    Not what I expected

I recently purchased this tablet a few weeks ago and was so excited because I had read previous reviews and waited anxiously for this to be to released for sale in US retail stores. It is a beautiful tablet and I love the glass which does seem to deter fingerprints and smudges better than other tablet screens. The specs on this was awesome for a 7"tablet and I could not find another in that size that was equal to the ME572c mode. I took it to a coffee shop and tested it head to head against my friends older tablet, an LG model. I was shocked at how slow my Memo pad was to load pages and surf around. We both went to the same web pages as a test and her LG blew mine away in speed and time to load pages. I found inputting a URL web address to be clumsy and the page would often revert back to the page I was just on as if it timed out and I would have to start all over. I also had significant problems loading any videos from Hulu main page (clips for example) and You Tube. It would freeze up while the other tablet pulled them up with ease. I was very disappointed because I spent so much time researching 7" tablets and this was the best, especially for a budget tablet. I liked having dual speakers but the volume could be louder. Maybe I have a fluke tablet and others don't have this problem, but I am going to have to return this one today for refund.

    The Nexus 2014

Purchased tablet after my 2013 Nexus bricked after a 5.02 install. This tablet outperforms the Nexus at all points. The addition of a 64gb card insures the 16GB on board memory will not constrict further software additions. Screen shines and sound is better then my tab pro and fire hd 8.9. Kit Kat skin from Asus is minimal and some apps seem to improve the stock android. A true Best Buy!

I intended on getting a nexus 7 but found out it has been discontinued. I didn't really want a Samsung product so I saw this tablet. Crisp clear video. Fast! Thin lightweight. Love it! Basically a 3rd generation nexus 7! Best buy did not stock a screen saver so I did have get a universal one from another store and cut to it to size. Love it! Highly recommend!

The Intel Atom is Quad Core 64bit processor, what can I say it is fast! It is stable OS KitKat 4.4.2, and with a 64GB microSD has enough storage. Would this have been the Nexus 2014 if Google would have stayed with ASUS, I don't know but every bit as good and better than the Nexus 7 2013.

Good picture quality true HD resolution.. Good Value. Good ASUS PClink allows displaying on PC with usb calble bad Can Not connect to any hidden wireless nor 5 GHZ even if broadcasting. bad Square corners are uncomfortable. Recommend if value is number 1. If planning on playing many games, look for rounded corners.

Best 7" tablet on the market

I've had this tablet for almost two weeks now and have very few complaints. I originally bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 but was left extremely disappointed with that tablet. Waste of money. I replaced it with the ASUS Memo Pad 7, the ME572C, and I haven't looked back!

Great follow up to the Nexus 7

Pretty much the same as the Nexus 7 (2013) in a lot of ways, but better in my opinion. It has a micro SD card slot, too. That was my biggest gripe with my N7. Pretty decent device and the price is awesome. Accessories (screen protectors, cases, etc) are a little tougher to come by, but if you can live with that, it's an excellent value.

    Great hardware, horrible apps

    Posted .

I purchased this tablet because the hardware specs are stellar and the form factor is perfect for what I wanted it for. However, after using it for about a week, I found that the Asus apps were updating almost daily and you can't remove them unless you root the device, which I did not want to do. Yes, you can disable them, but they are still residing on the 16 GB drive it has, wasting space. So... if Asus would not have loaded it up with their apps, it would be perfect. Otherwise, if you don't mind that part, then the tablet is awesome and you'll be quite pleased.

I didn't realize how much I loved this or how often I used it until I carelessly cracked the screen. Now I have to live without it until they get it back to me! Thankfully it was still under the 1 year protection plan!

    A lemon?

I was and still am looking forward to getting a functioning ME572C. I got my first one a few days ago (Dec 13, 2014) and was greatly impressed with the display clarity and feel of the tablet. However after successfully going through the setup wizard, the problems just started to cascade. In short, while I could and did successfully connect with my wifi router and ASUS registration, the device would then not connect with the internet nor would it sync any of the accounts nor would it allow any updates to the OS or any apps. Bluetooth would not pair. Error messages varied. I had a few volleys with ASUS email service and the end result was that the rep advised me to get a RMA and send it in for service. As the unit was still under warranty (purchased only a couple days ago) I opted to go back to BestBuy and exchange it for a new model. Hopefully, things will go well the 2nd time around. If possible, I will update this review with the results. This unit really has the most bang for the buck (going by the specs) and the ASUS ZenUI really seemed a step up from my Nexus 7 (2012). Fingers crossed!

A really good budget tablet, check out the online reviews. My only complaint is it seems as if asus is not marketing this tablet enough, And it's hard to find a case for it.

This was top tier tablet design back when it came out. Bought in 2015 and still running as a test device for older versions of Android. For modern day, it's almost comparable to Amazon tablets!

I've updated it a few times before. But i just updated it today at 1:45 with the latest firmware. I had said that it was downloaded and ready to install so i click it to install. All that happened was it was installing then bam. I wouldn't turn on no more. Worked good until this 3rd asus firmware update. I'm really sad now wasted alot of money on this tablet hoping it would last longer than an itouch 4g (my old phone# but sadly it stop working 1 month from when i bought it. I just cant believe it i lost all my online app saves again... ^i left it charging updating it like a laptop. scare it might brick itself or die out updating but .... it doesn't even load. Asus innovation is not greatness anymore. #1month it died...)(200usd tablet)

    Returned Twice

...Both times for the same issues. There was a BRIGHT backlight bleed around the screen, especially around the front facing camera. Both tablets also were defective in their touchscreens out of the box. Touches would register on other parts of the screen and sometimes cause the screen to freak out. In addition to the technical defects, the sharp corners were at times uncomfortable. Plus the "handbag" or "clutch" design on the back isn't exactly universal in its appeal.

this is the 2nd Asus tablet I`ve bought (actually 3rd as I bought two Memos in one purchase...other was for a friend) (1st was a 2012Nexus7) both ended up with cracked screens I don`t mistreat them !..never Dropped ! This MeMo pad (Me572c) was in a good padded case the whole time and was 6 Mos old ! Asus wants $130 to fix a (6 mo old) tablet that cost $150 ! No more Asus for me

    Adequate

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Includes bloatware and Asus tools that require constant updating. Also the MicroSD card slot is rather worthless as very few apps can actually write to it: To work around this, I transfer app data over a USB cable. Major apps have issues with this tablet such as Amazon's which is unable to write to the storage (internal lists 0GB of 0GB or external which the system has no access to). So for the price at which I bought the tablet is is acceptable. However, having a relatively worthless MicroSD that I need to preload music, books, and media onto is a very big disappointment. Asus's answer regarding the MicroSD access is that it's Android's fault. Perhaps then Asus MAKE IT EASY TO ROOT at the very least. However, please note that my Samsung S5 phones have no issue using the same apps, writing to external media.
