

The Asus CX14 is an entry level Chromebook best suited for young kids. If you're using a single program or just browsing with a few tabs open the CX14 is perfectly fine, there is little delay and its fairly responsive. But the moment you open more than one program tabs performance takes a huge hit. Everything slows down, most actions take 3 to 4 seconds to occur, it reminds me of computers from 2002. Being an entry level Chromebook most of the hardware is dated, for example WiFi speed test never surpassed 200 Mbps. Even Bluetooth took a while to connect, however once it was connected there were no issues reconnecting. While most of the hardware is entry level, Asus did a great job in other areas. The biggest being the screen, even on a sunny day I was able to use the Chromebook outside. The colors are decent and I was impressed with how well it handled black backgrounds/scenes. The build of the CX14 is good and it's light enough to carry around with one hand. The keyboard is decent, not the best but not the worst. The key travel is nice and there is solid bounce back which is good enough for casual use. Where the CX14 really stands out is how well it plays with your Android phone. It recognizes and allows you to log in quickly and becomes an extension of your phone. The trackpad was also very nice, there were no phantom clicks and everything registered when used. Overall the CX14 is good enough for elementary school kids or someone that just needs casual browsing. ✅Good: Battery life Build quality ❌Bad: Speakers Camera Processor Harddrive RAM

I’m very pleased with my laptop purchase! It arrived quickly, was packaged securely, and looks exactly as described. The laptop is fast, easy to use, and works great for my everyday needs. The quality is excellent for the price, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable laptop.

My daughter needed a Chrome book for school and this computer has been perfect so far. not super heavy seeming she has to carry it in her backpack every day, and the battery life lasts a while.

it doesn't have AI in the browser. once these things have a finger print reader, thats it i don't believe in touch screens. but these products need to go up to like 290 and have special cases with designs. depends if people buy more of those. ips screen. battery life is up to par with those acers i don't like tech over 500 for 189. thats all we've been asking for for like 10 years.

Bought this to replace a computer we used when we traveled. Worked great! Easy to set up and easily connected to the Internet at our apartment in the Netherlands.
