Asus MeMo Pad 7 Me572c Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For this review I will report only my experiences with using the Me572c Tablet Setup The setup of the tablet was very simple. There were 5 easy steps, choose language, choose time zone and format, connect to network, sign into or create account, and you are done. System Update As soon as I finished setup and was on the home screen the Asus Update Reminder came up. I was able to update the Tablet with a single click. The Tablet rebooted and installed the update and then rebooted again. One note the Tablet shipped with a 11.8.3.14 version and Asus Update updated the Tablet to 11.8.3.26 version, after that the system reminder kept popping up saying that a newer update was available but would not install. I had to manually down load and install 11.8.3.30 version to get rid of the popup. Installing Apps I was able to connect to Google Play Store and install most of the apps that I had installed on my old tablet (Asus MeMo Pad HD 7 me173x-A1), there were a few apps that were not compatible with this device but the major apps i use i was able to install. Installing Apps was very fast, allot faster that on my old Asus Memo Pad HD 7. One feature I notice that I did not notice on the New Me572c Tablet, in the Play Store I could now select multiple items to be installed at once. could be a feature of the new tablet as I did not see it on the old Tablet. Most likely it is a feature of the Play Store and the New Tablet supports the feature and the Old Tablet does not. Asus Transfer There is an app that allows you to Transfer data from your old tablet to your new tablet. It uses Bluetooth to connect between tablets. I had several issue with this method. 1. Pairing or Connecting was intermittent 2. Drop outs on larger transfers 3. Certain file types cannot the transferred or accessed (unless you root tablet) Using the Tablet After completing the setup and install of apps and Transferring data (used computer to transfer and not the Asus Transfer app) I was pleasantly surprised of the performance of the tablet . Typing was smooth, screen change we smooth and very swift. There were pauses when changing orientation, but it is a livable trade off for the swiftness of everything else. Application open smooth and promptly, now I maybe bias here because of going from the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 Me173x, with its often slow or often unresponsiveness, with the Asus Memo Pad 7 Me572c, did not have any of the issue I was plagued with the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 Me173x. Playing games on the Me572c vs the Me173x was absolutely no contest. The Me173x just could not play any games with very good frame rates to call the game play able. The Me572c played most games fairly well with descent frame rates. Most game were playable with one or two shutters here and there, nothing to make the game unplayable or distracting to the experience of playing the game. Screen and Audio and Video The screen is beautiful. good color, very clear and sharp. Fonts and Icons are clear. Easy to read. Video play back is a pleasure, but I would recommend getting a Video Player that allows you to set screen aspect ratio. Remember this display is 1920x1200 so non HD video will often not fill the screen and make viewing the video uncomfortable. SD video on this tablet looks washed out and often blocky. I am not sure if it is the video encoding or the tablet. I am leaning toward video encoding, the clarity of the Tablet allow you to see the imperfection in the video. HD video did not display these artifacts. Audio was clear, not tiny like some speakers. Volume is not as load as the me173x tablet but it is okay. Most reviews say that the speaker placement is bad on the Me572c, but I like the speaker placement. When held in landscape mode the sound from the speakers output is funneled by my hand directly at me. I think this gives better volume and slightly better imaging. Another plus is that if you have it in a case the speakers are not block by the case. Battery The battery life is good, I have had the tablet for a week now and have been using it constantly testing everything I could. I was able to use the tablet on the first charge for about a day and a half without charging. But beware charging on this device is very slow and charging does not really work while using the device. If you are at 47% on battery and plug in the charger and continue to use the tablet it will not charge and often if you are playing video or any high demand application it will deplete the battery, yes deplete the battery even if you r plugged into the charger. Charging without use and screen off is approximately 3 hours 35 minutes from 10% to full charge. One additional warning do not and I cannot stress this enough do not let the Tablet fall below 10%, as the system becomes very unresponsive and often will not power back on and I mean will not power back on. I was lucky after leaving it on the charger for 2 days, I was able to get the tablet above 10% and then it charged normally. Over all Review I liked the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 (me173x), the only drawback was the often unresponsiveness , but I love the Asus Memo Pad 7 (Me572c), it is really the Nexus 7 with a MicroSD Slot added to be honest. It is a far cry from the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 (me173x). Pros Good Battery life Good Overall real world Performance Good Overall Display Fair Audio output Good Compatibility with apps Fast reliable WIFI connectivity Cons Long Charge times Often Long Press to wake from Deep Sleep Screen Corruption when switching from portrait to landscape screen mode

Good for the price, watch out for screen defects!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the tablet, great form factor, feather light, quality build, speedy processor, good battery life, great display, IF you get one without defects. Took me 3 exchanges to finally get one that didn't have dead/stuck pixels and EVERY one I have had has light bleed along the edges of the screen. I'm learning to live with the light bleed because I feel it's a common issue and probably not easy to get a perfect one. ASUS needs to get better quality control, I know this is a budget tablet but it doesn't mean you should skimp on quality. With that said, it's a great tablet. It's basically what the Nexus 7 would've been if they kept making it. Before this I've owned Tab Pro 8.4, Nexus 7 2013, Tab S 8.4, Lenovo S8-50 and Tab 4 10.1, the Asus Me572 is a worthy contender. And I love the new software update I got today with the dual apps. I definitely recommend the ME572. Let's hope for lollipop!

Nice screen, slim, light, fast, and inexpensive!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my fourth Android tablet. Based on my past experience, I realized that I really have to have a tablet with good screen. My first one had a 7 inch 1024 x 600 screen. It was fine for watching movie, but it was hurting my eyes when I was using it to read web pages and books. Then I got one with a 7 inch 1200 x 800 model. The resolution was good, but the particular model had a very poor quality screen. My last one, Nexus 7, had an awesome screen (1920 x 1200), but it lacked storage expandability... So, here comes another 7 inch tablet with 1920 x 1200 resolution! Yes, there were other tablet out there (e.g., Nexus 7, New dell Venue 7, etc.), but this Asus ME572 has a new Atom processor, 2G of RAM, and micro SD slot! On top that, the price is actually lower than Nexus 7!! I won't go into details of pros and cons because there are nice reviews out there, but I just want to let you know that the screen is really nice. I have been reading books with it, but I have no complains. It actually runs smoother than Nexus 7, probably because of 2G of RAM and Atom processor. When I was reading a pdf or jpg documents with many figures with Nexus 7, it took a moment for a page to "settle down". When a new page is loaded, it became blur for a moment, then adjusted for the screen. It was OK for reading a short paper, but it got pretty annoying when you have to flip through many pages with figures. But with ME572, I have not experienced that. A pdf document with a lots of figures loads very quickly. Having micro SD slot helps too. I have a folder in my 32G SD card with about 4 G of books and manuals for my work, and another folder with 9 G of movies for my kid, and still have nearly 20G to spare... Nice. My only complain is about stability. It is common across Android devices. When you compared with iPad or even Windows 8 tablet, Android tablet is very weak in terms of OS stability especially at low battery level. It starts to act slow or simply become unstable. Also, the battery indicator function is not as accurate as other OS. It is not uncommon to see the complete shut off of the system in the morning, even if the last reading was 30% battery level when I went to bed. I have both iOS and Win8 tablets at work, but I have never experienced the same type of instability at low battery level, or this degree of inaccurate battery indicator, or complete shut off when you are not expected. You really keep remind yourself to charge Android tablet... It may sounds trivial, but it does matter when you expect your tablet to run all day. Even if the other review may say this model runs 11 hours based on software benchmark, in reality, based on my experience, it is more like 7-8 hours even with reading mode. If you play games, it becomes even less. It is still more than sufficient for a day, as long as you remember to charge for the next day! ;) So, because of the OS (not because of the hardware), I had to take off one star from my rating. Hopefully the new Android OS will address that issue, and ME572 is upgradeable! (No official word yet, as of Jan 2015)

Five star tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased from BestBuy 2 weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. Very light and powerful tablet. Very fast (1.83mhz vs 1.5 Nexus 7 processor ) and 2mb RAM let me run multiple programs without crashing. Also it has nice HD screen and very long battery life. Would buy it again if needed.

works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this nearly 2 years ago for a trip to Europe. I needed something for emails and storing/editing photos so I wanted the high resolution screen. I got a simple "book" cover protector (type that flips back and forms it's own stand) and am still using it today for music and emails on the road. ASUS has been a good brand ... I also have a laptop from then I've been using for over 4 years!

First impression of K007
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."K007" is the actual model no. of this Taiwanese made product, although Asus sells it as the "ME572C". I just picked one up for Xmas at Best Buy. It could have just as easily been offered by Sharper Image stores because it's a real stunner; certainly more elegant looking than all other so-called "budget" tablets. The specs on this beauty are stellar as well starting with its full 64 bit, quad-core CPU, Intel's Atom Z3560 that clocks at a whooping 1.83GHz running in 2GB of internal LPDDR3 RAM. That's a full gigabyte more than most other tablets in this price range. No doubt, this is why it has a true Hi-Def display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. That is 2.3 million pixels on a 7" diagonal LCD. This results in absolutely pristine color graphics, the sharpest possible text and videos as good as any 1080p HDTV. Except with only a 7" diagonal display, you would have to look through a powerful magnifying glass to see them. Of course, like most others, it comes with 16GB of additional memory for storage of which about 10GB is free to download music, videos and numerous apps from the Google stores. It also has a plug-in port for a microSD card to increase the storage capacity significantly. Best Buy sells a 32GB microSD for only $30 should the extra storage space ever be needed. The most often heard criticism of this tablet is its rather wide opposing blackouts around the screen, especially the at the top and bottom when viewed vertically. However, the entire front surface area is covered in one continuous piece of glass from outer edge to edge, so these areas are not really noticeable and certainly blend in to the LCD such that when this tablet is turned off, it looks a lot bigger than a 7" tablet. Which brings me to say, the K007 is as light as a feather; just 9.6 ounces. The back plate, although plastic, is stylishly textured, but if there is any shortcoming to this tablet, Asus does not include a protective case. That will be the very first post-Xmas accessory on my shopping list, and it would probably be a good idea to pick up an extended protection plan from Best Buy, but that does not cover "breakage" from dropping any mobile device. The Li-ion battery is nearly 4000 mAh, which is more than enough for lengthy periods of purely mobile operation. I haven't had a chance yet to explore the software. The Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat operating system is fairly current. It comes with several dozen apps; more than I'll ever use, but many will come in handy as well as dozens more I will eventually download from the Google store. All in all I am very favorably impressed with the over quality and expected performance of this tablet. For only $179, it promised to be an extremely good value!

Worth every penny and then some
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very pleased with this tablet. I shopped and shopped, but nowhere can you find better specs, especially screen or processo. Intel's quad-core atom processor along with 2gb ram give this tablet the power to handle just about anything you throw at it. It also has a quick boost feature which allows you to swiftly restore your cpu back to full form by closing apps and processes that are still running in the background that you don't need. The weight and dimensioms make this tablet ideal for people on the go or on vacation. The camera could be better and ASUS does have a lot of extra apps (some very useful and some completely worthless), but these are minor things especially considering the price. I could see spending well over $250 for something this high quality, but because I got it for only $160 I give it 5 stars.
